Re: Commentary repetition
Sorry if mentioned already - but just ran into the "Everyone pays attention to his hitting streak but many forget he's slugging .500" or something like that.
Constantly.
Every batter. Sometimes every pitch in a PA.
Reported it as a bug."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
MLBN commentary is on and prominent and Theme 1 I have it at 50% volume. Theme 2 it is off and all you hear is the crowd, stadium sounds, umps, vendors etc.
Nice variety that way.
But yeah....it is quite repetitive here early on in my franchise (29 games in) but I am hearing dynamic storylines and such and the deeper I go in the season I am sure more and more new lines will unlock. So that is a huge positive.
I can’t truly judge it till I complete year 2 in my 2017 carry over Yankees Franchise. I am playing every pitch. Then I can give it an objective review.
Sent from my SM-G935U using Operation Sports mobile app"The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws."

Re: Commentary repetition
Glad I don't play with the Cubs because if I did I would have to demote Ian Happ from the 25 man MLB roster because I am tired of hearing that he is a Pittsburgh native. I mean really ... saying it once or twice is fine. But saying it every time the guy comes to the plate or fields the ball makes me want to jump off of a bridge.
We have ourselves a prophet here.Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
The thing I dislike about the commentary, especially as a RttS only player, is that it is spoken a lot in generalities. "He's hitting above .300" when the hitter is hitting .321. "He's got over 15 RBIs this month" "He's slugging over .500 for his career". After years of listening to the same lines said in different ways, a lot of it is white noise to me. I don't know how else to explain it.
I know hey? and they are boring mainstream stats/ for once I wanna hear him go on about OBP. or Say his War is the best in the game. or talk about Whip. I am sick of them talking about RBIS AVG and ERA as being all the only important things.. then again DD is mainstream so that is the biggest focus.Comment

Part of the problem currently is also that Plesac and DeRosa are old school stats kinda guys. They’re former players and most former players tend to lean towards older stats. So trying to get them to talk more about advanced analytics would probably sound a lot more like script reading. Less natural than what they say now. My dream would be combining 2K with Madden style commentary lol. Multiple broadcast crews like 2K, with weekly/monthly commentary updates like Madden. That would be glorious. I know it’s totally impossible though.Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
This may be the year that I just turn off commentary and play music or provide commentary in my head. So far, almost all the lines I have heard, are the exact same from 18. Playing with the Braves, and not hearing one mention of Acuna's rookie season is just baffling to me.
I'd be really interested in knowing the number of lines added for matt, dan, and mark. Because if that was completely untouched, its inexcusable.Comment

Re: Commentary repetition
FYI, there were 200+ hours in the studio recording new commentary this year. It then takes an average of 1 man-day per hour of recording to get it game-ready, script-reviewed and delivered.Comment
