Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Super excited for OSFM to come out tonight. Been debating on who I want to take to rebuild. I’ll do a Braves one for sure, but then a different team. Some teams of interest are Padres, Pirates, Mariners, Orioles, or Twins.

I’ve been messing around with an O’s franchise which has been super fun. I used a prospect roaster in the vault. I Flipped the roster and added guys like Dejong, Stroman, Christian Vazquez, Justin Bour. Made them pretty competitive and we’re 15 games over .500 at the all star break. Part of me wants to keep going but it’s so hard not having a good roster. So that’s why I may start a new one with OSFM

Absolutely loving the game so far. I only have had one problem with it.

Little bit of backstory: I used to play the show all the time as a kid but it was back on ps2 so it's obviously been a while. I've been on Xbox ever since but this weekend I went out and bought a ps4 so I could play the show again. My main game on Xbox was Madden, where the franchise autosaves every little move you make. Is the franchise on here supposed to autosave? Ive played/simmed a whole season in 2 different franchises and when I load them back up it's like I never did anything. Do I really have to manually save everything?

Usually it auto saves after every game you play. At least for me. Did you check to see if there was an option for autosaves? I would think there would be.

It autosaves after the games I play myself but what about when I sim or make trades or sign free agents? I made a bunch of moves and had traded for Arenado but nothing saved so I ended up back at the last game I played in the postseason

For something like that it does not auto save for me either. You have to go in and save after simming anything

How much work is 30 team control? I have only did one team but for some reason this year I wanna do 30 teams.

How do you all play with 30 team control. Play all games, one game per series? What about playoffs? World Series?

I really wanna do 1 team that I control and play every day they do, but i usually get bored with that around august when Madden comes out.

We ended our 3 game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Red Sox to split the mini 2 game series.

Tim Cooney got the start due to Mike Leake being on the DL with a hand injury. Leake should be back for his next start. Once again our bullpen was top notch as Farqhuar, Britton, and Rosenthal combine to pitch 3 innings allowing 0 hits while striking out 6.

Next up is a 4 game series against the Pirates in PNC Park.

I’ll do 2 Yankees franchises. One where I play all 162 and one where I quick manage every inning of every game and try to get through multiple years and build a dynasty.

Then I’ll have a 3rd franchise where I turn on GM contracts and try to rebuild a team and turn them into a contender. Not sure which team yet for this franchise. Suggestions? I typically prefer AL teams (Tampa Bay, Chicago, Oakland) but am also considering teams like Cincinnati or San Diego.

Exactly how I feel about starting a Blue Jays franchise. Gonna be the first time I try to play each and every game. Will be playing on Veteran since I'm just average at the game.

Finally started my Braves franchise. The first move I made was sign Trevor Rosenthal to a one year deal for $3.5 mil with a team option for another $3.5m. I thought he could help stabilize a young pen. Then I called up Acuna of course. I decided to test out Rosenthal in the 6th against Cesar Hernandez and he promptly gave up a bomb. Hopefully that's not a sign of things to come from him. Other than that, opening day was fun. Teheran pitched well and my offense was on point. Arrieta's stuff looked flat. I love that the score was the same as opening day in real life lol.

Well guys, I did it...in game one of my Rockies franchise. Big Jon Gray is #24.

I'll admit I'm not happy with the sliders but I'm also not going to let the fact that this was still a PG. I've played 9-10 games since release and I though I had a good set of sliders, after a few blowouts and getting blown out I got five or six 6-4/7-6 games and I felt happy with that, obviously that expired. This is my first time ever playing The Show, so all this was on veteran and I'm going to take this as a sign that I'm ready for the move to All-Star.

But still, a perfect game is a perfect game and I was ready to lose it on the 1-2 count to Descalso. I'm going to savor it all the same.
And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Playing a game in may against the Orioles at Fenway and there are noticeable holes in the stands everywhere it’s a 2-0 game in the 6th on a Friday night when will you ever see Fenway with holes in the stands? Something doesn’t work with the fan logic at Fenway I feel like I’m at angel stadium lol

Here I was thinking my difficulty was too easy. My Minnesota Twins were sitting at 7-1 which included six wins in a row (1 against the Orioles, a two game "sweep" of the pirates and a three game sweep over the mariners)

Then...the Astros came to town and showed why they are among the top teams in the MLB. Gave up six HR'S in the first two games which result4d in losses of 1-5 and 3-9. We also had a terrible time hitting our self as Lance McCullers and Justin Verlander pitched superbly.

The last game of the series looked to be headed in the same direction as Josh Reddick sent the first pitch of the game into the seats. Afterward, Michael Pineda would settle down and pitch a great game of his own (7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R 1 BB 3 SO)

WE tied it up in the fourth. This is where the game stayed until the 7th when Houston took a one run lead 2-1. We would finally get the bats going in the 8th inning against RP Chris Devenski as Buxton, Dozier and Rosario took him deep for solo homeruns. This brought us into the 9th inning with a 4-2 lead.

Addison Reed came into the 9th to close out the victory as he decided three straight outs to include two strike outs.

Next week face the 7-5 Chicago White Sox in our first series against a divisional opponent.
