I've basically spent the entire year just editing. It's become a long and strenuous process that it literally took a toll on me mentally and physically at times. Myself, and Ridin have reached out to Mods here at OS (you know who you are) and have been met with "sorry I can't help you" on numerous occasions. We've even reached out to a few devs themselves and have gotten no responses with some issues we've had the last two and half years. I will give them credit cause they did fix the roster glitch issues with the vault early in 18.

Like Ridin, I love working on OSFM and I appreciate the work that all the creators have done many of which are OS members, but if franchise is neglected once again then I am out of the OSFM scene and I'll just stick to the fictional franchise roster that I plan on using for 19 and beyond.

Also, just to give you guys a glimpse into just how much work Ridin and myself put in, we both attend Spring Training Games each year he attends Grapefruit League Games and I go to Cactus League Games, and we both talk to players on the MLB side and the MiLB side each year these guys know who we are and they seek us out and ask us about the rosters and they even give input such as ratings, equipment, and even appearance updates. People think it's just us sitting behind a computer screen, but that isn't the case. A lot of time is invested in this roster on a year to year basis only to be picked apart by certain individuals.

I personally, have no issue or don't care about not being invited to Sony or anything like that. My issue is we put in all this work each year and sometimes it just feels like wasted time when franchise basically stays the same year to year. They have made some minor strides, but nowhere close to the potential the mode could have.

If this is my last year doing this I personally would like to thank Ridin, Ivanhoe, CWSpalehoseCWS, Csura999, Bacon96, TreeFive, Puertorck07 (not an OSFM guy, but his CAPS have been used by us), kpf48, Houston, DueceMonkey, Sammyf77, Motown, Abotti, firephantom22,Nena0607, CujoMatty, Willard, boomersooner's draft pick CAPS, and anyone else I might have forgotten they have been a huge assets to this project and you guys need to support them by up voting their CAPS in the vault and supporting any personal roster projects they do.
Wow! I've sorta taken you roster makers for granted & not visioned playing the game w/o your input...

Not having Ridin's rosters at hand would cause me to "skip MLB The Show 19"...

I hope you guys remain firm on your stance, we support you

I don't think i played this series since 08 so I think I would be plenty surprised about how much the game has probably changed.

Yet if the franchise mode of this game is treated like other sports games have been lately, then its a no buy. As of right now its not even a pre-order just on that recent trend alone.

No need to worry man. There will be an OSFM for 19 regardless. Depending on what improvements they make with franchise mode (if any at all) in 19 and depending on how many players will be missing again that shouldn't be, this will be the last one myself and Ridin create. Then anyone else can take over from MLB 20 and beyond.

If Service Time isn't editable, and there are no significant changes, I may skip this year.

All I'm interested in is retro rosters/seasons. Its a game wrecker that it takes so much work to recreate a roster properly (populating stats and service time)

simming service time was hella lot easier 17 and earlier. 18 was a nightmare in that aspect. I could pop up a 14 game season and it took almost no time. Recreating stats, I gave up on long ago.

Can you just manually DL/injure everybody, and it still counts as service time?

.. I'd rather have no stats than incorrect ones.

Don't want to say I told you so, but angering the offline people who by and large create all of the valuable content for this game (rosters, sliders etc) was bound to be a bad idea. With the OSFM guys now chiming in on this, hopefully Sony takes heed. Their game would be orders of magnitude less attractive without all the juicy content created by the community after release. I think this is one context where the word "unplayable" actually makes sense. lol

It might make sense to go back to the old Knight165 model where each team is created by different people and then pieced together instead of just 2 or 3 guys working on the entire set. There are pros and cons to either the centralized or decentralized approach, but the main con with what you and Ridin have been doing lately is massive burnout from such a high workload. Nonetheless, the community should be very thankful for your efforts over these many years no matter what you decide to work on--or not work on--in the future.

18 was just bad from the default stand point. Had to create way more guys than was necessary, then each roster update they would remove player after player and we had to just keep creating. And as you know moving guys around from team to team can be a headache in itself (this needs to change to something similar with 2K where we can just add guys to teams without replacing them right away). Each year it becomes increasingly difficult to work on the roster especially when timelines are involved. It almost feels like SCEA does this to us on purpose (I know they don't do it on purpose) and as I get older and promoted with my job I don't have the same kind of time I used to have to be dedicated to this project.

I didn't mind the old Knight165 way, but the problem you run into with that is homerism and we all saw the problems that came with that a few years back, but hey if we stop doing it more power to the people lol.

This game really needs an export feature in franchise mode (the roster side of things in general could use an overhaul) and a lot of these complaints would go away over time.

It was definitely a huge undertaking this past year, but I think people will be impressed with what we've done for 19 it probably is the most detailed set we've ever had which would be fitting if it really is our last.

Great thread and great ideas all around. Which is why we should be involved in community day and feedback events. Its not rocket science. Some of these guys know the ins and outs of rosters better than scea. Not asking for alot here just a voice that this community deserves.

Yea baseball is one game I think where you can't just micro transaction/online the way to "success" like the other games ( NBA2k, Madden ) They lose the sim customers, they lose the game.

what I did to get a year's service time before 18 was use season mode and a 14 game season. Then I'd set all the attributes to zero, and in a 14 game stretch, I never saw one of these players so much as sniff a plate appearance.

I agree and to an extent with lots of teams still have guys doing them examples CWS, Pirates etc but it comes down to reliability, coordination and as Showtyme says people not applying homerism. We come up with a much more unified set the way we have done it but theres always room for others to do it the old way i just know i would prob call it a day and let someone else try to coordinate and organize that as i know what it would mean. I think the way we have been doing it would work fine if we had ways to give feedback and access to answers that come up that can potentially cost us to lose hundreds of hrs. I will say I am disappointed in OS as we have reached out to Mods and been ignored. These mods have had access to SCEA and apparently didnt feel OSFM was important enough to warrant even a reply.

Re: Is there anything that would make you skip MLB The Show 19?

I've done rosters for the original xbox MLB2K13 for many years. Anyone who played MLB 2K12 & 13 (while they had roster sharing) might recall that my rosters (mkharsh33) were the most downloaded rosters by the thousands.

I would be willing to help - BUT, I'm still learning the system for The Show - I would need a roster maker to email me what the attributes mean. Now, I'm not stupid, but I'm not sure on the pitchers exactly which way certain ratings make a guy play - either better or worse. So I would need some help on that. Just throwing it out there. My only problem is that I'm 46, have 3 teenage kids that keep me busy, and my work keeps me tons busy. But I'm just throwing this out there.

MLB The Show 18 is my first ever playing this title. I know many of you have played this game for years and know all of its warts and how repetitive the commentary is, etc... But I'll just say this: MLB The Show 18 is THE GREATEST sports video game I've ever played, from a visual / graphics standpoint to game play - I absolutely LOVE it. I can't say thank you enough to those here who provide the rosters, both current and historical.
