Yeah this is the 4th season (carryover) and he's been up until this year a constant .270-.280 hitter that hits 30 homers and drives in 80-100 runs per year.

Thus far with one game to the break he's hitting .220 with 3 homers and 34 RBI. His glove is declining as well, which leads me to consider that he won't be part of our roster next season as we have other options. It's also got me considering dealing him before the deadline, as crazy as that sounds, and trying to get something in return instead of letting him walk at the end of the year.

    Decisions, decisions..

I feel you guys. Last year for me he was on one month and completely useless the nest. Ended up finishing the year .251 with 32 homers so I have to keep him in the lineup in a run producing spot, but damn he’s frustrating to play with.

After finishing last year on a year he’s started this season 1/8 with a double and 5 Ks in the first two games.

Glad it’s not just me haha!

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

After dropping game one to the Nats in my four game series I was able to pull off the next two games and then had the Scherzer/deGrom showdown for the finale. Scherzer couldn't throw the ball over the plate to save his life, and when he did the ump was squeezing him. We drew five walks and had him over 100 pitches by the 5th inning. After a walk to Adrian Gonzalez, Cespedes hit his 4th HR of the series and that was all we would need to win the game. deGrom pitched as well as he has all year, 7 2/3 of shutout ball and 15Ks. He's got the MVP and Cy Young locked up as long as he doesn't have a complete meltdown in his last start and he's 8 Ks away from 300 for the year. I'm four games up with six to play so the division is pretty much won at this point. Is there any way of telling when my first playoff game will be so I can try to set up my rotation?

          2022 WORLD SERIES GAME ONE

          Chicago White Sox

          VS.

          Philadelpha Phillies

          Final Score:
          White Sox-4
          Phillies-2

          Sox K 15, take 1-0 series lead

The White Sox post season winning streak has reached eight games. The playoffs started off poorly for the White Sox after they went down 2-0 to the Yankees in the ALDS. Since then, they won three straight to knock out New York, swept the Astros in the ALCS and have now won the first game in the World Series.

This game started off roughly as Lucas Giolito allowed two singles and a double to start the game. The double by Mitch Haniger would knock in two and give the Phillies the early lead.

Tim Anderson did his best to recapture momentum in the White Sox bottom half of the first as he hustled around the bases for a lead off triple. Yoan Moncadas lazy infield grounder would be enough to score him and get the White Sox back to within one.

From the second inning on, Lucas Giolito and company completely dominated the Philles striking out a total of fifteen of their batters. Their cleanup batter, Nick Williams, struck out four times himself.

The White Sox would score three more runs after the first inning. The first came on a solo homer from Eloy Jiminez. Runs three and four would come off back to back Homer's in the fourth inning by Moncada and Hoskins.

The Sox go into game two with Reynaldo Lopez on the bump looking to extend their winning street to nine games.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Curtis Anders gets his first opportunity at closer and looked absolutely filthy.

He worked a flawless ninth inning, inducing a ground out and then getting back-to-back strikeouts to seal the deal.

"He looked completely comfortable out there. He was just reaching back and cutting it loose. He was in his element. If this is what we have to look forward to, then moving him into the closer spot will be a boon, " Page commented.

The Marlins had to fight their way through the rest of the game. Jason Engle fought through six innings with the Marlins up 4-1. He had to escape two nasty jams where he had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and escaped with three straight strikeouts. The second jam, he had runners on 2nd and 3rd again with one out. He then hit a batter to load the bases. After a mound visit by the pitching coach, Engle delivered a screwball away that got turned into a double play to end the threat.

"Jason [Engle] was mature beyond his years. He didn't even look like a second-year pitcher with not even a season's worth of innings under his belt. Never panicked and trusted his stuff, " the pitching coach commented.

At first, it looked like a start to forget. Engle gave up an in-the-park home run to Griffith Stadium's spacious alleys. But the young pitcher never got flustered and kept it easy for the bats to claim the lead.

Only other downside on the day was Delgado. He didn't have his stuff and gave up a run in the 7th and left a mess on the bases for Carlos Guerra. But the new ace setup man induced a popup and got a strikeout to hold the Cubs at bay.
"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

This division title is not coming as easy as I thought it would after being four games up with six to play. I got crushed by Atlanta in the first game of my series, 12-2, then Trevor Rosenthal blew a 2-1 lead in the 8th the next day and we lost 5-2, bringing my lead down to 2.5 games with four to go. Game three I bring another 2-1 lead in to the 8th and get in a jam so I bring in Familia for a four out save. He gets out of it in the 8th and blows the lead in the 9th. Fortunately in the bottom of the tenth I got a two out double from Mesoraco and then some Wilmer Flores walkoff magic to win 3-2. Magic number is down to one as I start a series with Miami, even though we had an off day between his starts I'm going to start deGrom on regular rest for the series opener so that he is available to start game 1 of the divisional series

You have to pick up the pitch through several lighting changes. Offense absolutely dries up. Luckily the CPU seems to be affected by this as well.

Chicago, Seattle, Texas, and Oakland can all be a struggle at certain times of the day.

The worst offender though (IMO) is Detroit. Eff that place.

                  2022 WORLD SERIES GAME TWO

                  Chicago White Sox

                  VS.

                  Philadelpha Phillies

Sox Walk Off to 2-0 World Series lead

Eloy Jiminez came to bat with one down after Vladimir Guerroro Jr struck out to lead off the bottom of the ninth. On the second pitch of the at bat, Jiminez was able to stay back on a low change up and absolutely crush it to left field. The only question after the ball left the bat was if it was going to stay fair. Fans, coaches and players stared up to the sky as the ball continued to slice toward the foul pole. As the ball crossed by the foul pole, Chicago arubted as the ball was seen passing behind the pole for a homerun! The White Sox walk off and take a 2-0 series lead.

The Sox offense was slow out of the gate as they only had a single hit by Yoan Moncada going into the 6th inning. Down by three, this was the time they needed to get it going. Dom Nunez would get the offense going with a single which would be eventually be complimented by a two run home run by Yoan Moncada. Rhys Hoskins almost went back to back with Moncada for the second time this series but flew out to the warning track in left field.

The seventh would see the White Sox tie the game when Michael Conforto hit his own solo homer to tie the game at three. Jose Torres, who was brought into the game in the 8th, would get into quite the jam in the top of the ninth. He pitched his way into trouble as the bases were loaded with just one out. Manager Joe Maddon stayed with his usual dominate lefty however and Torres responded magnificently striking out Stephen Piscotty and J.P. Crawford to keep the game tied heading into the bottom of the ninth.

Mark Leiter was brought in to pitch the ninth for the Phillies and would get the loss after Jiminez crushed the walk off homerun.

The Sox now hold a 2-0 series lead as the teams travel to Philly for the next three games.

In game three, Michael Kopech will take on the national leagues rookie of the year Sixto Sanchez (coolest name ever)

**it should be noted that Aaron Nola is still on the Phillies but is in their bullpen despite being better (84 ovr) than two of their starters (83 OVR AND 79 OVR)

Under gameplay options go to general and then select advanced and you can set injuries to manual. Then when you go to the dl section you can hit L1 and it will let you manually injure players. Don't forget to turn injuries back on if you want injuries to occur in your franchise after you manually injure the players you want to be injured

Can you also do this with the 30team cpu roster control on, since I also export some players that end up being missing players from the previous seasons and sometimes after.

The regular season has officially drawn to a close. It took 160 games, but we were finally able to clinch the division thanks to another Jacob deGrom gem, as he tossed a complete game shutout. He finished the season at 18-4, a 1.82 era, 307 Ks and 228 innings pitched, and took home the MVP and Cy Young. Offensively, we're a HR or bust team. Joey Gallo is the only player in MLB history to hit at least 40 HRs with less than 90 RBIs, I had two guys do that as Frazier had 41/88 and Cespedes had 44/88, we just don't ever get guys on base. Jay Bruce also had 32 HRs with only 63 RBIs and Conforto had 34/77.

Now it's on to the playoffs where I'm the #2 seed and facing the Dodgers, who I went 1-5 against in the regular season. Washington is hosting SF in the wildcard and the winner will face the Cubs who won 112 games. It should be a fun post season in the NL, Washington is the only team I dominated, going 12-7. I took the season series 4-3 vs the Cubs and SF won the season series 4-3 vs us.

                              Philadelpha Phillies

                              VS.

                              Chicago White Sox

                              Final Score:
                              White Sox-10
                              Phillies-3

Conforto's Big Day Propels Sox To 3-0 Lead

Mark Leiter has had back to back World Series appearances that he would like to forget. After giving up the walk off homerun to Eloy Jiminez, he was again called into the game in the ninth inning of game three.

The inning started off well enough, getting pinch hitter Milo Griffiths to ground out on the first pitch of the inning. The second hitter, Dom Nunez hit a lazy fly ball to the outfield for the second out. Then, the top of the order came to the plate. A single by Tim Anderson and a double by Yoan Moncada had the White Sox poised to add on to their 6-3 lead. The next hitter was Rhys Hoskins who had hit his 7th post season homerun earlier in the game. The Phillies showed their respect to Hoskins and intentionally walked him to load the bases. In steps Michael Conforto who had also homered earlier in the first inning after he went back to back with Hoskins. A few pitches into the at bat, Leiter would leave a hanging curve ball up in the zone. Conforto timed his swing perfectly and as soon as it left the bat, the base runners began jogging toward home. The ball went well over 400 feet for a grand slam!

The White Sox find themselves just one game away from a world series sweep. Although it would be nice to get the championship in front of their home crowd, a sweep would be even more satisfying.

                                Final Score:
                                White Sox-4

Maddon brings World Series title back to Chicago

Joe Maddon won two world series championships as the manager of the Chicago Cubs. This year, he brought another World Series championship to Chicago, this time to the good guys on the South side.

Game four was a hard fought game that took twelve innings, but in the end, the White Sox hoisted the Commisioners trophy as they completed the World Series Sweep.

The final runs of the game came on a Rhys Hoskins two run homer in the top of the 12th inning. With Hoskins 8 homeruns in the postseason, he will likely be named the post season and world series MVP. Those eight combined with his fifty-eight in the regular season gave him sixty-six for the year.

The White Sox dominated the whole season and finished off by winning eleven in a row in the playoffs to bring their first championship back home since 2005.

The offseason will likely see the White Sox lose several key players as multiple just finished the final year on their contracts.

**5th year of my franchise and we finally got a world series. We were ranked as the #1 team in the league and really had put together a dominating team. Our last two post season series were against two teams that we had about 20 more wins than they did in the regular season so two straight sweeps to close out the Championship run wasnt really too crazy plus most games were really close.

I'm interested to see how we look after the offseason due to the contracts running out on key players that we likely can't afford.

Well, heres for trying to repeat in 2023, thanks for coming along for the ride with me it's been a blast.
