For those of you a year in, what is your ovr at?

Also, what position/archetype are you? Since those definitely will have an impact on ovr

Can you like explain this a little more and then like how do you add a 4th pitch has a pitcher then because in the past you would use your points to buy a 4th pitch.

Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

After playing this game endlessly, I think I’ve reached my final verdict: fun, but a bit underwhelming at the same time, especially with RTTS logic and several gameplay aspects.

The fun part is that The Show does better than any other competition in replicating their sport. The underwhelming part? Well, it’s a video game, and it’s not the perfect video game. There are logic issues I have: so you’re telling me that a 23 year old All-Star Catcher has to ride the bench behind a 34 year old 72 rated catcher? That just doesn’t make any sense.

I also feel like there isn’t any parity in some games and sometimes, it feels like you’re destined to lose game in and game out. I get it, you control one player and no one else, but it’s a bit ridiculous trying to rally from a 7-1 deficit three games out of four.

It might also be because I’m on Kansas City, and their team flat out sucks in 2025 aside from my 93 rated catcher.

This game is incredibly fun, but there’s some “...really?” moments here and there. Definitely has more replay value than, say, Madden or even 2K. I switched consoles to buy The Show this year and honestly, not even regretting it.

Did anyone figure out a fix to being plugged in at DH and never being able to play the field? I made a LF with the canon arm archetype, drafted by the Blue Jays and in all 9 games I’ve played it’s been at DH. I’m raking the ball right now, but would like to be able to increase my fielding ratings which I can’t do if I’m not in the field.

Chasing Ricky : the story of Chauncey Briscoe

There's some buzz in the Bay Area we're not talking about Jon Gruden's Edition to Oakland. We're not talking about the Golden State Warriors, it's April 1st today. Last night Americans gathered around their televisions and ballparks for the official opening day of the 2018 season.

Baseball is back in the Bay Area and there is a new center fielder who made his MLB debut. The speedy Rickey Henderson like center fielder Chauncey Briscoe (L/L) (76ovr) spent the 2017 season in double-a and Triple-A batting .372 hitting 10 hr & swiping 34 bases.

He will be starting CF and slated as leadoff hitter to start the season. Many scouts and analyst believe this guy is very unique but raw. He possesses 5 tool trout like potential but he isn't there yet.
His strengths are his plate vision and discipline, a batter who will battle and work the count more times than not. He is a very good contact swinger, but he tries to swing for power just enough though, if he can develop in that smooth griffey like swing we're potentially looking at a 25-30 hr guy.

Outside of that his athleticism mask his lack of range and his glove is MLB worthy but nothing superb. He also has a above average arm as he formerly was a HS pitcher and outfielder

As mentioned before speed kills, the guy isn't top end quick but if you do not take him serious as a premier threat, he will take advantage.

Oakland locals have compared him to the likes of a young Carl Crawford.

What's good, guys? I have a question, and hoping someone will answer this for me. I know you can't pick your own team, but what happens after the first year? Am I a free agent, able to sign with whoever has interest in me? Or am I stuck with the team that drafted me for all service years? During a game I heard Vasgersian say something about me being a free agent at the end of the year.

                  Thank you, guys.

Wondering the same thing, only cause of the commentator line saying we're a free agent at the end of the year (figure that might just be wrong?)

Started a mr. reliable 3rd baseman. It’s different cause I used to playing shortstop. Through 4 or 5 games I’m hitting 2nd with a .364 avg and 3 walks. I have not struck out yet.

I enjoy the new system, just focus on playing and your points will go up and down.

It used to be that basically no one else was interested in you, but not sure. I'd like to know this too because if I have to only play 1 season before I get to field some other contract offers, I'm game.

You are connected to the team that drafts you for 6 years then you become a free agent. If your traded to another team you still have to go the full 6 years to become a free agent.Real life baseball they hold your rights.

Is it at ALL possible to get drafted by the Yankees? Looking at their position players I decided to create a 3rd baseman, as they are weaker at that position than others and I wanted to play a power hitter. After crushing it in the scouting portion and the show case games (I hit a walkoff grandslam in the 2nd game) I have never been able to get drafted by the Yankees. I have simmed it more than 200 times. I’m not exaggerating. It’s powerfully annoying.

Note: I’ve also never been drafted by the Red Sox, Royals, Rangers, Cubs, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Rockies, or Padres.

Edit: My secondary position is First Base, which is another weak spot for the Yankees. I also made my character from New York and had my tryout with the East, if that makes a difference.
