I just tried this the other day. I played the first game and then did this for the next 4 pitchers. A lot of people suggest play 1 sim 5 but I didnt want to feel so separate from the team so I tried playing the first 3 innings simming 4-6 or 7 and then play with the bullpen. If I could stick with one team I could see this being the way I play

Every game, 1 game at a time. It never gets dull or boring for me.

Really don’t understand why it does this, it’s actually a major deterrent for me because I like to play the role of a GM and manage my team rather than play games as them. I want to optimize my lineups, rotation, and transactions throughout the season and let the percentages and attributes play out. It’s frustrating that they give you the option for auto/manual and then automatically sets lineups/rotation anyway if you sim. There is really no reason I can think of that this function would be in game, it doesn’t aid any style of play.

I really want to utilize year to year saves, but knowing that some SCEA guys turn into generic caps is a huge turnoff. If it wasn't for that, I'd get tons of seasons in. Anyone else feel the same?

I choose a few hitters and a pitcher (either one SP or a RP and CP combination) from my team and play all of their at-bats and innings pitched. I play a full game maybe once every 5 games, and the rest are completed using quick manage until my chosen players are at-bat or on the mound. It’s nice to have stats that are 100% user and some that are a mixture.

Re: How do you get through your franchise seasons?

I have played several different files every game every pitch (Knights 1994 Season Roster on MLB 12, 1987 on MLB 11, 1987 on MLB 14, 15, 16, YR one of my Fantasy Cardinals and most recently year one of the 2017 NYY).

This year on MLB 18 since I am playing many different seasons (check my signature). Yes I am a sick person but I love my baseball and starting Friday this will be the only game I will play everyday (save for a few hours a week of The Witcher 3 and Far Cry 5). So the variety and spice of playing different era's, types of rosters etc keeps this game so fresh for me year round.

All these files, except for The 1992 Braves Franchise I just started last night on 17 and Year 2 of my 2017 NY Yankees will be play one, quick manage 5.

1992 Braves YR1 and 2017 Yankees YR2 will be every pitch, every inning.

That Yankees Franchise I started on 17 I committed to every pitch for every season as my goal is to take that deep....like every year carry it over and keep trucking.

For all my other franchises I always play out year 1 every pitch then go to a play one quick manage 5 (for the most part) for subsequent years.
Some exceptions are divisional series (play every game) and play every game in April and September (40 man call up as well as potential pennant chase).

There is no wrong way to play. Ever.

                  FRIDAY!!!!!!

Also with carryover saves there isn't this feeling of needing to hurry thru seasons to experience the building of teams. I get thru 2 seasons without issue each new year and most of the time I get thru 3 years.
I also like to divvy my time up between The Show and NBA 2K and sometimes WWE 2K18 now that this game became great. 90 percent of my time is spent on The Show though during spring/summer up until September

I play 1 game and then sim 5. That way I get to play with every starter and am able to get through multiple seasons.

Yes definitely. I’m carrying over a franchise for the first time and was kind of hesitant because of that... but I’m going to try and see if I can figure out who was turned generic and edit them back. That’s the only thing I can think of doing because I really don’t want to restart.

Well I've got a final decision.

Classic pitching / Directional hitting / Auto Field.
I will play regular on game 1 of series then player lock on a position the rest of series... and rotate the position each game.

Gives me play time plus have ratings give the bulk of results...

In 12, I played every single pitch of every single game for the Cubs. Now that I'm married with a real job, I typically play all 162 with quick manage, then play spot games in subsequent seasons.
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

I do a mix of Franchsie and RTTS. I make a pitcher and only play his games. I’ll use fast counts and sim just about everything except him. I will play full playoff games. It gives me the best of both worlds as far I’m concerned. Last player lasted about 16 seasons over mlb 15/16.
