I just played a game at Fenway and noticed they had Ortiz's number up.......maybe this was already there but it was my first trip to Fenway.

It didn't surface in this patch. There's been occurrences of it since release (though it is rare).

#2 is hardcoded and a design decision that will not be reversed for this years game. Last year we had part time full season batter walk up stats.
It was a design decision and this year they went back to showing season statistics on walk ups.
They listen. And I can safely bet with the amount of feedback about not having the players position under their number, they will change that for next years game.

Any idea on the CPU vs. CPU camera thing? We always previously had the option to use whichever camera we desired.Comment

Had a bug but not sure if this was there before.
@ Wrigley, I hit a ball over the Right field basket hitting the facade underneath the seats. IRL that is a home run, but in the game it bounced off the wall, back into the field and didn't count as a hr but a hit. The fielder threw the ball in.
Never saw this before but it should have been a HR.Comment

CPU Mariners sac bunted successfully / realistically against me in a game I played earlier today...
Didn't look "rocket bunt", etc...
Might be coincidence, but hadn't seen that, before this patch...Comment

From a strategy standpoint it would seem knowing a player's handedness would be much more important than knowing what position he plays when he's not batting.
Of course the easy fix is for it to display both.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Patch 1.09 Available Now, Patch Notes Included
Haven't noticed any different with hitting, but I still think the hitting design isn't quite right. I feel like hitters have way to much bat control towards the outside of the plate, and pitchers have too much control at placing pitches on the outside—especially breaking balls.
Slider adjustments can alter this a bit, but I find it just ends up in me having way more walks. It feels way too easy to look outside and dink and dunk the cpu to death. There should be way more popups on the types of timing and contact I'm putting on those balls.
I also feel like there isn't enough reward for selling out and putting a good swing on pitches high in the zone.
As an example, I'm doing an Angels franchise and Kole Calhoun has a huge number of hits simply by me looking to go the other way against the shift. A guy like Calhoun shouldn't be able to just decide to do that and be able to accomplish it like clockwork.
Still love the game, but the hitting approach you're most rewarded for in this game seems straight out of softball.Last edited by bad_philanthropy; 06-24-2017, 02:29 PM.Comment

This patch does not affect gameply on existing franchises, right? I know this was the case in previous years.Comment

It's odd to see it because normally on a tv broadcast that same graphic would show what position the player is playing. You rarely see a graphic like that showing which side of the plate a batter bats from. You obviously will find that out shortly after when he steps to the plate.

Actually no, the patch does apply to all game modes and existing franchises. But if you mean having to restart your franchise for the patch to work within your existing franchise/rtts, then no, you don't have to restart.

My first game post patch was an epic 2-1 win at Boston.
I asked Brett Gardner to be a hero.....and he did just that. Solo HR in the top of the 9th.
Chapman......done.

Played 3 games post patch and don't notice a difference. I know someone else mentioned there being an uptick in power but I don't see it. I've given up 6 doubles, 1 triple and 2 HR's in the 3 games post patch with the CPU hitting 25/99 (.253). I haven't torn the cover off the ball either, 6 doubles, 4 HR's in that same period.Comment
