I'm still playing it solidly. I only play sports games on PS4, and the Show 18 is the best one i've played in a long while. It's so deep and the gameplay this year at least for me doesn't feel scripted.

I'd like better bullpen logic and commentary ... but sheesh, the absence of them aren't gamekillers for me. Unlike:

Madden hasn't been good in forever. the run game, blocking and secondary just kill it for me every year after not even a month.

Fifa has run the exact same franchise mode with no upgrades or tweaks since 2013. they're all about their FUT mode and micro transactions.

NBA2K CM was solid, but online it was the worst. CM still only kept me entertained for around 8 weeks.

The show still has the best AI logic surrounding running a club, trade engine and all the off field stuff in sports gaming. On the park, the game has issues sure. nothing's perfect. but i find it to be totally immersive and packed with realism.

In the last two days I've played 4 games. In those 4 games alone, I've seen the following:

- a little 4 foot popup to the pitcher that dropped in front of him resulting in a single. Why? Because the animation to catch the ball never initiated. It's bad enough that the ball physics are so broken that these 4 foot pop-ups to the pitcher even exist, but when they land for singles because an animation fails to kick in, that's an abomination.

- a sac bunt resulting in a double play because... rocket bunts. That's why.

- Aaron Judge, who has been mired in a slump that has seen his average go down from .340 to .250 (with COUNTLESS line drives conveniently right at fielders) seemingly breaks out of the slump by hitting two absolute moonshots, NEITHER of which my pci was even close to being on the pitch.

- a 4 hit shutout pitched by Severino in which I was only able to muster 2 strikeouts. What's so bad about this? The announcer actually had the audacity to say that Severino is a pitch to contact pitcher. Severino throws triple digits and is a premier strikeout pitcher. Another thing I failed to mention in the OP, the commentating is and continues to be miserable and inaccurate.

- Personalized umpires seemingly changing their personalization depending on situation. Beginning of game, umpire is calling a tight zone. By the seventh of a tight game, not one but two pitches that literally aren't even touching the OUTLINE of the strike zone both called strikes. Again, another thing I didn't mention in the OP. The list literally goes on and on.

- Not one, not two, but three long foul balls that are fair until the VERY last second, then conveniently curve foul literally one or two inches before the foul poll. This literally seems to happen every.single.game.

It baffles me how some of sit here and say the gameplay is phenomenal when things like this happen on a regular basis. Yes, the game is great. It simply isn't a sim. Not close.

It baffles me trying to figure out which game before this one isn't as good but wasn't an utter disappointment. Unless every baseball videogame you've ever played was also an utter disappointment. Which would put things a new light to me

Are you just looking for 100% affirmation? You already have a handful of people agreeing with you. Isn’t that enough? Does it really bother you that much that a whole host of people don’t see what you see? That they think the game is a great sim?

Other baseball games didn't market themselves as simulations nearly as much as this. When you expect something and you don't get it, you tend to get disappointed. In this day and age, I was expecting more. Bunts worked in other games. Animations weren't nearly as unstable as they are in this game. Certain basic principles of baseball functioned in those other games. The issues with this game are all legacy issues that have been mentioned for years with no solution, yet they continue to add other things. My frustration lies with that.

I quite enjoy Countryboy's franchise updates, and the fact that this game makes him happy, also makes me happy.

You've got every right to be disappointed and make 1000 posts if this game didn't meet your expectations, but how about we skip being a donkey towards a guy who enjoys it, tries to share his enjoyment with us, and who hasn't said a thing on this thread.

Honestly, because some of these issues haven't been in the game before. Rocket bunts were employed when the online community started cheesing. Many of the poor animations were actually alleviated when the game first came out, only to be reverted back to previous iterations on subsequent patches. I'm frustrated because these are issues that have been rectified that seem to have gone backwards in order to appease the online community and not in an effort to be more sim.

I don't know if I'm in this alledged "fan boy" camp or not (nor do I care), but I certainly acknowledge the flaws in this game - and I know I'm going to have to tweak it to get what I want to see out of it.

But that doesn't disappoint me because it's what I expect to do. Whether it's Madden (when I played it) or The Show or whatever - I expect to need to change things.

It is annoying, but I'll tweak and move on (because doing nothing and being upset will just upset me...while not addressing the problem), report it to the devs on their board or if they ask for input here, and get on with it.

It can be better and should be better, but I don't expect it to be. If it is, I'm pleasantly surprised. If it's not...what else is new - I'll do what I've done since MLB12 - tweak, report, and get on with it until I decide I've had enough and I'll just leave the series.

I think a lot of the points made about the shortcomings of this game would be better taken by the community if they were in a direct counter to other members' posts speaking of the positives within the same game.

That being said, all of these opinions or points being made should probably just reside in the impressions thread, as per the rules of this site.

That also being said, I hate long *** impressions or Q&A threads because so much stuff gets lost in those, or glossed over.

And with all of it being said, I dunno what good any of this is doing anyone. Because I'm not sure SCEA is either reading these issues or compliments, or they don't care, with how many legacy issues are still in the game. Or we need to do a better job of listing these issues in a productive manner and do less attacking or marginalizing the opinions of those who do not see things in the same light as we do.

Just my 2 cents.
