    Yeah same here, make it optional like the ball trail.

      I only play franchise offline so don't want to see it.

        Honestly, I disliked everything about them. They ruin all non-immortals by being too good, making live series players pretty irrelevant. Then at the same time they just feel cheap and not at all linked to the player they are supposed to be, as the stats are all just maxed out and not representative of the actual player at any time in their career. Throw in the obnoxious cash grab of trading in thousands of souvenirs to get them and it was just a real down year

          Frankly after all is said and done I just like baseball especially RTTS which all I play and care about. I don't care about mini game or perks ect, I just want good game play, decent graphics for my PS4 Pro and having fun making myself a superstar for my Cardinals. At the end of they day they are trying to appeal to the masses with these extras, I don't mind it doesn't effect me in any way.I will play the way I want anyway but it's nice to have options if I want them. JMHO.

              I'm not a RTTS player, but this was very intriguing and may make me dabble in it for the first time since it was introduced many moons ago.

                Fair point. I never unlocked one and I got frustrated with how boring the DD challenges were before they really started to show up so I never really saw them in practice.

                  This stream pretty well sealed the deal that I'm not buying the game this year. I'm still having a lot of fun with 18, and have updated the rosters as best I can for the upcoming season. As bad as I hate to say it, this game seems like nothing more than a cash grab now. As a strictly franchise guy, the game is pretty much over for me.

                        The changes to this year seem interesting to say the least, well for me anyway. My one issue with the way they do this is an ongoing one.

                        Now I am not bashing DD or anything but what I do hate very much is that they have tied all of this stuff to being online. I can't spend stubs that I have earned in game offline on any mode. Inventory, equipment store, sponsors cards, none of that can be accessed offline.

                        Folks wonder why the offline crowd gets a little bent out of shape sometimes? Now granted some/a lot of that is faux outrage for the sake of being angry. But I mean they add all of this stuff and some of us thinks its cool but its pointless because we are not online with our consoles and now it is set up that we cant use or access it even though we earn our stubs just like everybody else. I mean I understand not being able to access DD stuff and modes but the things we can use offline should be accessible to be bought and used offline. I'm sorry but I think its a crap decision and one of the reasons why I was hesitant to buy this years game on day one.

                              Yes...they added contract extensions

                              Franchise Mode will be discussed in a stream on March 7th.

                                @speels
                                There are a couple of design theories at work here.
                                First, the deliverable in ANY form of entertainment, is emotion.  Music, literature, stage, film, video games, doesn't matter.  Without emotion, there's no entertainment.
                                Second, the goal of a narrative, is the compression of space and time.  The idea is to balance SCALE against ECONOMY.  If I'm watching a drama about World War Two, I don't need to see a routine scene with the troops getting their uniforms inspected.  Yes, I know that's part of what happened, but if it's unemotional, the scene doesn't advance the plot, and it arguably needs to be cut.  But let's say that instead of a routine inspection, it's the last uniform inspection before graduation at boot camp, before two lifelong buddies who grew up and enlisted together, are about to go to different training programs, knowing this may be the very last time they ever get to see the other guy alive.  NOW you've got emotion; NOW you've got a scene; NOW you leave that in.
                                Catching a subway train in Tokyo sounds routine, and for a lot of people, it is.  But if it's your very first day at a new school, and every grown-up is emphasizing that you not be late on your very  first day, and you have to make a transfer at a station with unfamiliar corridors and staircases running every which way, NOW you have a scene (an actual one, and a good one, too, in Persona 5).
                                DIFFERENT MODES ARE DESIGNED FOR DIFFERENT EMOTIONAL PAYOFFS.  That's the key. For a mode focused on a single character, the payoff is in the empathy, in the emotional connection between the character and the user.  And that's why world building is so crucial for a mode like this:  you can't walk a mile in your character's shoes, if there's only fifty feet worth of road.  And if a road is long, but flat and featureless, do you really want to walk a mile on it?
                                So, yeah, those mode design choices make a LOT of sense, once you understand what's really being designed.  If the deliverable is emotion, and the emotion is empathy, then the character and milieu have to be relatable in some way, or you won't get the empathetic response that you need, to keep the user engaged with the character and the mode.
