I'm not surprised that there are more negative comments than positive. Sometimes this forum is so rudely dismissive of every other game mode, like if you don't play franchise you are somehow less of a baseball fan.

How would you guys like it if DD and RTtS fans invaded a thread about Franchise and started crapping all over that mode.

Pretty underwhelming tbh, not as exciting as I hoped it would be given the apparent focus on RTTS. No mention of improved AI, which is desperately needed and the choices seem less important than I'd hoped. There doesn't seem to be the RPG element that I'd hoped it would be, instead just obvious choices that just leads to perks.(cheats) The fact that you can eventually end up being a master in all 4 personality types seems like a mistake, it takes away the character.

The challenges are a good addition, by far the most interesting to me anyway. I seem to recall them being on older games as well, but now they seem more dynamic and you get a choice on how big you want to gamble which is cool. The other most positive "additions" to me are the return of being able to pick your team and removal of CAP's, giving us back the option to play the game how we want.

The mini games look a bit, erm, basic? They look like they'll get pretty old, pretty quickly as they really don't seem very tactical.

Generally I was hoping for something to really grab me and make me want to play RTTS this year, but I didn't really see it.

what do you mean?? franchise guys (myself included) crap over franchise mode anyway because of the lack of updates the last few years.

If the $$DD$$ guys wanna come into franchise mode threads and crap on it go ahead even if it was the number 1 focus of the game.

my biggest issue with the streams is sometimes it feels like they are talking to us like we are 8 years old. pointing out things like 'he has 9 home runs it is early in the season so that means he is off to a hot start'

That tells you right there it is aimed at casual baseball fans and games for the DD stuff.

Nothing to get excited about here. Gamestop Monday was better.

Every time I watch one of these, I get the feeling that the streams are not for us, but for management. It's as if they were brought into a conference room to detail what they've been working on all year for the guys upstairs.

The changes shown this year so far have been subtle. It could change. But it's not trending well thus far.

They also said that DD ratings go up to 125 again this year, with Diamonds starting at 85 again which unfortunately suggests immortals will be making a return. Seriously hope not and that they've instead just stretched the 90-99 ratings a bit, but at this point immortals being back seems more likely

Yeah, the lack of comments show the interest in rtts. Which is surprising because it's been in the game since 06 and has had just as much of a role in the popularity of the game as franchise.

I like most of the changes they've made. They have actually added some innovative features.

This is the worst MLB the Show stream i've ever watched. Now i'm a franchise guy but watching this stream there isn't anything i'm remotely excited about.

Of all the streams I've watched over the years, I would agree. It did seem to be more of a promo than a stream to get you excited about the new features. I played some RTTS last year but I turn off all the gimmicks. This year there appear to be alot more of it than gameplay. That said, I think the stream was designed to discuss the gimmicks if you want them, but not interfere with gameplay. I am a primary offline franchise guy. Aside from occasional RTTS, I don't play any of the other modes.

That tells you right there it is aimed at casual baseball fans and games for the DD stuff.

That was actually the most interesting part of the stream for me. It showed that the engine recognized players on hot or unanticipated streaks and the CPU adjusts accordingly. I hope this engine is carried over to franchise.

are you kidding me with that HR celebration? imagine if that happened in real life it would be a all in brawl that would last 2 hours!

HA. I watch the stream just see what you were talking about. In 17 they have a ridiculous homerun celebration trot where you are being a jackass rounding the bases, cartwheeling cross home plate, dancing, showboating. It my favorite part of Rtts EVER. I like my character being a obnoxious asshat ball player.

I am excited for RTTS. The rival/ friend system gives me a reason to GAF about other players and teams. More immersive. It’s obvious a ton of work has been put into the mode. Honestly thought more people would be amped.

I don’t have a problem with Immortals themselves. I had a problem with the BS way they kept them locked and how stupid all the programs were last year. Giant step back from the year before imo.

I like in general what I’ve seen but is it possible for the GUI guy to tone it down a notch ? It’s killing the immersion and I feel like playing Super Mario Kart.

I can almost guarantee nothing about the way they’re describing things in these streams is aimed at “casual” fans. “Casual” fans are not watching developer streams.

They need to tone down that damn Challenge OSD splash screen a thousand. Make it just a color coded borders along the perimeter of the TV, filling the whole screen is just jarring. They need to translate the challenge to the player on the field as well. He showed no emotion at all in hitting a triple or completing the challenge. You added base celebrations for a reason and everyone celebrates a "triple" one way or the other. Hitting a triple is a big deal anytime in the game. Use those face gestures, base celebrations, and infielder out signals as part of the challenge acceptance, some display of emotion(s). Seeing your puppet react to the challenge is a good thing and immersive, without all the jarring splash screens.

Other than that they need to take a nap or something.

Color Coded Challenge along the border of your TV instead of that splash screen they use now
Accept challenge splash along the borders
