Two man booth, less said, a little more quiet and just talk of what's going on on the field, batting averages "he's 2 for 4 today with a homer in the 3rd", stop trying with the repetitive story lines. I give the booth every chance, every year and every year I turn them off (love listening to the crowd, which most times is muddled by the commentary). Game play is superb. Announcing is the biggest flaw of this game. "grab some pine, meat" (or something like that, groan). Just my opinion.

Re: Commentary repetition
always thought they should dump all color guys and just go with basic play by play and throw in some history like previous poster said. There is no way to effectively do a 2 or 3 man booth over the course of a season without tons of repetition...never mind over the course of multiple seasons/franchises.
They will never do it, but it makes the most sense to derail repetition and keep you more deeply immersed with facts and stats.Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
I'd like to see MLB 19 The Show come out on 2 different discs. Have one as a franchise edition where offline and online can be played. Make the other a Diamond Dynasty / Road to The Show edition. This would free up space where all kinds of diverse commentary could be added along with other goodies that have to be left off now due to limited space. To cover costs, Sony could sell the editions for $39.99 each or a 2 pack bundle for $59.99. I'm 100% an offline franchise guy who never plays DD or RTTS.Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
One thing I like this year is how commentators will describe players based on attributes e.g. x pitcher is really known for having electric stuff, gets a lot of strikeouts etc.
This is the direction commentary should go. This is dynamic, and easy enough to implement.
However, I hear the following every single game:
-x player's contract is running out this season
-x player was drafted in y round, "they really got it right with this pick" / "it is so hard to grind out a career when drafted in the late rounds like he was"
-Aaron Judge's story/the spotlight of the Judge's Chambers (cool the first time, but I'm ready to pull my hair out)Comment

Another I kept hearing when playing the Indians was "Here comes All World, All-Star shortstop, Francisco Lindor"Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
SCEA has caught the same disease as all the networks. They feel they have to fill every second of air time with useless blather. I used to turn the color commentators off and just listen to play-by-play. Can't do that any more so I just turn them all off when I play.Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
The thing I dislike about the commentary, especially as a RttS only player, is that it is spoken a lot in generalities. "He's hitting above .300" when the hitter is hitting .321. "He's got over 15 RBIs this month" "He's slugging over .500 for his career". After years of listening to the same lines said in different ways, a lot of it is white noise to me. I don't know how else to explain it.est 1978

Audio takes up a HUGE portion of the game already - it only bloats more if you start adding super-specific things like that.

Re: Commentary repetition
Personally, this doesn't bother me all that much because usually when Matt's saying those general lines, the actual number is being displayed on screen. So I really don't feel like there needs to be 200 different recorded lines to cover every inch of the .200 - .400 batting average spectrum (because that's basically what you're asking for) to tell me something I can already see on the screen. And that's just one stat - the range they'd have to cover for slugging or ESPECIALLY ERA is even larger.

Re: Commentary repetition
I'm glad someone mentioned this bolded statement. So a question I have is that since Audio does eat up alot of game space, do they have a different file for players whose names are "Torrez" and "Torres" even though they are pronounced the same? Same with Jon and John, etc? I hope they are using the same audio for the different iterations, but curious if anyone knows.Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
The only repeat the really bothers me is hearing Derosa (I'm pretty sure it's Derosa) refer to the Mets batting order as the Mats betting order nearly every gameComment

Re: Commentary repetition
I'm already tired of DeRosa and do miss Harold Reynolds now. I don't like DeRosa's delivery and his lines are just repeated way too much. I heard him say the same exact thing on the defensive placement screen for both teams in the same game. Ambush tactics needs to die a quick death. The whole "DeRo" thing is very annoying too. Dan never calls him Mark.

It'd just be nice if Matty V didn't say "Up comes the multidimensional Lewis Brinson" every. single. at bat. It's bad enough playing as the Marlins.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment
