Pitch speed increase is real. Can see that in practice mode. Time for my RTTS average to drop a bit more...

I felt the pitch speed in '16 was great.

This game has been out for years and there are still things wrong that were wrong in 14-15, they dont listen to our constructive advice, you know their customers who are actual subject matter experts on baseball. PYS 2012 had better pitching motions than we do in 18 for the show. They dont need to be coddled any longer. They need to get the game right, if you cant do it in 4-5 years then its time to get some new blood that can.

Need more time because it's really early, but yeah it does feel more like '16 in terms of speed.

I'm still hitting some monster shots with Bryant in BP when I time one up though, so I don't think the physics are suffering like what happened with '16 when they changed things. Like I said, really early, though.

Pitch speed 10 used to feel like 8 from last year. Needless to say, I'm getting blown away by high 90's after the patch. Time to hit the cages and get the timing back.

Anyone know if they fixed the faceguard issue where it can't be applied to anyone wearing a helmet other than protective?

Looking at a CAP with BASIC grayed out, so is CHIN GUARD.

Pitch speed is deff up again. Hit variety and physics still look good so far in a limited sample size. However, im hoping future patches will leave the core gameplay alone. There were too many changes last year with each patch which made hitting any kind of stride in franchise a challenge.

Definitely good to hear!

I have not dived into the series since '16, and even then it was only sporadic (nothing like the PS3 days).

I did find the pitch speed slow, where I was getting hits and making contact (too) easily out of the box the other day. Looking forward to feeling the change when I get home later. I am hooked all over again with this series! The fielding is just so smooth/good this year!

I'm apprehensive about this change as well. I've had great success running balls down in the outfield and the few I've missed felt deserved. It's also been nice seeing first basemen not catching everything hit over their heads into short right or off into foul territory.

I dont let it download any patches or updates until I'm ready. Especially after I find a slider set that I like. I hate auto updates. On all devices. My MLB at Bat app on my new phone crashes every time I even try to watch MLB Network, because it's the latest version. And just in time for opening day 👏. Fortunately I have an old junky phone with the MLB app that I haven't allowed an update in years and it works perfectly. But I digress...

Its early enough, however, and pitch speed is a necessary fix, so unless I see something in the posts by this evening after the Ranger game, I will be getting this patch tonight. (I probably will get every patch until the OSFM roster -hopefully- comes out.)

As a long time user of the red headed stepchild mode - manage mode - which last year was poor due to not enough offense I'm always paranoid these patches will placate others and mess up manage mode.



This year they finally got gameplay right with the most realistic game ever and the biggest part of that was adding offense by ending superman fielders.



"Fielding animation adjustments to the user controlled fielder to catch more balls just outside of the ball marker."



Not sure I want to download this patch because it looks like a move in the direction of last year's overpowered defense.

It’s an issue with user controlled fielders. Unlikely to affect MOM.

Not sure I want to download this patch because it looks like a move in the direction of last year's overpowered defense.

I believe this is to fix an issue with human controlled fielders not fielding the ball or making an attempt. Lots of videos out there.

For those testing, are you playing All Star or HOF. Pre patch, all Star was too easy and HOF was too hard for me.

Keep in mind, there’s also a 1.06 patch yet to be released that’s going to fix even more issues. One of the guys from SDS chimed in on a thread (forgot which one), and said there’s more stuff to be fixed.
