guaranteed they won't even think about "dabbing" again. So yes, it would be the solution. Hey, they can duck. Goose Gossage for commissioner
No. That doesn't do anything but prove the character of the man throwing a 90+ mile an hour projectile at an innocent person.
Good thing this rarely happens any more as the game and its audience has evolved and showing emotion is actually considered to be a good thing for the most part.
Frequency of new animations tend to be tricky on implementation in sports games I notice. Some here seem to notice more of this 'dabbing' animation as too frequent or done at inappropriate times, others don't really notice it much at all. It will always be the case as we all know they are not going to please everybody.
I remember a few years ago in Madden, they implemented more cut scenes of the coaches on the sidelines, reacting to the plays. Well, in my mind, they over did it...after every play they were showing sideline views after every play, and frequently the coach's reaction was inappropriate to the play that just happened. Also players would frequently be shown celebrating a run when they were just stopped short of the mark on third down and the punting team is coming on the field.
Contrast this with Fifa game where they introduced the goal decision system
a few years ago. In real life, you DON'T see this system called on often. In fact this PL season I think I've seen it twice in all the broadcasts. AND I thought EA got it right, as it wasn't happening often in the video game at all. Of course, there were a number of people on the boards chiming in that it either didn't exist in the video game as they hadn't seen it after playing 5-10 games, or that it wasn't used often enough. Can't please everyone.
BTW I had no idea what 'dabbing' was either so I'm glad someone asked. I would have asked myself but I had already asked on the Madden boards what "skynet' was in the game, and I think it is against the TOS to confirm you are an old fart in multiple threads.
you mean in the Show?
I dont think I have seen an actual dab, it looks more like their trying to spell out part of "YMCA".
Yeah, I can't figure out what they're doing lol. I've seen something that looks like the "Y" some weird over the head, two hand double pointing. They're just absolutely random mini - celebrations.
Some of you need to watch actual baseball. The players on most teams each do a small signal or celebration for just about every hit, unless the situation is out of hand and they are trailing in score heavily.
These actions tend to change every season, or half season, but SCEA asked users what celebrations their teams' players were doing, with video, and they mo-capped a lot of them from last season.
It is pretty spot on, except for some of them being outdated. For instance, the Pirates now do a steering wheel motion when reaching base via a hit, and that is not in the game. They do it about 80% of the time in real life. It is not over the top, it is subtle enough to not enrage the opposing team by showing them up, but noticeable enough for all to see in the park and on a broadcast.
The Show has long struggled to encapsulate some of the emotion of baseball and this is a huge step in the right direction, in that regard. They need to fine tune some of it so that it occurs in more acceptable and realistic instances, but it is mostly a welcomed addition.
Just because some of you don't know what they are doing, or disagree with the "showboating" aspect of it, doesn't mean that it isn't pretty true-to-life.
And remember, the good ol' days weren't always good, and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems.

How much baseball do YOU watch?? I have the MLBTV package and can safely say I watch more than the average fan. Sorry dude...there ARE some "spot on" celebrations and I can give video examples (love subtle finger point and subtle fist pump).... and there are some that I've rarely or never seen a player do that I wish were not even in the game. I think it was Caulfield in a post earlier that hit the nail on the head with the YMCA reference....it literally looks like you are trying out for a Village People video. In RTTS mode.... your created player literally does something every hit. THAT is overkill. If you're a 200 hit player, year in and year out, you aren't celebrating everytime you reach base. It's annoying. So it becomes the Xbutton spam for me. The celebrations/emotion should be optional to equip. Just my opinion. Maybe it is a step in the right direction and I'm all for the emotion but it certainly needs some more tweaking. I actually crack up at the contradictions around the whole subject. It's OK to put bat flips and hysterical, disrespectful HR celebrations in the game. It's OK for commentators make reference to bean balls with "it's the old you hit one of mine and I'll hit one of yours".... but it's not the image that the MLB wants to portray to show scenes with charging the mound or benches emptying. Go figure.
