Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

We are currently 3-8 since the All-Star Break. Thankfully the Cubs have struggled just as much so we maintain a one game lead over them. The Pirates have been red hot in the month of July and after the break and have moved to within 5 games to make it a three team race at the moment. The Reds were moving up quickly as well...but have lost 4 straight and have fallen back to 9 games out. The Brewers are just trying to get to the 2022 season.

We are in a slump where out pitching has let us down, primarily the bullpen. Both Roberto Osuna and Sam Freeman have 2 losses since the break, which means they account for 4 of our 8 losses in this stretch. Our hitting has been bad over the last 4 games as we've only managed a total of 17 hits in 4 games.

Hopefully we get things turned around before the Cubs do, or before the Pirates close the gap even further. If not, we may find ourselves playing catch up as the season winds down.

MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Cleveland Indians are the 2019 World Series Champions!

After sweeping the A’s in the ALDS, the Indians faced off with the Dodgers and old teammate, Michael Brantley, for a chance to win it all.

Game 1 - jumped on Kershaw for 6 runs leading to a 6-2 win. Kluber only pitched 3 innings after being pulled with an injury but the bullpen came together and led us to the victory. Rookie catcher, Jesus Sierra, came up clutch again with his second grand slam of the postseason.

Game 2 - tied 3-3 going into the 10th in LA, Kiermaier put us up with a go ahead RBI double. Former Dodger Pedro Baez, one of our setup guys, pitched the final inning to the Dodgers righties to pick up the save. Indians up 2-0.

Game 3 - This was our worst game of the postseason as Clevinger gave up 8 hits and 6 runs in 4.2 innings. Alex Wood shut our bats down while pitching a CG and racking up 12 k’s. Dodgers go on to win 10-3 behind Bellinger’s 4 RBIs. Indians lead series 2-1.

Game 4 - Walker Buehler had us off balance all night and led his Dodgers to a 4-1 victory. Series tied 2-2.

Game 5 - We went back with Kluber on the mound in game 5 and he delivered. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 5 hits, 2 runs, and 9 k’s. Kershaw pitched a strong game as well as the game was tied 2-2 until the bottom of the 8th. Regular Season MVP and World Series MVP, Edwin Encarnacion launched a go ahead homer to give us the lead. Brad Hand came in for the save as the Indians win 3-2 before traveling back to LA. Indians lead series 3-2.

Game 6 - Carrasco set the tone early and threw 5 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 run. He was pinch hit for in the 5th, allowing Logan Morrison to step to the plate and drive in a crucial run from second. The bullpen came on to only allow 1 more run in the 9th and hold the Dodgers at bay to win the game 3-2 and finally bring back a World Series title to Cleveland.

It was a fun year as I expected to run away with the AL Central. But it was a bit more challenging as the majority of my guys underperformed at the plate. We finally got the bats hot and found ourselves on a winning streak during the last month of the season to help us pull away and win the division and pave the way for our playoff run. Our pitching definitely led the way and was the main reason the trophy is back in Cleveland for the first time in a long time.

I’m probably gonna step away from The Show and play a little Battlefield and NBA 2K, until the real season gets closer. But if I know myself, that won’t last long and I’ll be back on the virtual diamond soon. We shall see lol

Good luck with your franchises, guys. I’m definitely gonna keep popping in to keep up with your progress. Now the wait for ‘19 begins!

The Chicago Cubs advance to the NLCS for the first time since winning it all in 2018!

Although the series against the Wild Card game winning San Diego Padres ended up being a sweep, it was anything but a cake walk. We won a back and forth game 1 6-4 with a 7th inning comeback. Game 2 was no easier as we had to hold on late to secure the 7-6 victory. For game 3, we travelled to SD and we were able to escape with a 5-2 victory and the series sweep.

It's now on to the NLCS to take on the 98 win Philadelphia Phillies.

Well, the win streak is over at 19 games. Cubs salvage a win in the 3-game series with a 5-4, 13-inning victory.

It was the first loss in the month of July for the Mets, who are up 9.5 games on the Nationals.

Made it to the 2018 All-Star game. We're 60-35 at the break, 1.5 games up on the Nationals.

Freddie Freeman, Julio Teheran and Arodys Vizcaino represented us in Washington. I'm biased, but I thought Eric Thames and Ozzie Albies deserved to go as well.

Freeman won the Home Run Derby. He had to beat teammate Thames in the semifinals before besting Cody Bellinger. The NL won the ASG 14-1 (I simmed it).

Now we've got a key three-game series in Washington to open the second half.

CB, your Cards traded Jack Flaherty, Brooklyn Bridges and Sam Tuivailala to the Padres for Wil Myers just before the break.

How do the games feel mlblover when playing them out on default All-Star?

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

As you can clearly see I can still totally, for the most part, dominate on all-star pitching. Hitting is ok if I could just have more swing discipline for the most part. I have games or rather moments in games where I can take pitches until two strikes and once in a BLUE MOON get a walk.

Then there are moments I think after I get a hit or whatever that it all just shuts off in my head and I'm back to blindly hacking at nearly well mostly, oh hell every freaking pitch that the pitcher throws.

I may not be destroying the computer on all-star, however, I'm still winning at this rate at least 90% of my games on all-star default. Don't get me wrong it isn't that I am striking out a great deal every game.

it is just the balls I am making contact with or are choosing to swing at rather just like in real life aren't being beneficial to my offensive output at this time. which is 100% on me and only me.

overall it is a good experience. Much easier than I expected it to be. i mean that least time i remember playing on default AS i got slaughtered

If you feel that pitching is still too easy you could always bump up pitching to Hall of Fame and leave hitting at All-Star and see what happens.

But if you're having fun where you are, then there is absolutely no reason to change anything

yeah, the thought had crossed my mind and I might give it a try for the upcoming series against the Angels. See how it goes.

ok actually confused. no lie... went into a gameplay overall game setting in the menus adjusted the difficulty to AS/AS. then upped it to HOF in pitching... started playing this game against the angels. pitching was still seemingly easy as hell. went it to in-game settings and I've still been playing on VET/VET... I really have no clue how the inside game setting didn't change when I changed it in the gameplay settings.

so CB... after this game is over... scratch all the previous posts... they were not really on AS/AS. will not be posting this game due to it not being a real result...
