Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
Well I got to make a choice.
I am in my 6th year in my Reds Franchise and haven't made the playoffs yet. My AAA team Louisville Bats has made the playoffs aroundd 4 times. I am down to about 3 choices what to do.
1. Play out this carry over and do a farm rebuild. I send my 70+ OVR players to AAA and 69 and lower OVR to AA ball.
2. Start over with the Reds using this year OSFM rosters.
3. Start over with another team with a good farm system based off of MLB Top Farm Systems.
I am looking for opinions.Last edited by VTWiseGuy; 04-10-2018, 08:10 PM.Cincinnati Reds|Cincinnati Bengals|Virginia Tech HokiesComment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
About two weeks into my Yankees franchise playing every game so far using the OSFM roster. At April 13th. Started with the real opening day roster meaning no Bird or Ellsbury for now. So far we are 10-3, 1st in the division. Boston is in second at 6-6. Started off by taking 3 out of 4 against Toronto, swept the brief 2 game set at home vs Tampa, then took 3 out of 4 against the Orioles losing the last game of the series. Just finished off an intense 3 game series vs the Red Sox at Fenway. Took the series opener in a close 7-6 win in 10 innings after Boston tied it in the 9th, Severino vs Pomeranz. Boston responded in game 2 with a 6-2 win. A very deceiving final score, it was only 1-0 Boston going into the bottom of the 8th. Sale won that duel vs Tanaka. Didi left late with back pain, day to day.
We took the series finale and the series with a 9-6 win, CC Vs Price. In both of those 2 wins over them the Boston offense just wouldn’t go away. Pretty relentless. Had to throw everything at them as far as our elite bullpen goes in both the W’s. Used most of all our dominant relievers in both wins to stop them. Stanton made it rain bombs down on Fenway Park with 2 HR’s in game 1 and 2 in the finale. Introduced himself to Sox fans well.
Signed Trevor Rosenthal before that series finale, demoted Holder. 1 year deal, low risk high reward opportunity. Further reinforces the pen and is a great fit for the flamethrower theme we have going on with his 94 velocity with Kahnle, Betances, and Chapman.
Judge is hitting 306 AVG with 4HR. A 327AVG and 5 bombs for Stanton. Only a 234AVG for Sanchez but 6 HR’s. Walker is performing great with a 324 batting average. Drury is killing the ball hitting 390 with 6 HR’s and 15 RBI’s. 292 AVG for Austin. A frosty cold start for Gardner, hitting 209 with 1 HR. Gray and Montgomery are looking great early. 1.13 ERA for Gray. 0.61 ERA for Montgomery. Andujar is playing very poorly so far just a 140 AVG getting consistent AB’s. If it continues might have to send him to AAA for more seasoning.
Current main lineup is:
Gardner CF
Judge RF
Stanton LF
Sanchez C
Didi SS
Walker 2B
Drury 3B
Andujar DH
Austin 1B.
Rotating Judge, Sanchez, and Stanton through the DH spot. Alternating a lot at 1B between Austin and Andujar.
Next up, a 3 game set with Detroit on the road.Last edited by Rocket32; 04-10-2018, 10:54 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
I have an angels franchise and I've been doing some crazy trades bc it seems that the computer is pretty bad at trading hahaha. I got syndergaard, smoak, Kyle hendrick and yu darvish. So yea my rotation is freaking stacked and same with my line up.
Right now I'm mid may, and Upton is leading the league in Hrs with 17 batting 330 and trout is leading in avg batting around 350 Noah is also leading in ksComment

I just play on default sliders. Hall Of Fame pitching and hitting, forgot to include that in that post, oops. Only slider change I make is drastically lowering the trade frequency slider early in the season since realistically you aren’t gonna see major trades going down in April or May. I use 30 team control as well, just to be able to reverse a CPU trade in case they do something really dumb or extremely unrealistic.
Always roll default sliders in this game, never felt the need for sliders with The Show. I like and think the gameplay is fine as is. Glad about that, means I don’t get stuck in slider hell with The Show like with Madden at times.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
Not gonna go into much detail about the team in this one. We are 56-74. On pace for a 67 win season. Our worst since 2010. We did end up making a couple trades.
On July 25th we traded Lucas Duda to the Rockies for 21 year old pitcher Mike Nickorak. The Rockies were 61-39. 4.5 games back of the Dodgers and leading the WC. Duda was hitting .259/.353/.462 with 19 HR and 63 RBI. In his 5 games after the All Star break he was 8 of 24 with 3 HR. He is now hitting .251/.344/.451 with 25 HR and 84 RBI. The Rockies are 81-53 and still leading the WC.
At the deadline we sent Moustakas to the Angels for 19 year old SS Nonie Williams and 24 year old reliever Jake Jewell. The Angels were 54-54. 1.5 games out of a WC spot. Moose was hitting .273/.329/.508 with 22 HR. He is now hitting .280/.334/.518 with 29 HR. The Angels are 71-64. Half a game out of a WC spot.
Standings
Spoiler
The divisions look pretty set. Cardinals, Yankees and Angels are the only teams that really have a chance to take over 1st in their divisions and that is still highly unlikely. The Wild Card race isnt much more exciting. Rockies and Cardinals seem set in the NL. Brewers have an outside shot but only play the Cardinals 3 more times. Yankees and Blue Jays leading the AL with the Angels half a game back. Looks to be the only race worth watching at this point.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
Playing every game in my Yankee Franchise, currently 18-4, Astros are 20-4. Sanchez is hitting over 400, Judge is hitting over 330 with 9 HRS Stanton is hitting over 300 with 6 HRS, the team is dominating on all facets. Team BAA is over 300 we lead the league in hits, doubles, and triples. Pitching wise we have the 2nd lowest ERA as well. About to face-off against the Twins. I play on HOF pitching and hitting but i feel its too easy. I think part of it cause the team is stacked, however i feel if i change to legend it'll be too hard, or unrealistic.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
Finally decided on a team to play with. Chose the Colorado Rockies, havent made any roster changes yet. Playin Ian Desmond at 1B for now.
2 games in, won both and I've only given up 1 run total (playing dynamic difficulty). Nolan Arrenado is an absolute beast in this game, really excited to play with him. Already has 1 HR and 5 RBI in two games. Really looking forward to playing with this team.
For any one who is playing with them, what kind of moves have you made to bolster the team?Comment
