Either way changes the game flow enough to not be an 'MLB' simulation anyway. I used Classic in '12 and in '16 but it never satisfied my sim-itch. But it still can be a very fun way to play the game, and still produce exciting games, by not having as much input, and let ratings determine outcomes.
I use classic pitching and what I do is....I don't use a pitched ball marker, I don't use hot/cold zones, at the beginning of the game I check to see what pitches my pitcher throws (the pitch buttons run counter clockwise on the controller and fastball is usually X) and turn off the pitch selection screen. This way I don't see the effectiveness or lack thereof of those particular pitches. I get a feel and know, for instance, that my pitchers slider just "ain't workin".

I also use a custom pitching view and it's ground level from an angle, no strike zone.

    I walk my fair share.

I do the same...though I just use the strike % screen to show the pitch types in order.

The other thing I do is turn off the controller vibration. I don't want the game telling me I am aiming out of the strike zone...I want to do it completely by feel.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Yeah i turn off vibration too with all modes. And also the strike zone etc. I like the screen as free of graphics as possible, although i do use pitch feedback. I would walk the CPU on classic too, but I just never could get the CPU to draw even close to 3 to 4 BB/9 to make it sim-worthy, but that just me.

I issue walks if the CPU discipline is strong.

I try my best to stay 40-45% of pitches physically in the zone. How many ever walks they get after that is on them. Last game, I had a zone % of 43.2% and issued 3 walks. CPU chased an average amount (about 30%) and ended up with an average amount of walks.

(One of) the problems I have with Classic is it pulls my pitches back into the zone because I "failed" on a pitch out of the zone. But instead of it just being an obvious ball, it becomes a meatball or perhaps worse...nips the opposite corner for a strike! That's like...yeah okay...bad enough I missed by what would be 3-7 feet total distance (depending on where I was targeting out of the zone and by how much), but I ended up with a strike, maybe even a strikeout lol

It's one reason why I tried Pulse, but this year, Pulse seems to make my pitchers trash. Last year, it was nice and I used it instead of Classic.

This year, back to Classic and the same issues, especially since I am trying to induce chases. I guess the game doesn't expect players to try to throw 3 out of 5 pitches for balls.

So for me, it's just a matter of getting the amount of balls I want thrown to try to induce chases. If Classic cooperates with that and CPU discipline is on point or better, 3-5 walks is not out of the question.

I always feel like the batters will tell us what stuff we have more than whatever is on the screen so I'm just lazy and leave it (plus I like seeing more information and seeing hot/cold zones is like reading scouting reports in my mind).

The only thing on the screen that tells me about my slider being bad is it going over the wall or being raked for 112 MPH liners constantly

I'm like "okaaaaaay....I won't be using that pitch this game, I guess!"

On the next patch, can they please 86 that screaming kid in the crowd? He is so annoying!
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

Lol. This again. I was wondering if it is annoying others also. I dont understand why they would add that in at all with a patch. Did they add other sounds too and this was just part of the pack?

It's been in since they released this game. You're playing a video game, you're trying to relax, I don't know who had the brilliant idea of adding a kid screaming in your ear?

Ironically, I was playing "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" the other day. There's a part where they have a baby Goron crying at the top of his lungs, but at least you can do something in the game to shut that kid up. Maybe they can make it so that you can buy the kid a hot dog or something and he puts a lid on it?

                    Give us something!

Lol great idea. Maybe make it where you can fire ushers, and then hire ushers with better attributes?

I have only recently heard this kid when it was pointed out here. I listened for it last night on a game without the latest updates, and i never heard it. Maybe in other parks i would hear it. Either that, or my sound system somehow drowns it out. I will play with just tv speakers later and see if i can hear it.

On HOF it was too easy simply because the CPU doesn't seem as dangerous as real big leaguers should. But on Legend, analog is not easy for me, even after all these years. I am with you that the Analog mechanic feels extremely satisfying, and is actually my preferred method by far. Somehow it feels like you are really throwing the ball or something. And i love putting touch on breaking balls. Its actually one of my favorite things about the Show.

I pitch on Legend using both meter and analog in different franchises. And i actually play with the same pitching sliders on both interfaces and i get very realistic-feeling games and stats on both. (Both Human control and consistency at 1 i believe - trust me, its not drastic like it sounds. I had them that low on HOF too.) So i still get HBP's etc. My Analog franchise has a worse ERA and WHIP than meter right now and ive walked 9 guys the last 2 games. I average a fraction less than 3 BB per game on both franchises.

As someone who has used Analog and Meter for years, in my opinion both are valid options still - if you go to Legend, making the CPU not semi-pro. Staying at HOF could be good too, and use Classic like Armor suggested, as it leans toward being ratings-based, instead of more user-input-based. Many people use it and like it.

The only problem i have with classic is walking batters just doesn't happen enough. But it still can be a very fun way to play the game, and still produce exciting games, by not having as much input, and let ratings determine outcomes.

So there are plenty of options to keep playing. If you choose to stick to Analog or meter, in my opinion, Legend is greatness. Just turn those pitching sliders down, and... -important- get hitters to chase. And respect the good hitters enough to pitch around them when necessary.

Right on. Yeah, after playing analog for so long, every thing else just isn’t as engaging and fulfilling for me.

My first game on Legend went well with Jeff Samardzija (thankfully he’s better in my franchise than real life lol). I only gave up 1 run which was a HR. I did have to work out of several jams, so it very easily could’ve been much worse. Feels much better for sure.

I’ve only given up 2 HR in 10 games since the patch. In the last few games, I’ve been playing with CPU solid hits and power bumped up a notch (with your excellent sliders as my starting base, so power at 6 and solid hits at 5).

If Analog didn’t feel so damn good I’d switch, but nothing else feels as satisfying to me mechanically after playing analog since like 2012.

Maybe going to Legend will do the trick.
When the added analog it took me so long to attempt to use it. Once i did and perfected it I didn't want to use anything else. Juat feels right. Glad someone else uses it though....i was starting to feel like the only one anymore!

It is truly underrated. Ive been trying to convince a friend of mine to try it for a while. He is in his comfort zone. But he will someday.

                              Analog for life!

I got my local buddy hooked on it as well and he can never go back now either.

Maybe underrated in the offline community, but it's far and away the most used in head to head online. I'm kind of the odd duck because I use meter online.
