So what ever SDS improvements each year small or large it's not a problem for me, I love me some game play and eye candy.

I played the heck out of this on my Commodore 64, along with One on One: Dr. J vs. Larry Bird, and Touchdown Football!

For me the controls are better now than in 09. I think they added Pure Analog back in MLB 11 (?) so that is a game changer for me.

Hitting feels tighter and it's now possible to pull the ball. The fielding controls in MLB 17 were the best the series has seen yet.

It's difficult to gauge with MLB the Show b/c even in 09 I felt this was the best sports game I had played. I just don;t feel this game needs a major overhaul in any way and the changes I'd like to see will seem more iterative to others.

The people arguing that there's is a lack of improvement in the 10 years seem to be hung up on the graphics, but honestly, how much better could the graphics get? They're borderline lifelike. I've had people at first glance think that a real game is on my television before.

Aside from that, I see a huge difference in the animations and the stadium atmosphere. The improvements in ball physics alone (particularly last year's overhaul) are enough to satisfy a lifetime baseball gamer like myself. Not to mention improvements and additions in game modes, player models (both SCEA and created players), equipment, and the so-called "little things" we see added every year. (My favorite "little thing" is when they added animated "player photos" for players that change teams or are in the minors.)

As for the "unfair price", you have to realize that a significant chunk of your $60 goes to licensing (MLB, MiLB, MLBPA, NBHoF, etc.), and one thing that absolutely HASN'T changed in this time span: the price itself (inflation, folks).

And is $60 really that bad? I pay half that just to take my fiance to a movie, and more than that to take her to dinner. I get hours upon hours upon hours of enjoyment out of the $60 drop-in-the-bucket I spend yearly on this game.

I mean, even a trip to a typical chain restaurant like Applebees or TGI Friday's totals up to $60 pretty quick.

I think the difference when we delve into the comparison of the two (I don't disagree with him at all FWIW) is that dinner could be considered a necessity whereas games would be considered more recreation.

So if you go to Applebees, pay too much for crappy food, it's easy to omit it from your possible destinations the next time you decide to go out and eat.

With the Show, while you can easily choose not buy, you don't really have too many options if that is your specific genre of game to play.

I need to point out that the above is not how I feel about the game at all, I will buy, for me it's affordable and I will enjoy it.

I just posted the above to give reasons why I disagree with comparing it to a night out for dinner which isn't really a tangent we want to spend too much time on anyway.

I won't say it's "unfair" for it to cost $60 (a fair price is whatever price a buyer and seller agree on). I will say I usually don't pay $60 for any game these days.

I usually wait for sales or most games I get are like in the $20's on Steam up to about $40, like what I paid for Tales of Berseria. Last full price console game I got was Persona 5 for $40 (on PS3, I didn't have my PS4 then).

The Show is one of the few exceptions I'll make, if I make it (haven't the last years for a variety of reasons not necessarily pertaining to the quality of the game). Not sure if this year I'll be able to either. Will try but we'll see.

I guess these days I'm also more likely to put that $60 towards investing in a game developer's stock than buying actual games lol.

Anywhere decent (I'm a chef, so I like to go somewhere nice when I go out) is going to run $60 easily. $20-$30 per entree, maybe a $10-$15 starter, maybe a $5-$10 beer or cocktail, tip, maybe dessert, maybe coffee, maybe a digestif. I just took my fiance to a Greek restaurant a few days ago for her birthday and if I remember correctly, I believe the total with tip was just shy of $100.
