Sounds good. My main concern is the re-encryption of the files. If they can get that sorted out I think they should work.

Over the weekend I tested a little theory by hex editing an 18 and a 19 roster. Tried to replace the hex in the 19 with the hex from an 18 to see if it ported over, and it just corrupted the file. Figured it was worth a try though

I wish I could be of help on the programming end, but that ship has long since sailed.
I’m guessing the $ will do it. Just have to find and hire the right guy I figured, so I ended up posting for it. The key is going to be if they’re computer and PS4 savvy, which the guys I’ve got working on it so far probably aren’t PS4 savvy. But as long as it encrypts and allows edits, we should be solid.

So from what I see so far, there’s 2 decrypt tools for the PES soccer game for PS4. Those seem to come very close to decrypting the files for The show. So that’s probably a good place to start...I think that could be the breakthrough on getting into these files.

Sony does not have any kind of exclusive agreement with MLB. Anyone can make a game.

Re: We desperately need a roster editor!

              Quick update..

Today I tried again to decrypt the file using the PES decryption tool. It supposedly decrypted it. So, I took some hex from a file from an 18 roster and pasted it over the hex in the 19 roster and re-encrypted it. That seemed to work. It came up as the same file size as the 18 file and showed the 19 icon on it from the USB. But when I went to copy it, it kept telling me to update the system software. So something that got ported over is prompting a system update. Now, I can’t seem to decode the hex to know what that may be.

That said, the fact that particular tool was seemingly able to decrypt and re-encrypt the file is a good sign. It means the encryption won’t be the issue here. Now we just need somebody who can decode what the hex is and hopefully make a program that’ll demonstrate that. I still have a guy hired to do this, but I didn’t hear any news today so I’m not sure where he’s at with it. I’ve passed on all the info I have so hopefully it helps.

if no one cracked the code on PS3 , I imagine there's zero chance the PS4 gets cracked . if by some miracle someone does figure it out, it'll probably be after the PS5 release, and for naught

And expect Sony to release a patch/fix to their OS as soon as they find out. :-(

If some find out how Sony’s signing/encrypting/checksum their filesystem, imagine what kind of malware can be introduced.

They can make a game but can't use anything copyrighted by MLB or use real player names or images.

As a kid I always wanted games to have real logos and real players. But now, i would take a game with all generic teams and players as long as it was realistic, and if i could edit everything. I love the Show and it plays pretty dang realistically, but i would jump on a different baseball game (with generic teams) if it played realistically and it had a modding community. Thats my new baseball dream. I guess that's getting into PC land. But hey i would take it.

Re: We desperately need a roster editor!

So I’ve restarted trying to find somebody who can crack the encryption on the roster files. Once we can do that, I think editing will be easy.

Ive reposted looking for a programmer to do so. However, the budget is a little smaller this time (relocated for a new job a couple months ago), so we’ll see if I’m able to make it work. I’ve put up 1k for whoever can make it happen, which so far hasn’t seemed to motivate many to try.
