Doing 30 team control and at the signing players to renewable contracts.

Lord that takes a while. Put that stuff on Auto for CPU to play with but they still release a lot of prospects.

So signed everyone last night for 2 hours!

Quick update on our 2020 Phillies.

      4/13 @ BAL: 11-2 W. Nola gets the win (4-0) with 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 12 K. Cotton gets the loss (0-3) after giving up 10 R (7 ER) on 7 H in 0.2 IP.

      4/14 @ BAL: 2-1 W. James Paxton earns a win (4-0) with 7 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 12 K. Alex Cobb takes the loss (1-1) after allowing 2 R in 6 IP.

The series did not come without hardship for Philadelphia, though, losing two stars to the DL. Rhys Hoskins hit the DL with a pulled hamstring that will shelve him for 1-2 weeks (10-day DL). (2B) Chris Coghlan was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to replace him. Mitch Walding is expected to take over at 1B while he is out of action Then it got worse in game two, with Cesar Hernandez tearing his MCL on a successful steal of second base - an injury that ends his season. This is a devastating blow, as Cesar was clubbing his way to an impressive .339 average early in this season. Scott Kingery will get a big chance now, taking over full-time at 2B in his stead, and hoping to maybe earn his way to something more permanent. (CF) Roman Quinn has been recalled from Lehigh Valley to take the open roster spot.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

2 more series down, Yankees are now 35-8. Lost 2 out of 3 to Toronto.

Game 1: Blue Jays Win 14-8. The Yankees led 6-5 headed into the 7th where the bullpen had a meltdown which resulted in a huge 9 run inning for the Jays. Betances gave up 2, Robertson got torched for 5, and Holder gave up 2. Crushing way to blow the game. Barraclough surrendered 2 runs in the 6th. He was sent to Scranton after the game and Sean Gilmartin was promoted.

Game 2: Yankees win 6-2. Gilmartin gave up a 3 hits, a walk, and a run in the 8th. He was demoted for Joe Ross after the game.

Game 3: Blue Jays Win 2-1. Rushed Kershaw back on short rest to face Stroman and try to win the series. Felt it was more valuable to pitch him there then against Miami. He got the job done even though he didn’t last long holding the Jays to 1 run through 5 innings. Toronto scored 1 off Kahnle in the 6th but rest of the pen did it’s job as Holder, Betances, and Robertson combined to shut them out the rest of the way. Unfortunately the bats didn’t do their part.

Some missed opportunities and bad luck. Hit into a couple double plays. 3 barely missed HR’s where the ball just didn’t make it over the wall and ended up caught. 1 from Judge, 1 from Sanchez, and a really heartbreaking one off the bat of Abreu to opposite field with a runner on and 2 outs in the ninth. Would’ve been a walk off. Really should’ve won that game.

After a day off we traveled to South Beach to face the Marlins for 2 games.

Game 1: Yankees win 6-4. Most exciting moment was the second inning. With 2 outs and 2 runners on our SP Eduardo Rodriguez hits a 3 run HR to put us up 3-2! Miami would get one more off E-Rod and a solo shot off Betances in the 8th. A 2 run blast from Arenado in the 6th followed by a Harper solo shot in the 7th was enough to win the game.

Game 2: Yankees win 3-2 to complete the 2 game sweep.

Now it’s back home to face the Astros in a 4 game set. There pitchers: Henderson Alvarez, Lance Lynn, Francis Martes, Lance McCullers Jr (4.21 ERA). All pretty winnable games if their offense can be contained, which is a pretty big if. Luckily there’s another day off after that. Starters need to provide more length. Got less then 6 innings from our starters 5 out of the last 6 games.

For anyone interested....Game 2 of the NLDS being streamed.

NOTE: As before I'll be x'ing thru as my game time is limited tonight. Also any long pauses I apologize for in advance. I now take care of my Dad who isn't in the best of health these days.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just finished 2018 sim season (everything is on Auto) - Boston just came back down 0-3 in the WS against the Nationals, winning game 7 in Washington trailing 5-0 headed into the 9th inning.

            Game 1: BOS 4 - WSH 6
            Game 2: BOS 1 - WSH 2 (Scherzer pitched a 1 hitter)
            Game 3: WSH 4 - BOS 0
            Game 4: WSH 1 - BOS 2
Game 5: WSH 0 - BOS 4 (Sale pitched a complete game 3 hit shutout)
            Game 6: BOS 3 - WSH 2
Game 7: BOS 6 - WSH 5 (Boston scored 6 in the top of the 9th)

The Nationals blow a 3-0 lead in the World Series; Bryce has to be gone, right?

            Awards:

World Series MVP: Jackie Bradley JR
            AL Postseason MVP: J.D. Martinez
            NL Postseason MVP: Bryce Harper
            NL MVP: Max Scherzer 23-3, 2.75 ERA, 272 K, 235.2 IP, 1.03 WHIP
AL MVP: George Springer .319 AVG, 47 HR, 137 RBI
            NL CY Young: Max Scherzer 23-3, 2.75 ERA, 272 K, 235.2 IP, 1.03 WHIP
            AL CY Young: Gerrit Cole 20-5, 2.59 ERA, 249 K, 229.1 IP, 0.98 WHIP
NL Hank Aaron Award: Rhys Hoskins .308 AVG, 48 HR, 120 RBI
AL Hank Aaron Award: Aaron Judge .335 AVG, 50 HR, 123 RBI
            NL ROTY: Joey Lucchesi 9-6, 3.65 ERA, 202 K
            AL ROTY: Shohei Ohtani 14-6, 3.08 ERA, 224 K

How did Judge not win the MVP by the way? Only player with 50 homeruns, won the batting title as well. Probably has to do with the small market he plays in and minimum exposure he gets...

Might as well do my Yankees all 162 season recap as well - this one will be a little longer (postseason and offseason recaps smashed into one). I've been kicking the tires on shooting over to the Dynasty thread for the 2019 season, but I'm not sure if I'm ready yet

After sitting at 44-46 at the ASB and plagued with injuries; we made some changes to the roster, and went 41-31 in the second half of the season to squeeze into the playoffs at 85-77. An 8-0 win over Oakland put us in the ALDS where the winningest team in baseball, the Boston Red Sox, humbled us, ending our season in a 12-2 buttwhooping in which Tanaka lasted a measly 2.2 innings before getting the hook. Houston would go on to defeat the Colorado Rockies in the World Series, 4 games to 3. Houston 1B Tyler White was the WS MVP. He hit .409 with 2 HR (both walkoffs) and 4 RBI. During the regular season he had a .236/.319/.349 triple slash, with 9 HR and 30 RBI in 108 games. Gurriel tore his MCL in May, and Houston just kinda said F*** it, lets give this guy a shot I guess.

Cardinals take commanding 2-0 series lead on the Dodgers after winning Game 2 of the NLDS 2-1. I would like to apologize to Jason Castro who took a fastball off the back as I was frustrated with Eric Summersgil's strike zone. I was going to intentionally walk Castro at that point, but decided to plunk him out of frustration.

Game 3 will be in Busch as Max Scherzer will take the mound for St Louis vs Matt Harvey for the Dodgers.

One issue I noticed I have is trading or letting players go that I’m a fan of in real life. Makes my Dodgers franchises hard on me.

They do have Matt Harvey going in Game 3. He has absolutely dominated us the 2 times we faced him this year.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

I love Griffith Stadium. So glad I "built the Marlins a new park" three years ago in 2027.

                        Anyway...

May has begun and the Marlins are maybe hitting their stride after an up-and-down start out of the gate.

Some of the highlights so far:

                        • Stan Brito is on a 37-game hitting streak. He extended it with a 2-for-4 performance, picking up a single and a triple. He's batting .392 at present with 9 HR.
                          .
                        • Damian Boeve is 4-0 with a "high" 2.89 ERA. His FIP is 2.42 and his WHIP is back under 1.00, both positive signs for a positive "return to form" for the former ace.
                          .
                        • After toiling on the bench behind Arturo Gonzalez, RF Ronald Calderon is off to a good start, batting .345, as he tastes full time action for the first time in three years when the Indians cut him loose in the 2028 offseason.
                          .
                        • The Marlins are 18-11, tied for first with the Phillies in what's been a hotly contested NL East in the early going. The team is 1 1/2 games ahead of fourth place.

                        And for the lowlights:

                        • Demarcus DeCosta is going into a death spiral. His batting average is in danger of dropping under .170 as he just can't get anything at the plate. So far, the Marlins have been patient with the young second baseman, but with other prospects maybe ready, the leash is getting shorter...
                          .
                        • Hideki Shinjo at shortstop isn't doing much better, batting .213. One saving grace for Shinjo is that he's drawing a lot of walks, being a patient #8 hitter. He has 19 hits and 17 walks so far, leading to a .365 OBP. The other saving grace is his exceptional defense at the position. He's saved runs both with his fielding grounders and slick turns on double plays.
                          .
                        • Third-year starting pitcher Jason Engle continues moving in the wrong direction. After an exciting rookie campaign, the league might be figuring out his screwball (and his command of it hasn't improved, which is probably getting noticed by scouts) and his two-seamer can be hittable. He's coming out of the gate with a 5.30 ERA after his first good outing of the young season. Again, the Marlins want to be patient...

                        On the farm:

                        • SP Eddie Cordova continues to surprise with his one-pitch arsenal. While he, technically, is considered to have three pitches, they are all a type of fastball: the four-seamer, sinker, and cutter. The 23-year-old has worked his way to AAA-New Orleans where he's 2-1 with a 2.20 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP so far.
                          .
                        • Meanwhile, fallen prospect SP Ricky Paris, now 27, continues to flounder. Despite high grades from scouts, Paris continues to look lost on the mound. He's had 2 short starts, leading to just 8 innings and a 5.19 ERA/1.52 WHIP. The Marlins might shop him around, though it's hard to see any worthwhile compensation coming back. Of course, Paris struggling in AAA isn't doing a lot either.
                          .
                        • The prospect most likely to push DaCosta aside isn't top prospect Joel Shafer. He continues to struggle at the plate in AAA. Instead, it's 22-year-old infielder Rickey Gilbert. He has the most refined defense as well. The knock on Gilbert is he's horrible against lefty pitching despite being a switch hitter. That alone may not stop his ascension for long...
                          .
                        • A pair of top outfield prospects continue their work. Oliver Day, a fearsome slugger in the making, and Alex Sanchez, a "pure hitter" with arm issues are both trying to continue their climb. Sanchez is in AAA, carried by a well-rounded bat, while Day has relied on his very aggressive swing to put up offense at AA-Jacksonville. Day might have the inside track despite being a level lower currently, but he'll have to prove he can hit, not just hit home runs.

The 2021 White Sox break camp with Top Prospect SP Omar Salgado on the team as the 5th starter. He was dominate in Spring Training, posting a 0.96 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP in 18.2 innings. Salgado wasn't expected to be an option after only having half a season of experience at the AAA level but the 23 year old impressed the Manager Steven Travis enough to get the spot, especially when Reynaldo Lopez and Hector Santiago the other two options for the 5th spot had struggled. Lopez was sent to AAA and Santiago will be the long man out of the pen.

20 Year old SP Prospect Kevin DiBiase also impressed in Spring with a 1.23 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 14.2 innings. He will start the season in AAA Charlotte.

Watching the stream of your previous game, as somebody who plays with the strike zone on you've tempted me to start playing with it off. Looks like a nice challenge.

Game 3 of the NLDS did not go as planned as Dodgers win 5-4 to force a Game 4. Jose De Leon will toe the rubber for the Dodgers against Mike Leake.

The Cubs beat the Marlins to sweep their NLDS series. The Marlins will not be repeating as World Series Champions. The Cubs await the winner of the Dodgers/Cardinals series.

Rays and A's are tied at 1-1 in their ALDS series. Same for the Twins and Blue Jays, tied 1-1.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Heading into June 2018 my Dodgers sit at 37-19, with a 5 game lead over the Rockies in the west.

                                Rotation:
                                Kershaw 3.86 ERA, 5-4
                                Buehler 2.72 ERA, 6-3
                                Hill 2.74 ERA, 6-2
                                Stripling 4.63, 1-3
                                Ryu 1.59 ERA, 5-2

                                Notable Relievers:
                                Floro 2.70 ERA, 5-1
                                Jansen 0.39 ERA, 21 Saves

                                Team Leaders

                                Avg: Muncy, .333
                                HRs: Muncy, 13
                                RBI: Muncy, 35

We are doing just enough to stay on top but I’m concerned if Kershaw and Stripling don’t start pitching better I won’t stay there for long.
