Hope this is an OK spot to ask this as I don't want to create another thread.
I'm looking to start a franchise using the OSFM rosters. I am a Mariners fan and that's who I normally use but I quickly lose interest and end up in just playing RTTS. This year I've decided to change that by picking a decent team without some exciting youth to keep things fresh. I don't really want to go full rebuild because I don't see myself making a TON of trades.
That said, I've narrowed down my team choice to the White Sox and Orioles.
One thing I really like about the White Sox is they are really young and they have a ton of talent, especially at the pitcher spot. But they are not exactly ready to win now, so I have a couple of questions.
1) How fast do players develop and do they develop during the season or just at the end? I plan to play every inning of every game and will probably do 3 seasons.
2) How do you guys know when to call players up? The Sox have a couple of really nice pitchers with A potential in the minors. Their current starters in the majors aren't much better (Shields for instance). However, most streamers and YouTubers aren't using the young guys. I'm assuming there is a reason behind this that veterans of the game understand.
There are a couple of things I like about the O's over the Sox. One is the division and the other is the fact that they have a nice mix of star talent and youth, although not as nice of youth as Chicago. Plus I really like the trade potential of Machado and Britton if things are going poorly in year 1. It feels like the Sox only have an aging Abreu.
For an average to above average Show player, what team makes the most sense?
