Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I am really enjoying the weight of the players in the fielding this year! You take one wrong misstep, and you can forget about an 'arcade' recovery. Really makes you work the field on scorched liners or trailing bloop hits! Bravo SDS!
The game is so smooth overall, and I am still on an OG with my 4K set. I can only imagine the Pro!
And those PBR uniforms tho!Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 03-29-2018, 10:35 AM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Loving it so far. My first MLB game so still learning the ropes but it does a good job of allowing newbies to pick it up easilyComment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
A bit disturbing. Playing my 4th game of the season. I’ve scored 7 runs in the 1st inning (a rarity for me) and so far, no mound visit by CPU, or even pitcher pulled (all sliders on default).....let’s make it 8 runs and after a bases loaded walk manager comes out and pulls him. Got all 7 runs before the first out was recorded.
This many runs is quite rare, but seems AI should have jumped in a little earlier.Last edited by KnightTemplar; 03-29-2018, 11:54 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
A big positive for me has to be CPU fielding on default sliders. It's maybe the first time in the history of the series I don't feel like the CPU is universally godly on defense. Speed doesn't seem absurd, routes taken to the ball don't seem ridiculously perfect, no diving catches everywhere. It's been a huge surprise.

In fact, I don't recall seeing a mound visit at all in the games that I've played thus far.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
This game seems pretty straight forward on if you should purchase or not depending on your background.
New to the show? Buy it
Love the show already or just have a few little gripes? Buy it
Is the series stale to you? Do not buy
On the fence but baseball is baseball? Wait for sale
There's some good inorivements to gameplay, but if you're desperate for something big to get you back in to the series you're going to be disappointed.
Some positives:
-fielding seems a little more realistic. Outfielders jog to balls and time them instead of sprinting and then waiting for 5 seconds.
-outfielders don't play balls off the wall perfectly
-red on jerseys looks way better
-new strike out animations makes the game not feel so stale
Some negatives:
-Strikeout animations. While also a positive, a lot of them start out looking good and then the batter just throws a tantrum and throws his bat. Who throws their bat striking out with one out in the 5th inning?
-home run celebrations. You add like 20 home run celebrations yet not a SINGLE one is realistic. Im all for the arcadey "it's just a game" animations but at least add ONE realistic one.
-red might look good on jerseys but overall jerseys still just need a major overhaul. Numbers are too low, too thin in both front and back, jersey lettering and logos are just too small in general. And some of the new PBR looks downright bad. Play as the Orioles whites during a day game and you can see how bad the O's orange looks. It's literally brown.
-im not sold on the new attendence logic, in fact I think it makes even less sense than last year. While crowds seem better spaced out in like 80% attendence, it really just seems like there's way too many people at every game.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
Ten days ago I posted that I wasn’t buying the game. I was frustrated about the lack of additions to franchise and the removal of Season mode. However, I relented and went ahead anyway preordering it shortly before release. I’m glad I did because what I was annoyed about is far exceeded by what I love about the game. Sure, I could have dug my heels in and stopped myself from enjoying what is actually another great edition of the game on the basis of what’s missing but I allowed myself to enjoy it by putting those complaints aside. That was my point, as I’ve already explained in the first follow up post. My complaints were legit as are others posted in this thread, but my rcommendation is not to let a few issues spoil what is otherwise a great game. No game is perfect and if I was waiting for perfection then I’d have no games to play.Comment
