Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch
Personnally, I'm done. I loved playing this game at the beginning. Hitting was great (with Mike Lowe's sliders) and every match was different.
But since, at least, the last two patches, hitting has become crap. You throw a fastball, a changeup right in the middle of the strikezone, the CPU will punish you with at least, a base hit. Now, the CPU throw the same ball against me with a really good hitter (good contact, great vision and power) and a good swing, 95% of the time, it will end with a lazy flyball, a poor groundball right to the infielder, etc.
The CPU has just no problem to hit the ball compare to the player. Every good swing by the CPU will be a base hit, even if the ball is way outside of the zone.Comment

Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch
Actually, I wish I missed more balls. I'd prefer missing a well time ball over lazy flys and grounders right at basemen on every hit. I'm actually driving the ball into the gap on direction which wasn't happening on zone.

Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch
Everyone that is having issues hitting post patch are you using directional? I use zone and have zero issues. I play on Hall of Fame and scored 9 and 13 runs the last two games and hit 6 HRs with great hit variety. I even have bumped the solid hit down from 5 to 4. I consider myself an average player. Just was wondering if the difference was maybe between the hitting modes since directional is based more on player ratings as I understand it.Comment

the CPU pitches the same way to you if your not getting success, i take alot of pitches which help create walks, which also gives me better pitches to hit as the game goes on ( doesnt work all the time, its baseball so its not suppose too)Toronto Maple Leafs

i noticed with this game that you have to change your approach... i know it sounds cliche but it actaully works for me

I've been pulling 3-4 walk a game lately and I really work the pitch count. I try to vary approach to change the pace. I think part of it is my team is always dog tired. When they are fresh we hit the ball but after 2 or 3 games in a row we are back to swinging a limp noodle. I don't strike out often, seems like I would at least luck into some hits when making decent contact.

Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch
Anyone else noticing a ton of swings and misses now after 1.10 with directional? I went from striking out 5-7 times a game to now striking out 10+ a game because of the ridiculous amount of good timing whiffs. This is HoF directional.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch
I've had a good variety of games since the last patch. I skipped around in a few series in a test franchise that I have going. First game I won 5-3 against the pirates, then won 6-4 against the Red Sox, then two losses against the Reds 3-2, and 8-1.Comment

I don't think it's the servers... I think they changed something with how the pitch comes from the pitchers hand..Comment

Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch
This is probably the most frustrated I've been with hitting in this series, after thinking this was the best hitting version of the game after the first few initial patches. I've always been a default HOF hitting guy, and after the last three or so patches, I struggle to even hit on All-Star. My best swings go foul, my hardest hits are constantly at people or into a shift, and just no overall rhyme or reason to whats going to be a hit.
I really wish they would find a better balance between trying to simulate the "randomness" of baseball, and allowing the user to have input in hitting, especially in zone hitting. If I'm skilled enough to constantly have my pci on or near the ball with good timing, I should see the results point blank. I don't want to hear about "sometimes perfect timing isn't the the best timing" because that's an asinine explanation. If I stay back on a pitch to the outside of the plate, that's perfect timing. I shouldn't need to be just late or late, to see better results.
Just really frustrated, and the developers have been pretty hush about the obvious changes to hitting throughout the patches for this game. Only so many times I can continue to watch the CPU Hit for authority on balls no where near the pci, while I'm constantly being penalized for good contact and timing, and hitting it foul or right at someone. Would love to be able to go back to like patch number three.Last edited by Baseball Purist; 07-27-2017, 01:55 PM.Comment

Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch
I'm having similar difficulty hitting now with seeing some of my worst hit speeds. I've been a great online hitter the last 3 seasons and I know **** happens in baseball and I don't think I deserve to hit 5 HR's a game but if they are saying this current version of the game is "how baseball really is", then they are admitting every previous iteration of this game was now how baseball really is. The game plays very different, the switching the PCI to buckshot is some kind of flimsy justification to all the changes that have been made to hitting.
I appreciate the effort they try putting into the tuning of the game as the season goes along but at some point it feels like they need to let us get used to playing with these settings or be upfront about what they are tweaking.
I've seen people mention certain players feel "nerfed", I'd like to add Miguel Sano to that victim list as well.Comment
