Re: MLB the show 19 or BUST
I've grown to love this year's game. I'm almost done with my 3rd season with the Nationals. I guess I've put in my time, so it's not as bad as it once was, but you are right. I'm not buying this game every year anymore if '19 is not up to pay. '17 is still my GOAT baseball game. I will not buy this game every year because there's no need plus I would like to finish more than 3 seasons on top of having other games in my rotation. By the time you get deep into franchise ,the next game is coming lol.
I've been tempted to buy RBI Baseball 18. It's 20 dollars on BestBuy.com, so I would get 20% off of that. I guess being a huge baseball fan and hating playing old games, I am forced to play '18. I am with the guys who said they need to work on offline franchise. That's all I play for the cycle.Last edited by Hellquist; 10-24-2018, 07:05 PM.Comment

Originally posted by Caulfieldat the very least I would have kept 16 or 17 to play this past year. If I would have had to, I think I could have kept playing one of them for a couple or even 3 years. I definitely wouldnt have been able to not play during the summer. Thankfully, even at a full price of $65 still works out to only a little over a dollar a week to play. A bargain in my book, esp. considering baseballis my favorite game. I just always make sure I set aside a dollar every week so its no big deal each March. I still pop in Show 14 from time to time and I probably could have played that all summer if needed lol
tl;dr pre-ordered mlb 2k12 never picked up a game on day one again
SpoilerSince I've I pre-ordered MLB2k12 (was one of like 3 of close to 100 people at gamestop for midnight launch as halo remastered for 360 dropped that night too, lol) and got to enjoy the homerun rob glitch (playing as a CF in Career mode it was aggravating robbing the homerun and the run still going up on the board) I haven't bought a game on day one since.
17 seemed gimmicky (retro mode) with no real changes aside from rosters (which can be downloaded via players continuing to update them) and 18 just seemed to be them going all in on DD, which I never played (legit got a Kershaw card just this week via daily rewards in 16 though, lol).
I really am hoping DD just dies off like the card thing did for NHL where it becomes a side thing. But with The Show having its stubs system, where you can buy boosts with ease and the equipment... Maybe NHL players are more of purists than MLB video game players? lol idk
EDIT: Also, when EA has a game in NHL that has a drastically superior franchise mode to you, you're doing something horribly wrong. (Relocating teams/custom arenas/teams/etc expansion drafts)Comment

Re: MLB the show 19 or BUST
Noped its gonna have to be really really mind blowing in terms of gameplay and creation. Especially for classic rosters. With the roster download section, you can just download a new team roster or continue your franchise from the previous year.
Every year they come up with some way to get you to purchase the game. It's not just them it's all of these company's making games. I'm on a wait and see approach but it's going to have to be way better game play then what we already have, better interaction like you see at a real mlb game. Full customization of stadiums, players and accessories.
Weather updates, game cancellations called by the umpire, they already have the grounds crew racking after the game, why cant they have a code wear they drag a tarp across the infield in a rain delay?
With this title being 19 and seeing what gaming developers with games like red dead redemption 2, call of duty 4, with the technology being used they should be able to do more.
So we'll see but it's not a day one purchase. And now all of these devs are pushing this pay to play 3 and 4 days early I personally think is ridiculous, only to here a month or so later, "the game is broken" or "if I remove the game and done use a patch it will greatly fix my broken game"
You should not have to any of that to have an enjoyable experience with any game. So no I will not pre order or day 1 but this product anymore. Now if the game comes out and its truly better than what I have already and I'm fortunate enough to buy it then sure, but not until looking at it.I stream a variety of video games for relaxation and fun.

Re: MLB the show 19 or BUST
MLB The Show is a slap singles hitter on a hitting streak. And there’s something to be said for that. But there are diminishing returns each year. Peruse as far back as the the show 13 thread and you’ll see post after post saying “starting to get stale.” When the game first came over to PS4 the first year the complains were, its too much of the same game, getting stale. I see people who have played the game for 3-4 years talking about how stale it is. Guys, you have no idea how the true veterans feel.Comment

Originally posted by Caulfieldwell put. Its almost like the Show is Ty Cobb just as consistent as can be but if the Babe Ruth of baseball video games ever comes along... Not only do chicks dig the long ball, us guys do too lol. Heck, it could even be the Dave Kingman of baseball video games that makes the scene and I just dont really think the market can support 2 major baseball titles anymore. I hope I'm wrong and RBI turns a corner to get on par with the Show, I'd buy both each year, hope I'm surprised and both can coexist and turn a handsome profit.Comment

MLB the show 19 or BUST
I think gameplay wise they did that on 18.
They swung for the fences on 17 and then tightened up and added so much more in terms of ball physics and animations to 18. And I love the re-skin they did to franchise mode.
18 has been a huge leap from 14 and 15. Huge.
I really feel that those of us who have played 200-300 games are getting the full monty. I am still seeing new hit types and ball trajectories....still!!!!

this game is so stale i'm sorry. i'm a big roster creator and have been wanting create a team outside of stupid dd mode and i've been disppointed every year for the last ten years.
If it's not in this year (which im guessing it's not), I'm finally done with the game.Comment

I assume they use C as their main programming language, so that's what would be used for writing the create a stadium mode. It would take effort and time. It's very possible for them to do it, but it's not something that would make them money. I mean, it would make people happier to spend their money, but it wouldn't get them additional money.
Also, it would take them months to create it. I mean, I know their programmers are able to do such a thing, but it would take a lot of time for them to sort it all out and implement it in to the current game structure.Last edited by MLB14; 01-13-2019, 11:08 PM.Do it. I’d take a look at Pro Yakyuu Spirits too. It’s not an MLB experience (NPB, obviously), but it is a fantastic baseball experience if you need to scratch that itch. I love The Show, but PYS honestly has the best gameplay I’ve ever played bar none. And I’ve been playing The Show since 2008. Played MVP Baseball before that. You’d have to use a translation site though, as it’s only in Japanese. (spiritstranslation is the best one) The latest addition was 2015, but Konami have announced it is returning this upcoming season.

Re: MLB the show 19 or BUST
After skipping '18 completely, I really hope they give me a good reason (or several) to get back on the bus. If nothing else, I've proven to myself that I can skip the game if I feel underwhelmed. I was afraid I'd cave at some point during the summer, but nope. Hoping it was just a one year hiatus tho
Same here for me as well, like you I skipped 18, and just went with OOTP instead, and you know, I enjoyed OOTP so much, that I didnt even fire up my PS4 to play MLBTS17 at all.
I dont figure OOTP will likely have enough improvements this yr for me to buy it, so I will be happy to stick with 19. Now if for some reason, there is a huge change in OOTP, as far as graphics, and the ability to call for different pitches for your pitcher, then that may be too much for me too pass up, and I wont spend the money to buy both, so its one or the other for me, from now on.
I am hoping MLBTS19, has such a improved Franchise mode, with a better sim engine, and Spring Training has been reworked, and not just the same bland Spring Training, thats bare bones, with no non 40 man invites, along with having more than just 1 spring training ballpark for the Cactus league, and 1 for the grapefruit league, they will be able to sway me into getting MLBTS19.
But the devs over the last few yrs, have started to cater to the online players, and as usual the hardcore fans of the sport, who are Franchise fanatics tend to get screwed. Which I never thought the devs for The Show would do to us, like Madden, and the NBA2k devs did to their offline Franchise players.
Now days it seems its all about gimic fantasy modes which is the farthest from the game being a actual simulation of that professional sport. I could understand online Franchise modes being more popular than offline franchise modes, but gimic fantasy modes, make no sense to me at all. I guess Im just getting old, but I dont even like fantasy sports gambling IRL, either, LOL.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11
