Cosmetically, I am thrilled they updated the jumbotron at Coors, now if the Coors wall can be cleaned up, but it's good with me.

Re: Patch 1.09 is Live
A little fix not mentioned but for baseball nuts like me who used to let it runs in demo mode while doing something else just to see some action.
There was an issue where both teams were wearing white home uniforms. Now fixedComment

Re: Patch 1.09 is Live
I've seen a couple of people mention double plays. I already hit into more double plays than average. Don't particularly want to increase that. What are you guys seeing exactly on double plays?
Seems like i already get thrown out at first on almost every chopper, weak hit, etc... and I play with fielder speed and reaction on 2 and 2. So im not sure what this will do. Defensively my GIDP numbers and hits allowed are good too. I really want to update to 1.09 but I hate fixing what hasn't been broken for me, at the expense of something else (according to some).
Besides, I've been begging for an ambiguous Top Prospects icon for years!Comment

Re: Patch 1.09 is Live
I must be one of the people that got a specially made copy of The Show as I scratch my head because I don't see anything brought up that leads me to believe the game play has changed (admittedly the manager/coaches photos disappeared with the last patch, but are back with this one). As far as game play it's been danged near perfect (play on auto field/manual throw).
I'm 21-22 in my franchise and last night I thought I had the Yankees wrapped up with a 4-2 lead. With the game trying to tell me something about my starting pitcher in the 7th I decided to go one batter further and Stanton made me pay for it. Wound up losing 5-4. Losses never feel better. Had to send down a couple relief pitchers and we'll see where it goes from here.Comment

Re: Patch 1.09 is Live
Let me know how 1.09 is for you. Hopefully it's good and I'll end up getting it. I really want to get Hybrid rosters soon, and I dont think there is a way without updating? If there is a way, someone please let me know. I would hate to skip Hybrid because of an unnecessary patch but i guess I will if i need to.

The only thing that bothers me mostly about this game is wild pitches. Like last year it's too many.

Re: Patch 1.09 is Live
While I haven't necessarily gotten more GIDP (IF throw 10, baserunner speed 8, I've hit into 0.5 GIDP per game, CPU 0.7 GIDP per game), the play, success or fail, plays out more believable for me, plus more times I get the guy heading to second instead of not even trying the turn, allowing for less runners moving up. That alone can make some difference even though an out was recorded either way and no GIDP either way.
Hitting into GIDP is more than just how they are turned.
Seems like i already get thrown out at first on almost every chopper, weak hit, etc... and I play with fielder speed and reaction on 2 and 2. So im not sure what this will do. I've had fielders playing back too much on balls they should be coming in on (not necessarily charge but if the SS was playing on the edge of the outfield grass, there's some balls he should move up to meet instead of letting the ball take 2 more slow hops to him) and now those plays are turning into more outs. I have gotten and allowed hits on plays like that and not even to the fast runners but it looks worse when someone with 80-90 SPD is hustling and the SS is not playing as aggressively as he should, even with 90+ Reaction and Fielding ratings.
Again, how much it changes will depend on how much the play happens for you. For me, it doesn't happen a ton, but it is noticeable when it does happen. So, now that they play more accurately, it's an out that maybe slips by here and there. It's not like it pulled my BABIP down 50 points or my DER up 50 points.
However, if it DID do that, then that means I was getting the right stats for the wrong reasons. For me, that's just as unacceptable. I'd rather the proper fielding and then tune more to get those hits back than to keep them because the infielders weren't playing correctly."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Patch 1.09 is Live
One thing that I noticed since playing a few innings on 1.09 this morning is that my 1B and 3B can actually field balls hit directly at them now.
Before, and in previous years of the game, every ball hit directly at my 1B and 3B, they would just go down on one kee, fling the glove up and whiff it and it was really really frustrating. I was starting to think this was a legacy issue. But thankfully it is fixed.
I did not bunt since the patch, but I'm glad to read that bunting is better.Comment

Re: Patch 1.09 is Live
Not sure if it is patch related, but in my first game after the patch I had a steal attempt gone wrong where the pitcher stepped off and was about to throw to second. I immediately tried to retreat and my runner just froze, like mid run stride, and wouldn't respond to any input. The pitcher then turned around and ran right at him and attempted to apply the tag but for a second it seemed he couldn't, before it finally registered contact and called my frozen runner 'out".
I'm also seeing the CPU take bases on balls in the dirt, right in front of my catcher, with lolly gagged throws, no matter what the throwing meter states.
And not patch related, I have adjusted sliders and cannot get my batters to swing and miss. I am making contact on early swings that no batter would be able to make contact with the balls that are that far out in front of the bat. And neither the CPU or myself really walk beyond maybe 1 time, combined, per game. The CPU will get 3 balls on me and just pound the strike zone or work corners. The only time I strike out is on borderline calls that I am trying to work a walk and don't swing. I don't want to mess with sliders too much or move them too far because I am enjoying the hit variety.
Oh, and the CPU and I both score as a result of homeruns way too much. It is hard to manufacture runs in this game, especially for the CPU.Comment

You and I both have that magical copy.
The game has simply never played better.
Infield defense has absolutely improved post patch 1.09. Silky smooth and looks great. I play auto field/manual button ratings based throwing.
Having the best console baseball game experience ever.
Amazing job on this game offline.
Online it has never played better too.
The only online games I play are in my OS Supporters DD League.
The game still does not feel like offline when you play online. But the servers and connections are stable. I will get an occasional laggy moment in the field. But 17 was atrocious online and 18 has been fun.

I thoroughly enjoy fielding this year.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
