Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
They need to completely revamp financials.
I agree, go back to the yearly budget. And enough with the "hidden behind the scenes assumptions" that go on in determining how much you REALLY can spend from your budget...i.e. the dreaded "you can no longer afford this offer" when, on the face of it, the game says you'll have +200 K per week left over (meaning you're under budget).
When users can't trust the UI of a program (video game or otherwise), that's a design flaw and it needs to be rectified.
Plus...I mean...I'm the freaking Red Sox. I think my team can "afford" $150 M even if it's just using irl market sizes...which it should only for year 1...after that it should depend on what you do with your franchise and your success...even the Marlins gained fans after winning their first WS before Mr. Blockbuster tore them apart."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
I saw hits that were more varied, especially around the lines, balls that sliced/hooked right over the bag to stay fair and then rolled into corners and such, bringing the ballpark nuances more into play without forcing it. Seemed much better to me.
I mean, the same trajectory issues were there and the reliance on pop ups and 12-second hang time fly balls is still there...but that's no more "broken" than it was in the past (and what the solid hits slider is for).
Yes, the bat-ball physics still need improvement, but "broken" would mean it's not even usable or very glitchy/buggy in trying to use it. It needs adjustment/tuning, not scrapping."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

I hope they fix the trade system. Not every GM makes trades like they're Jerry Dipoto!Comment

Hitting was broken? I thought the ball physics were a marked improvement. Balls had hook and slice on them and seemed realistic with the spin the ball had. And I play on Directional. I would have imagined anyone on Zone with the PCI in their 100% control would have had even better results/experience.

For all you who want create-a-stadium who you take at the expense of having ZERO, ZIP ZILCH, NADA, NOTHING done to the presentation? And I'm being 100% serious with this question. Because Ramone or one of the other devs say during the pre-release streams last year that if they were to do create-a-stadium that's would happen NOTHING done to all the other presentation elements in the game.Comment

Dang it. I really would've liked to see draft classes, create-a-stadium, and uniform creation added so we could play classic seasons.
That being said some of the things said in this forum are insane. Someone literally said they are sick to their stomach about it, I mean if this makes you sick to your stomach life is going to chew you up.
I am disappointed too but this game is still going to be fun and a realistic baseball game. I do hope in the coming years they can produce a franchise mode that is close to that of 2k. Maybe they are working on these features little by little every year and they will add them in sometime soon.
I am grateful that the developers still communicate and read our request. I'm sure they would love to put all of these features in, they have to prioritize. They only have a yearLast edited by giantsharks; 03-15-2018, 09:40 PM.San Jose Sharks

Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
The issue for most people, giantsharks, is that they have listened to many people for years without really accomplishing anything. I did not play 14-16, but 17 Franchise felt the same as 13. I saw some things that were nice, and I am getting the game, but nothing has really been accomplished for some time now.Comment

Yeah, I picked up on that. I am with you on that piece. I was responding to the one year portion of your statement.Comment

Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
It's apparent franchise has taken a back seat to DD and now RTTS. I'm taking it all in stride, but let's get realistic here folks. I could care less about relocation and fake stadiums that's not what a GM mode is. They call it franchise mode, but your role is GM not owner. The purpose is to build a championship calibur team by drafting and developing players, signing free agents, making trades.
The logic for franchise really needs some fine tuning before they get wonky with all of these extra features some of you want.
What's the point of all the bells and whistles if trade logic remains as is. I saw Jose Ramirez, Matt Carpenter, and Salvy Perez get traded during the stream for nowhere near what it would actually take to land one of those players. I shouldn't have to control all 30 teams to prevent that stuff from happening. Free agents will sign for shorter term deals and less money than I offered them, and their interest level would be maxed towards my offer. Player morale affects players growth and performance when to many guys want to bat 3rd and get paid. Spring training doesn't have non roster invites, and you can somehow burn options on players if you don't put them on the 25 man roster.
I know they'll get franchise to a better place eventually. I just think RTTS is going to get another Dev cycle or two before franchise gets some needed attention
