I played every pitch in franchise until....
I calculated that it takes 5 days or 121 hours to complete one season. I love The Show and the control of playing every pitch but can’t get over the fact I spend 5 days a year playing the game. I have tried only hitting and using quick sim for pitching but then it feels like I’m missing out on half of the game. Any suggestions on how to to be “in control” of my franchise without playing every pitch?

Re: I played every pitch in franchise until....
I've completed two full seasons playing every pitch and working on my 3rd. So that means I've spend 10 days and 242 hours playing the Show.
Best 10 days and 242 hours of my life.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: I played every pitch in franchise until....
I don't think you can ever replace the feeling of control you have by playing every pitch and every at bat. I would suggest you give quick manage a try though. You can burst through entire games quickly while still having some small agency on the outcome. You can also join a game whenever you want, or turn on Quick Manage for a blowout. I never use it for my MLB team, but I use it every game for my minors, and sometimes pop in on plays to scout specific players.

Re: I played every pitch in franchise until....
There are 8760 hours in a year, so 121 really isn't a whole lot. Anyway, when I'm trying to reduce my time playing but still feel in control, I play the first one or maybe two innings, then sim until the 6th and take over. This allows me to play a little with my starter and do most of the substitutions unless my pitcher gets shelled while I'm simming. The only downside is pitch counts don't go up enough while you're simming. You can work 40 pitches in the first two innings, then you come back in the 6th and the other teams pitcher is at 61 pitchesComment

Re: I played every pitch in franchise until....
In the time it took you to calculate that, you could have played a couple innings.
All kidding aside, I consider this every year but can never ever bring myself to simulate or use quick counts. I love the grind and even the disappointment that comes with a full season.
This year I won 109 games and then got swept in dramatic losses to the Brewers in the NLDS. I was seriously bummed over the losses and how I had late-innings collapses in Games 2 and 3. But in the end, playing every pitch of every game made it all the more dramatic and disappointing.

That's why carryover saves exist!
Usually I start my season in one game and then I get to around August/September before the next game comes out, so I transfer it over and keep pushing. I typically finish a whole season (playoffs included) in about 14-16 months. When I feel a little burnt out of playing entire games, I just mix in a little RTTS.
There's no rule that says you have to finish an entire season in one year. If you prefer to play every pitch then do that, and do it at a pace that works for you.Comment

Just want to throw out there that there is a third option you seem to be forgetting: play every pitch, but do not try to complete the season in one year.
