    Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch

The game plays horrid after last 2 patches. Zone hitting..... had to move down to all star from HOF. No difference, 6 games in a row on All star and hitting is so badd I'm about to shelve this game. Worst I've ever seen in the series.

It's like hitting baseballs with a wiffle ball bat.

        Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch

I have been playing a lot of All Star online lately and there doesn't seem to be any consistency at all. One game I can hit 95 mph fastballs fair and the next I can't catch up to an 89 mph fastball.

Basically for the most part...fastballs way behind foul....off speed way ahead foul. The time in between is all ready too far apart with all the 95 plus fastball pitchers and 15mph difference in change ups which is actually pretty rare in real life. Then I recall they made that difference even more pronounced which really doesn't make any sense.

At this point it really seems like the first game everything works all right and then things just degrade after that.

I did have a great game last night...I could hit balls fair...it was great...then I got to the final game screen and realized I forgot to turn the difficulty up.

Difficulty shouldn't ramp up with pitch speed as far as I am concerned. I am old and I am sure my reaction times aren't what they once were...but, I don't struggle on any other games like I do on this.

I am getting shut out by 64 rated pitchers and when I do happen to time a pitch right my batters miss completely or pop up. If I am only getting one pitch to hit in an at bat I need my players to perform on that pitch.

I did read people on zone have not had the issues as much so I am going to give zone a try tonight. I really only want to time swings. Which near as I can tell is inconsistent and broken right now.

Seriously I had a pitcher throwing 89 mph fastballs last night after a 95 plus pitcher and I am still late on them. Something is broken. I am really sick of being late on 84 mph curveballs too...when I have to wait forever to hit an 84 mph slider. Technically the curveball even at 84 mph should be taking longer to get to the plate as it has a longer path to the plate. I guess I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Other thing I love is all star goldy getting 3 straight sliders right down the middle from the CPU and he misses the first one.....fouls the second one...and then pops up to the second baseman...all on good timing. It is happening all too much. He basically sucks for me. If I throw the same pitch to the CPU twice in a row I am most likely getting crushed.

It's not just hitting either....why are there games were when I pitch and I hit the meter consistently are my pitchers throwing the ball all over the place. last few starts with All Star Shelby Miller I can't even get through 4 innings some games because he throws two balls to all most every hitter. I think this is part of the issue. I think the game is chugging or something. I always play as the home team and when my pitcher is all over the place I know I am gonna be late or early on every pitch when I hit.

The game is not playing smoothly at times and I am pretty sure that is causing a lot of the issues people are seeing. I bought a benq monitor to eliminate all lag and it definitely helped, but, I am still experiencing the hair pulling games.

The crap part is I still win all most all my games. It just isn't fun the way it plays out. If anyone lives anywhere near Eau Claire WI and they want o come show me it isn't just me I would be down....lol

My best swings go foul, my hardest hits are constantly at people or into a shift, and just no overall rhyme or reason to whats going to be a hit.

I really wish they would find a better balance between trying to simulate the "randomness" of baseball, and allowing the user to have input in hitting, especially in zone hitting. If I'm skilled enough to constantly have my pci on or near the ball with good timing, I should see the results point blank. I don't want to hear about "sometimes perfect timing isn't the the best timing" because that's an asinine explanation. If I stay back on a pitch to the outside of the plate, that's perfect timing. I shouldn't need to be just late or late, to see better results.

Just really frustrated, and the developers have been pretty hush about the obvious changes to hitting throughout the patches for this game. Only so many times I can continue to watch the CPU Hit for authority on balls no where near the pci, while I'm constantly being penalized for good contact and timing, and hitting it foul or right at someone. Would love to be able to go back to like patch number three.
the PCI isnt the barrel of the bat. zone hitting already allows users to have a substantial input in results. to the point where its not even sim imo but i respect their skill level.

what their trying to tune imo proves zone hitting doesnt really resemble hitting the ball irl its more of a game within a game.

            Re: Hitting after Lastest Patch

Put me in the boat of "I can no longer hit," after these patches. I'm to the point where I'm at my wits end. I don't have any solution and I'm close to putting an end to my MLB video gaming for the year. Which is sad because I'm already into 2018.

When the game was first released I was crushing the ball at a ridiculous rate. I was definitely in the, "there are way too many home runs," camp. However, since 1.09 and definitely since 1.10, hitting is completely nerfed. I really don't think I can watch guys like Bryant, Rizzo, and Schwarber hit lazy flies and weak ground balls on perfectly timed pitches anymore. I realize it happens, but it happens WAY too often.

I'm still hoping for a solution but this game has been nothing short of frustrating for the past month or so.

You guys have tried bumping up the Solid Hits slider, right? It really does make a huge difference and saved hitting for me.

No I have not, by how much did you bump it?

Start with just bumping it 1 notch and if you're still frustrated with too many lazy flys than go 2. I found 1 to be the sweet spot for the most part, but sometimes I'll bump it to 2 if I'm scuffling. Trust me though, it makes a HUGE difference and is the best slider to bump if you're struggling with too much weak contact. The actual Contact slider isn't what you want to mess with since that will only make it easier to get the bat on the ball, and may actually increase lazy flys since you're putting more balls into play that otherwise would've been a swing and miss or a foul. The Solid Hits slider on the other hand will increase the quality of your hits and help you to drive the ball more consistently, which will also lead to more HR (which is why you don't really need to increase the Power slider either).

The bottom line is this one tweak alone made the game feel right again after the patches for me.

Hope this helps others as well.

Life saver bro! I just bumped it one notch and Now hitting is back to normal played about 7 games. Scored 8,4,7,5,2,8, and 3 runs. Many hits at least 10 hrs. Amazing just bumping that 1 notch changes the whole game. Thanks man, I was finally able to smash pitches I sat on in Zone, felt sooo good again! I missed some but thats baseball.

Did you bump Cpu solid hits, as well? Or, just leave it as is?

Don't know about jeffy, but I certainly did. Makes pitching way more intense and fun (IMO) since you actually fear the zone. Makes it so I give up walks without having to mess with pitcher consistency and control, and I personally find that less frustrating.

After reading all the complaints about hitting i reload the game after around one month with those settings: Legend Pitching, HOF zone hitting, default sliders. I close the application after four HR's in the same inning. Also, i see all the old problems ( Gold Gloves infielders with zero stats impact and a lot of graphical glitches ). Finally i deleted the game, after a lot of wasted time spent trying sliders and different settings. This is my last MLB The Show. Goodbye to everybody and thanks for the good time. Peace.

For now I just have CPU Power + 1 since it seems I give up a fair amount of hits on HOF pitching, but the CPU struggles with knocking it out if the park. I might try it out though as it would make it much more challenging and fun as TWW said.
