Never. I can truly say I never get bored or burned out playing. Between franchise and RTTS, I am always excited to fire the Pro up and get into a game. 17 has been so much fun to play (except the wild pitch issue), I cant wait for 18 to come out. I've been playing since day 1 and its really the only game I play.Really wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players
CFB 25 The absolute GOAT!!!
MLB 23 FOREVER 20 is better, 23 just for Guardians
Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.Comment

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
I hate to say it, but I'm in the camp of those that feel like The Show has become very stale. I'm usually rearing to go for the next version, having pre ordered as soon as I can. This year I haven't pretty ordered and am wondering if I'll even pick up the game.
The Show at one point had the most beautiful graphics of all games, but that has since been surpassed by 2k and even Madden. Franchise and RttS are stale (the improvements this year really haven't impressed me), and DD went from a cool fantasy league in its first year to a game where you now have to get 125 overall players to compete. DD also appears to be 60 to 70 percent of their focus.
I also think that these boards come into play a little bit. When I first came over to this side in 2009, the vast majority of threads and posters were mature and full of great conversation. Now, it is more polerized than ever, and I feel there is no middle ground: one has to be 100 percent on SCEA's side or 100 percent disgusted with the game. There are very few middle ground moments here anymore, and that kills the buzz for me.
I have a friend at work who has shown me his OOTP fantasy league, and I've started to dabble more and more in it. I may pick up the new Show at some point this year, but OOTP has become a wonderful game, and their new trailer has got me as excited as the I ld Show trailers at the turn of the decade. That's where I stand right now.
I also am going to really start looking into OOTP fantasy leagues......they do look incredible and immersive. I play OOTP (not nearly as hardcore as The Show) and like the rich interface and options. But I always end up craving pitching and hitting and The Show has the batter/pitcher dual nailed to a freaking tee. It just get’s my juices going and being a former ball player it gives me that fix LOL.
Playing with different classic rosters is what keeps this game always fresh for me. And SOTS is a huge immersion enhancer.
But they do need to really focus on revamping presentation to a big level (like NBA 2K) and franchise mode as well (NBA 2K). Those two elements are on the stale side.....no question. But the gameplay keeps knocking it out of the park.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 03-13-2018, 09:08 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
I don't get bored per say but just burnt out sometimes especially playing with my favorite team (Cubs) in franchise. Seem to have enjoyed playing with the Twins this year more and now with the Phillies in franchise I just started to get by til the 23rd as the Twins franchise is at the point where I want to leave off to carryover... The more competitive close games in the Twins and Phillies franchises keeping me from getting burnt out on those as much...Comment

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
I don't get bored with the game in general, but I do often get bored with some of the modes as they don't quite have enough depth to keep things interesting all the way through.
In franchise I find the second half of the season a real slog always as there is pretty much nothing for you to outside of the games, once the scouting and draft is gone, then the trade deadline, it's just 80 games in a row with nothing in between except the very, very occasional injury enforced roster moves. But then the post season, free agency and then the first half of the season roll around again and it gets engaging again.
Same goes for RTTS once you've made it to the majors, it did always feel a bit like you've made it, although they do at least seem to be addressing that a bit this year hopefully.
DD is the only mode that keeps offering new things to do, although even that gets a bit dull if you are primarily an offline player as they don't offer much in the way of single player once you've completed the excellent conquest a few times.Comment

From a guy who started with Hardball on the PC... has played ASB, MVP, MLB2k, and was introduced to MLBTS in 2006... baseball gaming has come so far. It's ok to nitpick and want things that they haven't added, but to say the game should be scrapped and they should start over? That's laughable.

Yea, technology advances over time. That's true. Baseball gaming is a part of it, so it progressed with it. I guess we're lucky that a group of developers actually give a **** enough to develop a serious MLB game because no other group seems to care.
I don't think MLB The Show should be scrapped.Do it. (Release The Show for PC)Comment

Everyone is entitled to critique a game, just because tech has increased in quality and scope exponentially over the course of time doesn't mean developers who have the luxury of operating with that tech are immune to criticism. Yeah were lucky to live in times where we have access to enhanced processing power and all kinds of neat things, for loads of more reasons than it happens to make video games more juicy. But that's neither here nor there. When our technological capabilities increase, so do our expectations. That's just logic. I would say in answer to "don't like it, don't buy it" that if you don't like dealing with those justified weighty expectations, don't get into software development.Comment

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
I start getting a "little" bored around December when I start getting that inch for new info for the next installment of MLB The Show
But I pretty much play year round and try to play at least 1 game per day.
MLB The Show 17 is still far from perfect and is missing a lot of features mostly in the Presentation and Graphics department that I personally really want in the game badly for years and years now. But overall it is still in my opinion by a long shot the best sports video game ever made and keeps getting better year after year!
Honestly I can not understand how someone who truly LOVES the game of baseball can ever get bored for to long playing MLB The Show!!!!
Last thing I can say is THANK GOD For Sony to continue to allow their first party developers to make a MLB video game. Because so many baseball games have come and gone over the years and MLB The Show is pretty much the last one standing and I pray it remains with us for a very long time right though PlayStation 20lol

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
The OP touched on a sensitive subject. SDS has done a wonderful job with The Show. Somehow they manage to bring a yearly iteration of the game to market each year and they are to be commended for it. But... they are a small developer. And that is the problem I have. Not with SDS, but with Sony. The game of baseball in our country is a very popular piece of our culture. And Sony should have respected that and assigned a top level developer like they have with their other AAA titles. When you have a small developer making a game on a yearly basis, the improvements are not going to be prominent. That's why someone coming from The Show 15 to The Show 17 may feel the game is stale and boring.
SDS is doing the best they can and it has been remarkable. But the game is stagnant. And that's all on Sony.Comment

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
Yea that's a solid question.... with the major success of MLB The Show when does SDS get the means to grow to a larger team capable of doing more in the same time frame?
I think all of us would agree that they deserve it!Comment

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
I would assume that "Top Level" would simply mean a bigger budget with a lot of assets for a game developer to apply to their titles. So SCEA is a top level manager. But San Diego Studios is the small but effective developer of the game.Comment
