Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Epic game on April 24th or 25th in my A's franchise. Going into game two in Texas against the rangers I had run up a 7 game win streak. In that first game of the series against the Rangers, I had busted out for 10 runs against them.

However, they got my starter in game two for a three-run spot early. My offense was just not getting it done So going into the last inning I was just on that it is going to be what it will be the thing. Should have saved those runs from the previous game thinking.

All the sudden their closer was throwing what seemed like batting practice against me and I was hitting balls all over the yard. before I knew it I was tied thriee runs apiece then I had taken the lead.

I thought for sure that my win streak was gone and over I live to fight another day. I'm hoping to keep it going and go for the Cleveland Indians mark of 22 straight.

30 games in with my Jays franchise. Given how terribly I've been hitting, we're suprisingly sitting at 17-13. Aledmys Diaz is tearing the cover off of the ball, but everyone else seems to have forgotten how to hit (Or it's me).

My rotation is pretty much all I've got going for me right now. Stroman and Sanchez have been beauties, AceStrada was unhittable in his first 3 starts, but has fallen off a bit, Happ has been pretty good, and Jaime Garcia has been a serviceable 5th started.

When it comes to the back end, apart from Osuna, my bullpen has been a trainwreck, which makes me think that the comeback code is back in this game. Kidding. I'm using metered pitching and as the game goes on, I start to pay less and less attention and all of the sudden start missing my spots. RIP Tyler Clippard, Danny Barnes and John Axford, who have all been victims of my poor play, and are all members of the Buffalo Bisons now.

The past couple of years I've had trouble sticking with the Jays because they've been really good, but I'm enjoying retooling this team and slowly integrating prospects into the lineup (Teoscar Hernandez at the start of May, looking to bring up Alford in June if his performance in AAA holds up).

Question for those who use 30 team control. This is my first time ever doing it and I followed HustlinOwls video. I set it up just like he said.

I am going to rebuild the rangers. I decided to make a separate save and just sim a month or two just to get a feel for what I should expect in 30 team control. When the minor league teams season starts it says basically all the teams don't have valid line-ups or rotations. Is it safe to allow the CPU to auto fix all?

Im using OSFM v1.5 rosters but set up to 40 man.

        Thank you all!

Well not only did the Reds knock our pitching staff around to the tune of 12 hits in route to a 6-2 victory, but we lost Magnerius Sierra for 2-3 months due to a broken arm when I had him slide into first base on a bang bang play.

Trying to decide between Harrison Bader, Jeremy Hazelbaker, and Nick Martini who to bring up to fill his spot. Tommy Pham will likely become the everyday CF'er, but not entirely sure. Really screws up the balance of our lineup as Sierra was our leadoff hitter.

          Damn.

EDIT: I didn't go with any of the three. I decided to bring up Oscar Mercado. Best all around player that can play center, since outside of Pham, we really don't have anyone else on the active roster who can play center. Plus I'm not too happy with Pham's play thus far.

Things might be looking up as we took 2 of 3 from the Cubs and Gilmartin (LRP) just came off the DL.

So a quick update on my Rays franchise:

After quick managing about 12 AAA games along with my Rays games I decided to give my 1B prospect Jake Bauers a taste of the majors because Cron was still playing awful.

To give Bauers his best chance to succeed I decided to platoon him against RHPs. When I went to play his first game, I noticed his OVR dropped 4 points. I checked his morale and he was angry at his role and his contract. His expectations for his role was NONE yet he was upset that I was platooning him.

How does that make any sense?

I am at the end of April and lost Smoak for 2 weeks, so I brought up Hernandez. Grichuk is batting .151 and Pillar .189 so I will give him lots of ABs for the two weeks.

                Good luck!

Thinking of starting a second franchise, one with the Miami Marlins. Just because their farm system is a joke, and I want to re-build it. They will consistently get a Top 2 pick in the draft as well, since their roster is just as bad. I enjoy the draft and development process just as much as playing the actual games.

I'm enjoying my Braves franchise, but that's an easy fix, since they're LOADED with the top farm system in baseball. Ronald Acuna Jr is already an 88 in 2020, Dansby Swanson a 91, Kyle Wright an 83, etc.

winning streak snapped on a walk-off home run by who I can't remember anymore. I literally have slept since them. as tired as I felt during that game and as much as I was yawning I should have been playing that game to begin win but I did.

the game went tied into to ninth 0-0. I hung a slider I think or a curveball and it got spanked hard into the seats to end my 8-game win streak. Kids take it form me if you're even a bit tired... never try to play video games... it will only end up badly. I need to order more G-Fuel

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

After losing our first game, the Rays bounced back to take the next two from the Red Sox on the back of hugely impressive pitching performances from Fria and Snell, with Snell throwing 6 hit no hit innings before eventually being chased by 2 hits to lead of the 8th. Chaz Roe came in helped keep the shut out in place with some help from some over enthusiastic baserunning leading to a man being thrown out at the plate with no outs.

The bats came alive for Faria, with homers from Ramos and Miller powering us to a 6-2 win over former Ray, David Price, whereas Snell was backed by an incredibly unlikely 2 homer day for weak hitting Daniel Robertson. Given his tiny power rating I'd be amazed if he hits another all year, but his two solo shots were enough for a 2-0 win for the good guys.

Some bad news on the injury front with Kevin Kiermaier hurting his knee trying to break up a double play, resulting in him being out for a couple of weeks. That has forced us to call up rookie Justin Williams to help out in the outfield.

Going better than expected so far.

How does everyone determine when to send down or call up a prospect in your franchise?

A little update on my Mariners complete rebuild. I am about to enter July 28-51. Has been a pretty rough year. After doing what someone recommended with blowing up the roster and starting over with rebuild the farm system, it’s been awesome! I did keep Zunino around and I’m glad I did. My pitching has been probably one the biggest issues. When my starter pitchers do well, my bullpen gives it up or my offense stalls. I really cannot wait for the offense so I can start turning this team around! After finding good sliders and locking things in I’m cruising and enjoying the heck out of this game! I’m sure the budget will be a an issue but I did quite a lot of research On it and watch fair amount of videos, I think I’ll be okay and know how to handle it.

I'm finally starting my franchise mode today. I am using 30 team control. I will be playing as the Cubs and I also will be doing quick manage/player lock for the White Sox.

lol I've been itching to start a franchise with Miami, but I can't deal with that stadium. I tried playing an exhibition game there a few nights ago and wow. Neon green walls and that monstrosity over the CF wall...**** whoever designed that place. For now I'm still going strong with Cincy

And I totally agree with you about the Braves. I want to enjoy playing with them, but it feels the work is already done. They just need somebody to take them to the next level. I like completely rebuilding a team in my image. Good luck with Miami though. You have stronger eyes than me.

Doing the A's five games in and already sick of them telling me Krush is a free agent. Worst of all was them saying he wasn't off to a great start. He was hitting 666 3hrs and 8rbi. Might have to turn off commentary if it keeps up.
