I really have no clue how the inside game setting didn't change when I changed it in the gameplay settings.

so CB... after this game is over... scratch all the previous posts... they were not really on AS/AS. will not be posting this game due to it not being a real result...
You probably changed a different profile in the menus than the one you're using in-game. Just to cover all the bases (no pun intended), let me explain how to make sure you're using the right one - you'll only have to do this once, not every game or anything. I hope this doesn't come across as condescending, because I like to be thorough when I'm explaining stuff - you might already be aware of it anyway.

Choose the game you want to play on the calendar and advance to the team select screen where both teams' large logos are displayed. You should see a profile name beneath your controller. Make a note of that, because that is the profile that is associated with your Franchise team (you can change this to any profile from the options, but that goes further than I want to explain here).

Now back out to the main franchise menu and go to options, and then user settings (ignore what it says on "Current Default" for now). Once you enter user settings, cycle through your profiles with L1/R1 until you find the one that showed up beneath your controller on team select - that is the profile that is being used when you play franchise games with that team. If the settings under that profile are not what you expected, change them to what you want and then back out of options, making sure to select Apply Changes.

Go back to team select and the profile you had seen before should still be there. Go ahead and select that profile and team, and play your game. Once you're in the game, you can pause and make sure the options are what you want them to be.

That's a lot of explanation for a pretty short process, but again, I like to be thorough and this does seem to trip up a lot of people (it's an especially common topic around new release time). I hope that helps.

Thanks, man, everything matches up now. in the game is AS/HOF. So we will NOW indeed see how bad I get my *** handed to me... well the first now that I have everything lined out... let me actually go AS/AS for a week or so of games and see how I do... here goes nothing...

        Count 'em up:

TEN HR's between the two teams on default Legend. Wind blowing straight out 12 MPH at Wrigley, so I actually consider that totally believable (it's been done before IRL, 11 is the stadium record). As long as it's not being done consistently, of course. I was never in this game from the start, always chasing, but it was still fun to watch it play out.

The franchise is a fantasy draft where I skipped the 2018 season to fix the MLB teams having too few bench players. CPU has full control of the front office and off-field management - I'm only controlling the players on the field and the manager's in-game decisions. I don't really plan on updating much, but if interesting stuff like this happens I'll probably drop in here.

Oh, and don't worry about me not walking in this game - I actually recorded an entire inning from another game where Tyson Ross walked the bases loaded AND walked in a run with the same settings. He walked 5 total in the game, and his team combined for a total of 8. So, no balance problems there, just some really extreme results from game to game. That's baseball.

Well after just one game I can see that my almost nonexistant strikeouts (offensively) are going to go through the roof. Which is a huge reason why I couldn't get anything going against the CPU.

I had a scat few two-out rally opportunities but just couldn't come through in any of them. even the ninth. two on, and blink blame boom it was over.
Have to admit, not too long ago a game like this would have had me rage quitting over and over again.

thanks to being able to sell cards and stuff in this game. I have already collected $62.92M into my team bank. So if any of you reading this are still buying cards thank you very much.

I will probably hate myself for saying this but I will keep this going through the homestand which is this three-game series with the Angels, and a four-game series with the Rangers.

Let's see how fast I can lose my ever so slim 4.0 game lead on the second place Rangers

oh, pitching using meter pitching is just a little less precise than it was before. even when you do a perfect meter top and bottom you don't always throw it where you intended, even without sliders involved. oh well.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

The 2020 White Sox enter June at 38-23 with 1.5 game lead in the AL Central over Minnesota with Cleveland 4.5 back, Royals 7.0 games out, and Detroit 10.5 games out

Offensively most of the team has struggled lately with more than half the lineup on a cold streak.. Still hold the 10th best batting average as a team, 5th in Runs and tied for 5th in homers.

Pitching has won them games as of late coming into June with the 4th best team in ERA. Tied for 9th in Runs allowed and 11th in homers allowed.

Been keeping an eye on some prospects, especially on 3B prospect Jeremy Ramirez tearing up AAA pitching hitting .349 through the first 2 months of the season. Not sure when the Sox will make the call up but if and when they do, it would allow the Sox to move Kyle Seager to DH and put Jorge Soler on the bench as he has struggled all year only batting .210 with 8 homers.

Also keeping an eye on SP Omar Salgado in AA who is dominating AA hitters with a 6-1 record with a 1.78 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 55 K's in 70.2 innings.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just finished off an intense 3 game set against Boston in my Yankees franchise. Only played that one series since I last posted here because I ended up taking a break from the game again. Wanted to post anyway because of the epic final game of the series, the best I’ve had in a while.

Recap of game 1 and 2:

                Game 1 Kershaw Vs Price
Kershaw dominated holding Boston to 1 run through 7. Price would leave after 6, surrendering a 3 run outburst in the 5th. Robertson and Chapman would enter and slam the door. Yankees win 3-1.

Game 2 Gray Vs Jalen Beeks
To say neither starter had it that day is an understatement, both starters were quickly shelled and forced from the game by the time the final out was recorded in the third. 8-8 game headed to the 4th. Barraclough and Holder combined for 4.2 scoreless innings. After 3 runs scored by the Yankees, the Sox broke through with a 2 run 7th off of Siegrist, cutting the Yankees lead down to 1.

Kahnle got the final out in the 7th and 2 outs in the 8th before being replaced by Robertson. Robertson would finish the 8th and, to the surprise of some, stuck around for the 9th as Mattingly decided to stick with Robertson rather then turn to Chapman. Robertson mowed down the heart of the Red Sox lineup to record the save. Yankees win 11-10.

Now, onto to the 11 inning thriller.
                Wacha vs Porcello.
Fast forward to the 6th. 2-1 Red Sox. Judge blasted a 408 foot solo shot over the monster to tie it up 2-2. After a scoreless bottom of the 6th from Wacha, New York took the lead off a Sanchez solo shot making it a 3-2 game. After the Sanchez HR the Sox pulled Porcello. Betances entered the game in the 7th. He ended up working himself into a bases loaded jam with 2 outs before being replaced by Robertson. Robertson couldn’t bail the Yankees out as Devers knocked a pitch back up the middle into CF driving in 2 runs. JBJ then grounded out to end the inning. 4-3 Red Sox.

In the 8th the Yankees looked to be on the verge of a comeback as they loaded the bases with one out. Carson Smith pulled off a miracle escape by striking out Arenado with a low changeup and then getting Sanchez to ground out. Holder tossed a scoreless bottom half sending it the 9th.

Matt Barnes entered the game to attempt to slam the door. For some reason they moved Kimbrel out of the closer spot for Barnes cause CPU logic. Jose Abreu lead off the inning hitting the ball into RF. Betts dove for the ball and missed turning a single into a double. Chris Taylor came in to pinch run. Didi bunts it towards Devers at 3B attempting to advance the runner, Devers fires it to 1B and sends it flying past Conrad Gregor! Taylor rounds 3B and heads home tying the game 4-4!
Chapman enters the game and sets down the trio of Bogaerts, Benintendi, and JDM to send it to extra innings.

In the 10th the Yankees got runners on first and second with 2 outs as Boston pulls Barnes and sends in Kimbrel to escape the inning. He does just that as he gets Andujar to line out to RF. Chapman strikes out Betts and Devers and then gets JBJ to ground out to end the inning.

Didi lead off the 11th with a single up the middle. Torres followed it up by bunting Didi over to second putting the go ahead run in scoring position with 1 out. Eaton hit a grounder towards first but is safe at the bag advancing Didi to third. Kimbrel would respond by striking out Harper, bringing Judge to the plate with 2 outs and runners on the corners. JUDGE GROUNDS IT INTO LF! Didi scores! Yankees take the lead 5-4!

In the bottom half the Red Sox still had some fight left as they faced off again against a tiring Chapman beginning his third inning of work. After a Swihart popout to Sanchez and a Gregor fly out, 2B Josh Tobias (starting in place of the injured Nunez) drillled a double bringing lead off man Xander Bogaerts to the plate with a chance to tie it. Chapman strikes him out with a low and away changeup! Yankees win 5-4!

Now both teams will have a much needed day off to rest up. The Yankees now head home to face the Angels and Blue Jays. Meanwhile, the Red Sox await the arrival of the Mets for a quick 2 game set which will be no easy task as they will be facing both DeGrom and Syndergaard. Both pitchers ERA’s are under 1.90. Kinda feel bad for them, that’s about as unlucky as you can get.

Do you guys feel like default sliders are the way to go? I’ve been away from the show for a couple months but want to get hyped for the new season.

Will probs go back to franchise but I’m not sure whether to continue with the Cubbies or switch it up just till 19 drops. Was thinking of running a Braves chise as they really have a fun roster

I play on default (aside from pitch speed sliders) as I hate messing with sliders. My opinion is that once you start adjusting sliders, you'll never stop because you're trying to adjust the game to play a certain way instead of letting it be "genuine".

With that said though, there are several OS'ers that create sliders that are enjoyed by the community.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I always use default sliders in The Show, never felt the need to change sliders around with this game, I like how it plays without slider adjustments. Glad I have never had to use sliders unlike with Madden, where sliders are basically a requirement to get good and realistic gameplay. It’s easier to just be able to choose your difficulty and roll with default sliders.

The need for a good slider set and adjustments almost every patch is one of the things that drives me away from Madden.

                                Team Highlights

J.D. Davis has been my best player on my team .246 AVG, 25 HR, 58 RBI

Bubba Starling started in RF to begin the season, but now he is all over the field and is my 4th OF. Doesn't have much power 5 HR and 22 RBI but he does get on base for me when needed

Kohl Stewart started off 5-0 and had under 1.00 ERA but once game 6 hit he went on a 4 game losing streak. Right now he is 6-4 with a 3.81 ERA

My best relief pitchers have been Donnie Hart and Tanner Scott. Both are almost unhittable. My plan is to turn Tanner Scott into an Andrew Miller type.

I've played ever game but with quick counts running as I don't have time to play full games. I can get 3 games in QC in same time has 1 full game.

Orioles: 37-73 no hopes at all for this season. But I knew that and I'm building for my 2019 season.
