Re: Commentary repetition
They seriously need to increase the total amount of audio clips. I'm talking like 10 times as much audio or more.Comment

I'm tellin' ya, they gotta go the "Madlibs" approach of stitching in frames of sentences just like they do with player and team names.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
I lasted about three games with the commentary. “Okay, I’ve heard enough.”
I do pop it back on here and there, maybe once every eighth game or so, but that’s just to switch things up. For me it’s less about it being repetitive and more that I just don’t think it sounds any good. Take FIFA for contrast: that commentary sucks by all accounts, and is way more repetitive than this game, but it sounds fantastic so it doesn’t bother me at all. Or MLB 2K7 if you remember that commentary, same thing, where I’m sure it was every bit as repetitive as this game if not more so, but it sounded amazing so it didn’t matter.

You could have a perfect game and people would still complain. I’m not saying the game is perfect but welcome to Internet forums.

Re: Commentary repetition
You know, the more I play without commentary, the more I like it. It felt really weird at first, but now it just feels immersive, like I'm on the field.
Besides, the game is way better without Pleasac yakking in my ear telling me he didn't understand what I was waiting for on that strike when the strike was literally right on the corner, and the commentary in my head is way more dynamic and interesting anyways.
I think that's a big thing, if I don't hear Dan McLaughlin or Mike Shannon or the great, great John Rooney, it's not immersive to me anyway because I listen to commentary for the Cardinals all the time. Heck, with MLB TV I now listen to everyone else's commentators as well.
I heard Reynolds say the same thing 3 games in a row (the first 3 of my franchise) for the lineup breakdown, and I knew I had to do something. Turned it off, included Sounds of The Show, and it's like I'm there. If anyone is going to go no commentary, please visit the sounds of the show thread and set that up. My goodness, it is fantastic.
Listened to 3 games of commentary this year, heard the same things in a row, and promptly turned it off, not because they don't do a great job with commentary (they do), it's just that for me, no commentary gets me immersed so much more.

Re: Commentary repetition
I was more trying to offer a solution to a problem that plagues most sports games.
I think if there was just a way to prevent certain lines of dialogue from running in back to back to back to back games it would go a long way towards improving it. For example, the player to look out for at the beginning. Today it's going to be Brian Dozier and his immaculate hair. That's fine. But since that ran, tick a box that says it's not available for 6 games in the commentary engine. Now we've run out of players with specific audio? Ok, have a few lines that talk about generic aspects. "This lineup is really struggling to hit as a team the last week, hitting just over .200 collectively. They're going to need a couple players to step up today if they want to get the bats going"
I'm sure there's plenty there to play with, I just don't wan't to hear the same "story line" or player to watch for in every game of my franchise.Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
The ironic thing in all this is that the more commentary they add the more it seems repetitive due to the uniqueness of the commentary. Nobody notices how many times you hear “three balls two strikes” because it’s a necessity. However when describing “the unique stylings of Hunter Pence...” it really gets old. They call me Mr. Thread CoolerComment

Eric hosmer is the guy everyone in the club house gravitates to.
Insert any hit streak number. He's also doing it with pop, not just seeing eye singles
