Agree there. My issue is I've leaned more towards GM/manage and OOTP intrigues me.

With that said... I'm now leaning towards also grabbing the Show on release day or soon after.
For me the streamlined menus and ease of flow of the "Phases" adds a lot for me.

Call me nuts but it just makes the game not "easier for newbs" as some say but easier to navigate and have things I want readily available at my fingertips...

I just need to come up with a formula to play and yet still have the majority of ratings being the deciding factor. (suggestions welcomed)
Will probably do my usual, sim/manage 1, Player lock one and fully play 1..
    rinse / repeat

Either way looks like 2 Baseball games in same week... and that's never a bad thing.....
1 for my play itch and the other for my manage/deep stat itch

This is why making things simpler (a.k.a "dumb down", which is defined as the act of making things easier and simpler to understand, often to increase popularity) can be an improvement if it's done well. Vets get easier menuing and new players and "non-franchise casuals" might give it another try, which might make the telemetry or whatever more favorable which might mean...more franchise goodies.

Simple doesn't mean less nuanced or robust...just easier to get the interface out of the way and get to the good stuff. We don't play this game to navigate menus (I don't think?) but to run our teams and play a game or twenty.

Hey I'll try it, especially if sliders apply.

Who knows, it might remind me of playing Baseball Stars or Super Mega Baseball...except with The Show's Franchise mode...

Never know until I try it, yes?

They have found a truly elegant way to say, " we've done nothing new" with franchise. I guess it would be difficult to sell a product by saying that outright. I personally would respect it more if they did. I guess I will always be stuck in a mindset of MVP 05 or the earlier Show titles that gave you the option to change ticket prices and create your own team and stadiums. I am still stuck in the days of simply being able to throw the ball around after a play. Who remembers the old baseball game for Atari when you could throw the ball around after a play and had to hit the main button to throw the ball back to the pitcher in order to continue play. Those type of things actually made baseball games fun. The show is a good game of baseball but lets be honest, Franchise mode is a sugar-coated method of playing one game after the next with no reason to really do anything else. I am highly disappointed in the news that they have done nothing new, or even bring back past options that actually made it work.

                I wouldn’t.

                I’m still wanting:

                Rotating interleague schedules
                Edit coaches
                Expanded rosters
                In season extensions

                Amongst other things.

                I don’t care about create a stadium.

I could care less about relocation and fake stadiums that's not what a GM mode is. They call it franchise mode, but your role is GM not owner. The purpose is to build a championship calibur team by drafting and developing players, signing free agents, making trades.

The logic for franchise really needs some fine tuning before they get wonky with all of these extra features some of you want.

What's the point of all the bells and whistles if trade logic remains as is. I saw Jose Ramirez, Matt Carpenter, and Salvy Perez get traded during the stream for nowhere near what it would actually take to land one of those players. I shouldn't have to control all 30 teams to prevent that stuff from happening. Free agents will sign for shorter term deals and less money than I offered them, and their interest level would be maxed towards my offer. Player morale affects players growth and performance when to many guys want to bat 3rd and get paid. Spring training doesn't have non roster invites, and you can somehow burn options on players if you don't put them on the 25 man roster.

I know they'll get franchise to a better place eventually. I just think RTTS is going to get another Dev cycle or two before franchise gets some needed attention

                        - Yep and here is the kicker the logic on Madden is horrid and the logic on the much loved 2K MyLeague is also not great either and 30 team control is absolutely needed on that game as well. What 2K does have though is a robust customization suite, quick edit system on ratings, just more depth overall....but let’s not get crazy. The Show’s franchise mode is easily the second best to 2K’s offering. Madden CFM? Don’t get me started. Not even close to The Show’s Franchise mode. Stale as stale can be. And they are trying harder? I saw that posted here.....oh lord. I am with you get that core CPU AI better. And you know what they did some real meaningful tuning this cycle and I expect it to be done again next cycle and again and again. They are listening. They do know to have a great offline franchise mode you need excellent navigation (the new phases menus are fantastic and I am one who knows every nook and cranny and love the new interface far more than what we have been using) it refreshes what is already a fairly deep franchise mode for a console baseball game. Stop comparing this to the great text sim known as OOTP. It will never be that game. And it does not have to be. 99% of the people that play The Show want to play games on the diamond. The off the field stuff is far from a priority for them. The fact that we do have a pretty deep franchise mode that IMO is now even more user friendly is great. I want more stat tracking, I want rotating inter-league schedules, I would love even more robust presentation (which is critical for me in immersion), three team trades, sending cash in trades, expanded rosters, minor league career stat tracking. But is that going to keep me from playing this amazing baseball game? Hell freaking no. This franchise mode has had small but incremental additions. Player Morale, Quirks, Top Prospect menu, Team Morale menu sorting, Radio Show, Now we have a brand new interface. Getting a new Interface is a huge addition despite what all the doom and bloomers here think. It is a new coat of paint. A much needed new coat of paint. What is wrong with that? There are so many of us who love The Show’s franchise mode but what was growing stale was the laborious menus. They listened to us and gave it a brand new skin which gives you a nice cozy feeling of new car smell but the same reliable car. Meh let’s not get into car metaphors......I am stoked for Phases. Great great addition and a huge shout out to those guys for giving us a far better and fresh look to Franchise mode where I spend gee I don’t know.....300-400 hours a year in.

I feel judging from the reception they would have been better off not doing a franchise stream at all. At least that wouldn't have gotten everyone's hopes up that anything had changed or been improved on.

But things were changed and improved upon. A lot more than you would think with all the noise.

Some great stuff in yesterdays stream. Logic tuning in Retirements, relief pitching and everyday lineups, minor league lineups.

The new interface is bad ***. It gave Franchise mode a much needed new coat of paint and a far better and user friendly UI.

                              Huge addition IMO.

I think that was a problem with the stream tbh, they buried the big news for franchise vets, that they'd tuned bullpen and lineup AI. They banged on about socks and legend cards more than they actually explained those important AI changes. They should have made a much bigger deal about them imo as they are potentially very big changes if they've done it well
