Franchise mode as always. My goal in baseball games going back to Bases Loaded on NES has always been to take my team to the end and be the last team standing.
However, in 17 I found myself playing RTTS more often because Franchise mode has become quite stale and something about the menu's last year just seemed too dark and it was sort of a drag for some reason.
But I'm positive I will return to primarily Franchise mode in 18. The new layout of the mode looks fantastic and I'm glad retirements have finally been fixed. I just wish they did more, there is so much missing from the mode. I'm hopeful next year we get the big Franchise improvements.
I also play RTTS and random exhibition games from time-to-time to play as other teams. I play retro mode a bit with friends/family when they come over. I'd play it more if I could play with friends online.
I never touch DD. Hate that mode. I tried it last year and just couldn't stand it. Playing against other players who take advantage of every shortcut they can in their silly neon pink uniforms playing with teams with a mix of current stars, long retired players and people who have been dead for decades just isn't for me.Comment

I have not checked my playtime numbers for MLB 17 in quite a while. But last time I looked I was pretty evenly split between RttS and Franchise. I played more DD single player last year (vs CPU and Conquest), so it wasn't far behind RttS and Franchise. Probably about 35% RttS and Franchise, 29% DD, and 1% play now.Comment

I'm always slightly surprised to see how many people play RTTS, but that mode goes way back to last gen, so it makes sense. I also believe it was one of the first "career" type modes.
I used to be 100% franchise, but a couple years ago I started playing Diamond Dynasty and now that is my main mode. It gets a bad rap around here, but there is a lot to do, the game always stays fresh, and there's plenty of goals and missions to work toward. It also allows you to play with a lot of different players, something you cant really do in franchise. I play about 50/50 vs CPU and online.Comment

I play exhibition games mostly, but only because franchise has grown stale to me. Not a fan of Diamond Dynasty and hate the AA grind of RTTS.

I primarily play RTTS along w/ a current season mode (w/ Myself as a SP) and a '78 season mode (Thank you Hoosier). RTTS started getting stale to me and hadn't played it in a few months. Looking forward to starting up again this Thursday night.Comment

In the past, I'd play RTTS until the OSFM rosters game out, and would then switch over to mostly Franchise.
With MLB The Show 17, I started to play more Diamond Dynasty as well, so I'd say the breakdown now would be:
50% Franchise
30% RTTS

I am a lousy hitter ... is this because I have not spent the time practicing in game's batting cage or perhaps it's because I am no spring chicken in life. So because I am a lousy hitter, I shy away from many available game modes. I have bought MLB The Show every year since 2012 and every year I enjoy playing "Manage Only Mode in Season" play and contrary to what some may think, MoM gamers are very much involved in the games, we do more than just watch the game, we do make decisions that influence the out come of the game. However with that said, I recently began playing RTTS as a starting pitcher and am having tons of fun. I definitely will be carrying over some sort of RTTS pitcher from 17 to 18 and this pitcher will be on a National League team because while I may be a lousy hitter, I still want to hit. I just don't want hitting to be one of the more important aspects of the success of my RTTS player.
Oh and I recently started playing with a 100% clean screen in my RTTS games and I love it.
