Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Currently on May16 on my Red Sox franchise. Gotten off to a very hot start at 32-12 with a 7 game lead on the Yankees. The offense has been on fire outside of a couple players. The worst thing so far is when Dustin Pedroia came back from injury and went 3 for 37 with no extra base hits. I put him back on the disabled list to buy some more time since Nunez has been fantastic.

    Current lineup:

RF Mookie Betts (.281, 10 HR, 31 RBI, 11 SB)
LF Andrew Benintendi (.271, 8 HR, 34 RBI, 4 SB)
    2B Eduardo Nuñez (.350, 3 HR, 32 RBI, 15 SB)
DH JD Martinez (.330, 17 HR, 39 RBI)
    CF Jackie Bradley ( .281, 5 HR, 15 RBI)
SS Xander Bogaerts (.301, 0 HR, 26 RBI)
    3B Rafael Devers (.255, 6 HR, 29 RBI)
    1B Hanley Ramirez (.252, 4 HR, 14 RBI)
    C Christian Vazquez (.278, 1 HR, 9 RBI)

    Rotation:
    Chris Sale (7-0, 1.16 ERA, .73 WHIP, 89/13 K/BB)
    David Price (3-5, 4.01 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 51/14 K/BB)
    Rick Porcello (5-2, 3.88 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 46/8 K/BB)
    Drew Pomeranz (1-2, 4.37 ERA, 1.48, 49/14 K/BB)

The 5th spot has been filled by Hector Velazquez(current 6th starter), Brian Johnson, and Eduardo Rodriguez(just got back from injury). Johnson got smacked around in his 2 starts while Velazquez pitched great his 2 starts. Rodriguez has been up and down. Terrible his first two starts but hasn't allowed a run in his last 3.

Currently 15-3 with the Yankees, their offense is absolutely dominate and the bullpen is INSANE. I play every game in the season, on HOF pitching and hitting. Sanchez is hitting 440 Judge and Stanton are killing it! Just crushed the Marlins in back to back games lol RIP.

Anyone else having trouble with budget in the first offseason? I’m using the Phillies who definitely have money to spend this coming offseason but yet I can’t sign anyone in free agency without the “the phillies can no longer afford (insert name)” anyone know a fix or why this still happens?

Just finished up my first game with my Bucs franchise. Came back in extras to beat the Tigers 3-2.

Colin Moran is rated a 61 in the current rosters I’m using OFSM 1.5.

Anyone think this is a bit of an underrating? I know these aren’t really updated ratings wise from SCEA but seems low.

Alright, I’m getting ready to start a Cincinnati Reds Franchise! My goal is to play all 162 games this year! I’m using TNK HOF Sliders for this Franchise also, solid slider set and should be fun! Props to him!

I have decided to use OSFM 1.5, but i tweeked it, still 25 man rosters but with a twist! After all it’s my baseball world right? I went through every team and only allowed 5 SP, 6 RP, 1 Closer, 2 Catchers, 6 Infielders, and 5 Outfielders to start the regular season and that’s for MLB, AAA, and AA, every one else goes to single A ball! This is ALL BASED ON RATINGS per each category! The catch is EACH POSITION MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE STARTER AT EACH OF THE POSTIONS IN EVERY LEVEL NOT INCLUDING SINGLE A, with that being said, some people got bumped one way or the other! After that, it’s up to the CPU to fill the other teams 40-man rosters based on injuries and what have you through the long grueling season!

My first order of business as the New GM of the Cincinnati Reds, the entire coaching staff and all the current scouts have been fired! Lol. Need to hire better people with better attribute contribution boosts towards the roster. Some I may rehire but will most likely play a different role in the organization. Time to clean house and get a better product on the field for the fans! Only have 3 years to make an impact so let’s see what happens! Reason I say that, if The Show 19 doesn’t have some BIG EYE CATCHING IMPROVEMENTS, I’m going to just pass and keep 18 rolling along! Time to stop buying every years version and enjoy one for a good couple years!

TIME TO PLAY BALL!!!! GO REDS!!

I've finally found some good sliders. My Pirates are 10-2 and finished off a swee of the cubs in a 4-2 12 inning showdown. In bottom of the 9th,10th,and11th the Cubs stranded 8 guys on base. talk about clutch pitching!

Trevor Williams allowed his first run of the season and after 21ip he's got an ERA of 0.43!

We snapped the Brewers 9 game winning streak with a 5-2 victory. Stephen Vogt hit his first homerun as a Cardinal. Jack Flaherty improved to 3-0 with another good performance. He struck out 8 in the contest.

We claimed Juan Ozuna off waivers from the Red Sox. He adds a lefty to our rotation and has good potential. In a corresponding move, and continuing to break away from the norm, we have traded Mike Leake to the Padres for an outfield prospect. Our rotation is deep and with the addition of Ozuna, room needed to be made. We have thought about trading Leake in the past, but with the claim of Ozuna and Leake off to a horrible start (he's only pitched 8.2 innings total in 2 starts with a plus 12 ERA) we felt that this was the time to make this move. I actually thought about trading him during Spring Training, but with the mix up on my carryover and having to skip Spring Training, it is taking place now.

Leake will head to the west coast where he is from and wants to play and will add some veteran leadership to the Padres. The Padres actually attempted to trade for him in my last season but I didn't like what they were offering at the time.

EDIT: Leake went from 77 overall to 83 due to morale boost for being close to home

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Sports video games never fail to expose my OCD. I'm on like my 5th franchise already but I think this one will stick. I took my own advice and started one with the Reds. There's a lot to like. Nice unis, beautiful stadium, offense is in place, pitching is in shambles. During Spring Training, I sent Votto (17 mil) to the Yankees for David Robertson (8 mil), Justus Sheffield, and Clarke Schmidt. We dumped a ton of salary and got a future ace. Yankees got the 1B they needed. The infield looks good right now. I have Senzel at 3B and moved Suarez to first.

I'm about to play game #2 against the Nats. I lost the opener 10-7 in 12 innings.

I like playing Franchise Mode just wish when you go to put in a roster the computer doesn't takw over the GPU teams, plus if you manager all 30 teams the score board don't work for some reason? Has anyone else ran across this??
