My mistake. I knew some players are created but I just assumed the majority have been scanned by now.

It was a story written by an ESPN columnist who probably knows nothing detailed about the Show other than it's a baseball game.

It's not unrealistic to assume that he saw the cameras, wrote a fun story, and assumed they were for this years game. It's highly unlikely that he knew, historically that spring training scans are for next years game. On top of that, it's more likely no one who knows better, would care enough to point that out.

It would be great to be pleasantly surprised, but as was pointed out before, logistically, it's highly unlikely these could be done for a game releasing in a couple weeks.
so possibly you could be right but I don't think so but we shall see, I have no issue saying I was wrong and why that assumption about the ESPN columnist?

You can choose to believe me or not, don’t really care. But I was told by a reliable source, their have been no changes to how this process is handled. Bottom line, any scans done this year will be in next years game. Including rookies or whatever. It is simply the way they do it. Probably never going to change.

I took that it meant for this year when he gets called up. I sure hope so not a whole lot more to look forward to using the Jays this year.

If Vlad, Jr. is not in this game, I have to buy the Show 20, which I did not want to. I want to buy this game every two years starting this year, damn. Beggars can't be choosers if this is true (one year behind scans).

Guys it's going to be the same as it always has been. a year behind. Acuna last year Judge the year before. Kris Bryant before that. it sucks and it sucks that the rule that Vlad has to wait 2 weeks to play because of the service time free agency rule.

he can be created of cause. what sucks the most is the Audio he won't have any it will sound like a robot when he comes out to Bat "Vlad.... (Pause) guerrero. comes up to bat.. we won't even get the JR part in the audio. that to me is much worse then not having a face scan in the game because that can be fixed by the great face guys.

Everyone in this thread saying "It can't be done!" to integrating scans to a player added to the game later is like all that believed Dutch had a plan. Just because Ramone has said in the past it is too difficult to do doesn't mean it can't be done (Or is actually difficult to do.). Will these incoming players have their scans for 19... I doubt it. But, SDS has lived on the theory of deny and make excuses for everything until they actually do it and never bring up the fact the said someone or something made it impossible to do. (Can't add more uniforms, restricted to the style guide, rain delays, year to year saves, Sounds of the Show on PS4, etc...)

It's fine to be hopeful and to wish for things that are not going to be to actually be, but there is also nothing wrong with having opinions based more on reality instead of wishful thinking.

To think that pictures taken a week ago are going to be included in a game that, at this point, is basically completed is not realistic. It takes weeks, if not months, to get the photos taken during spring training ready to be put in the game. This is why they are always added in the next year's title. It would be great if they added face scans for players who make their debuts during the season, but its not something they have ever done before. If people want to be hopeful that this is the year, that's fine. But in my humble opinion, I would put the chances of it happening at 0.01%.

I don’t think anyone has said it can’t be done.

I know a lot of people have said it won’t be done.

                          Big difference between the two.

yep that is it. we know it can be done because they did it with Hutch, he had a haircut so they added that into the game after a few weeks of release. that proves it can be done but I think that was the year he may have been on the cover? and he was close friends with the team, I bet if Bryce Harper shaved his head and his beard they would go to the effort of updating that to the game being a cover boy.

but I would be shocked that if in May Vlad Jr was added to the patch as a real player with a face scan and audio. rather then a SCEA created players. I would be floored and shocked.

FWIW, I was watching a spring training game on MLBN and I can't even remember who was playing, but the announcer was talking about how the MLB The Show guys where there that day and we scanning players and even were doing motion capture with full motion capture equipment on them.

He said they were recording their swings. Said they had been there multiple times this year so far.

Yet the other company can patch face scans no problem in their basketball game during the season. Hopefully this is something that can be improved upon.
