I think you all are missing the bigger question here. What kind of Popcorn does CB eat, where does he get it and is there some form of sponsorship deal going on behind the scenes? In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
I remember last year them saying they were happy with where DD was and had moved on to RTTS as their primary focus for major overhaul. It would be good to know whether they ever intend it to be Franchise's turn for the love, or whether once RTTS has had it's turn we'll be back to DD again? Because it's been years now without any significant effortsComment

Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
Why is every topic here turning into a Royal Rumble?
People are allowed to give constructive criticism. There have been times where people have gone overboard before, but this topic isn't one of them. Franchise mode has been stale and largely unchanged for years now. With this blog, it's looking like 2018 will be another year with essentially the same Franchise mode that was in MLB 14.
I'm still hopeful the stream drops some more improvements, but I'm pretty sure any "big" additions are not coming again this year. And fans are allowed to express their disappointment without others charging in like a mother bear to defend the game.
On topic, I hope we learn more from the stream, fix some of the under the hood stuff like many of us have said and I'll be content.
Not as content as I would be if Online Franchise was accessible, but as most of the features in offline are new to me, I'd like for them to work.Chicago Bulls•Toronto Raptors•Carolina Panthers•Toronto Blue Jays•Toronto Maple LeafsComment

Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
True, but having played both the last few years, 2k's myleague has continued to improve. They have progression and regression sliders, draft class quality sliders, quick edit; their generated players have improved over the years, better stat and record tracking than mlb, and more. No franchise mode will ever be perfect, but regardless of which sport you prefer, it is hard to deny that myleague is the deeper, more customizable franchise mode.Comment

Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
After giving "phases" some thought I think they will be a great addition. Will help organize each aspect of a season as I'm a franchise player but probably more casual than most guys on these forums. But still would be nice to receive a more in depth experience.
Someone else posted that SDS should have an extra option for hardcore and casual players of the mode. Would solve a lot of grief.

Really curious to hear more on Trade Talks.
I thought it was just the trade block, but that has its on screen.
Guess we'll find out in a few hours.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
Pretty disappointing blog, I’m interested to see what the stream has for tonight.
Either way, I’ll be getting the game one way or the other as usual.
Really feel for some of you that aren’t getting the features we all want. So many great ideas and additions to be had.
Hopefully one day, but today doesn’t look to be that day.Comment

There is a picture of the trade screen in the blog and it does look all too familiar, so I'm hoping that it's not just a rename for the same thing from the past.Comment

Re: PS BLOG: Everything New in MLB The Show 18’s Franchise Mode
The sad thing to me is that the Franchise mode player has basically been conditioned to not expect a solid effort at improving the mode. Nobody can really spin that this isn't the case. We have been made to be understanding of the fact that other modes are what the developers really care about.
Sure, there are both irrationally positive and irrationally negative views on SDS; they are either Mother Theresa or Dr. Evil depending on whose posts you read. But, a main theme if you read this thread is "well, I wasn't expecting much and found this underwhelming anyway" or "my expectations were already low, but I will still try to enjoy playing this game anyway."
I hope SDS reads the tea leaves properly on this. In previous years, it's been mostly-to-overwhelmingly positive on OS at this stage in the marketing cycle (with pockets of disgruntled people and their long wish lists mixed in). This year, the overwhelmingly positive guys seem to be fighting a Sisyphean PR battle with their posts and are firmly in the minority with respect to Franchise mode. At the same time, it seems like everyone has a list of things that seem relatively reasonable to ask for that just haven't been added (or probably haven't been added I should say, pending the stream this afternoon). Even guys who've been on record with how much they've enjoyed the game in prior years have been changing their tune pretty substantially. I've never seen this much, well, at least we have OOTP sentiment before. Especially not now when the game's marketing machine is coming to a crescendo.
I've been playing MLB The Show since it came to PS4 (MLB 14) as I was an XBox owner who scraped by with the 2K baseball series before then. Many of you have been playing this series far longer. I don't have an exhaustive list of added features to Franchise mode over the years, but here are the things I can think of off the top of my head that they've added in my time with the game...carry-over saves, morale system, quirks, cash flow, critical situations, increased stat-tracking, trade finder. I'm not really counting "phases" on that list yet because it doesn't seem like anything other than 'sim to date' mixed with a bit of an altered presentation scheme. And, frankly, I'm not really a fan of quirks/morale system/cash flow. But, it's not like they've added nothing over the span of MLB 14 to now. They have added some things. Many will argue day late and dollar short, but the mode has actually not been 100% stagnant.
Ultimately, I find it disappointing that this will be the second straight year their Franchise mode focus has been almost entirely on clever ways to fast forward or make things simpler in Franchise mode. I mean today's blog even re-states the same talking points from last cycle about different ways and time commitments required to play the game. To paraphrase another poster in this thread: I'm not mad at you, Sony. Just disappointed.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Yeah I saw that. It appears, at least from the screenshot of the trade screen, that it is essentially the same. Hopefully there are counter proposals and such.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
