Whatever ****** is, it's probably going to be the only new thing outside of what was already mentioned added to Franchise. My first guess was trades (expanded trade system, with more than three slots per team, maybe with money added in as well) since that would help out with the trade deadline prep feature, but with the picture they put up for franchise mode, it could also mean travel, like how in 12 you could decide how your team traveled. Planes cost more money but buses had a recovery debuff.
I think they mentioned in one of the streams that it's exclusively for RTTS.

So they put up the wrong picture for franchise? Jeez, this is not starting out well.

Not excited for this at all. They've already added quick counts and critical situations to speed up your games. I see no need for 3 inning games except to condition us franchise players for DD. It's a conspiracy[emoji1]

Those asterisks have already been solved I think. You may have missed some chatter, but "phases" is almost certainly the addition to franchise mode that is blotted out with asterisks. Phases seems to be a way to sim/proceed through the season/offseason in a more organized way. In itself that seems quite useless to me, but if phases comes along with some refinement to the sign posts themselves (scouting, draft, trade deadline, waiver deadline, September call ups, free agency), then it might actually be something worthwhile instead of simply another way to play less/go faster through the mode.

As long as they didn't remove the quick manage mode I'm okay with this. Quick manage was the only one of these time savings modes that I've enjoyed.

Yes, love how this was implemented. If you're in a rush good way to get thru the game and there's still strategy involved.

I wish they had a create a coach option similar to what Madden does.

If I understood the trailer correctly, you can choose which 3 innings you want to play? If so that took development time.

It only said "make the bottom of the 3rd the bottom of the 9th" - which is exactly what the existing 3-inning game logic does. AI teams will even use their closer in the 3rd if a save opportunity presents itself.

I dont understand why they put the tagline ''every out matters'', then reduce 54 outs to 18. And what happens when the score is tied after 3? Because, you know, you dont have time to play more.

I would guess that they were trying to emphasize that in a 3 inning game, outs mean more because you only get 9 per game instead of 27, meaning your opportunities to score/win are less.

I would assume you would go extra innings and then if you're out of time, save the game, and pick it back up when you have time to play.

I will never understand, and maybe it's just me, why someone would buy a baseball sim to play less baseball, or not play baseball at all. To me, if I am paying 60 bucks of my hard earned money for a baseball sim, then I am going to experience all that baseball has to offer. To me there are so many more aspects of baseball than just the game itself. The sights and sounds of the ballpark just to name a few. You just don't get the true meaning of baseball by blowing through a game in 10-15 minutes, or even 30 minutes for that matter. Again, maybe all of this is just me.

Yeah, I mean sure. I am always looking for more sim/depth/authenticity in the game, personally.

However, the reality is there is a large population of people who purchase this game to collect virtual baseball cards, to play 15 min online against their friends, to be "collectors" of various items, to play 'stock market simulator', and to open packs. I don't really understand the draw of it, but it's the same principle that made MyTeam so big in NBA 2K. Lots of people are playing the games only to earn the virtual currency to build out their ultimate team and to brag about their teams to those they interact with.

Then, there's another large group of people who treat this title as more of a role-playing game and play RTTS. It seems like plenty of people are just trying to make the strongest character they can and playing the games themselves (short as they are in RTTS) is a sort of "grinding" they do to further this cause.

I'm not saying any of it is right or wrong, but it is good to be aware of all of these demographics and how they affect what SDS is trying to accomplish year-in year-out with the game. Lots of people who purchase the game are looking for very different aspects than others are.

                                Good post.

Quick counts was a huge want by a lot of players and IMO a nice addition.
If just an option you can elect to not use.

I have my days where time is an issue and using quick counts helps.
Don't use it a ton but options are always good.
