I like the direction rtts is headed. I do agree it was too easy to improve your player skill level. I do wish they had an option to be drafted by your favorite team if you want to.

I'm still mostly a franchise guy, but sometimes I like something different to change things up.

Looks like I will be a Control Freak for my Pitcher but always wanted a good closer but with the way you got training points it was a struggle to get your attributes up and keep them there, maybe this new system might make it more fun

And many RTTS players never venture into other modes so their stubs come entirely from RTTS

Sorry if that's how you took it but I was just stating an opinion. How the rest of you guys enjoy your game is fine by me, I just had never done it that way.

Not sure if it's been covered and to some it may be a small inconvenience but to me its a game-breaker, at least for Road to The Show. Have they fixed the jersey numbers where you get to actually keep you number if your team acquires a player with the same jersey number? Last year I had the #3, then #5, then #11. All in one season because my team acquired players with the same number. It drove me insane.

Should still be in the game imo. It made fielding feel a lot more authentic in the OF. Hate that they took it out.

An easy way to fix the complaints and issues with the Rtts archetype addition by some players, including myself, is either to give the user the ability to create additional archetypes and/or add more archetypes and more importantly at least add one archetype with all hard caps set to 99.

BOOM! That fixes my issue and every single issue I've read about Rtts' changes.

The Image of Cespedes on the Player Archetype screens show him with that Elbow Guard (I don’t know the exact brand) however The Show chose that picture to use and they are usually very careful about what pictures they choose regarding brands/equipments.

I think this new brand Elbow Guard will be in The Show 18!

All my time in The Show is spent between DD and RTTS. Have to say, I’m really intrigued about the introduction of archetypes. It’ll be fun to play with some limits, however, it seems abundantly clear that you can still make an outrageous player who will be the greatest of all time, which fine. (Mostly saying this because I keep seeing people who are worried they can’t make a 5 tool player. You absolutely can.)

I’d be willing to bet we’ll see a lot less usage of CAPs this year in DD. I envision people using a CAP at the beginning until they get a solid catcher, then disregarding trying to upgrade their CAP, thus not impacting equipment prices as much as some fear.

One thing I’m interested regarding base gains is if the game will grant contact increases for good at bats that don’t result in hits. If I had a long at bat and hit a ball hard somewhere for an out, that feels like a win in my book. Good process with a bad outcome. In years past you’d get decent training points for a long at bat with a well struck out.

Overall, very excited to play this year! Can’t wait to see how long it takes to get to the majors.

I agree that CAPs will be less common in this years version unless there are too many overpowered pieces of equipment to boost them.

And I would hope that since we got training points for solid contact '17 that it is still counted as a positive in the new version.

I already put caps on myself so it won't be too different. I just really wish the contact max cap for Ball Hawks was at least an 80 or 85. The game will definitely be harder though now, unless you do archetypes that have both high contact and power. Seems like it'll be the same. Interested to see how RTTS will continue to grow off the field in coming iterations. Also excited to see what the offseason surprise is that Russel was talking about. Maybe salary will actually mean something for your player?

Those that have both decent contact and power ratings will most likely have abysmal speed (if that matters). The archetypes all pretty much force a tradeoff where you are sacrificing one skill to be better at another.

This is a complete deal breaker for me if there isn't something similar or better to this. Playing OF in '16 was off the charts boring compared to prior years. I know they said they have changed it this year but I don't have faith it will be anything better than the horribly bland system they have now.

Anyone know what happens if you simulate games? I was a huge fan of stubs because I'm 40 years old with two kids and a wife and I don't have time to play every single game. So are penalized if you simulate games in RTTS?
