Cardinals place Harrison Bader on 60 Day IL

Two games into the season, the Cardinals are facing their first forced roster move, as CF Harrison Bader has been placed on the 60 Day IL after suffering a fractured leg sliding into the plate and Reds catcher Stuart Turner in the 4th inning of last night's game.

Bader was off to a good start having gone 3 for 5 with 2 walks and 3 stolen bases on the young season, but will now be out likely until the first of June.

The Cardinals haven't announced a roster move as of yet. They could go with C.J. McElroy for the short term, or long term, as the everyday centerfielder and call up Jose Adolis Garcia to fill the 5th outfielder spot. Or they could look at the free agent market to see who is available after not signing in the offseason.

Hopefully Bader's injury isn't a sign of how the health of this team is going go this 2024 season.

CB, I just have to know. is this the only thing you do? do you not watch tv/movies? or sleep or work or whatever. I know you started this run several years ago. however, considering your in 2024 already how many games do you play per day to get to this point?

Also considering you write recaps for every game you do here. may I have seen you around on Dynasty Manager forums back in the day?

Nope...I have a full time job, am a father, take care of my Dad, and live a normal life.

I don't watch much tv (aside from sports) and I'm not really a movie fan as I choose to play video games for fictional stories versus watching them.

My basement/man cave has multiple tv's so I can play video games while I watch sports at the same time.

And no, I was never a part of Dynasty Manager Forums.

It's called balance and you seem to have it. I work 2 jobs play semi-pro football and have a wife but I still find time to play daily. It takes work to be responsible but it's worth it and the time to disengage from the daily grind and play The Show is so fun and helpful. Respect man. I enjoy following your franchise and learn from you how to run mine better.

Cardinals split 4 game series with Reds

The Cardinals and Reds split their Opening Weekend 4 game series with the Cardinals winning games 1 and 2, and the Reds winning Saturday and Sunday.

After the offense got off to a hot start in the first two games, the final two would see them only score 3 runs and produce 8 hits. They struck out a total of 23 times over the final two games.

The Cardinals pitching staff wasn't much better aside from Michael Wacha as Funkhouser only lasted 5 1/3, Carlos Martinez left his game in the 5th due to an elbow injury, and Jack Flaherty who was in a groove in the series finale left at the beginning of the 6th inning due to injury. This cause the bullpen to be taxed and tired and they got lit up in the final two games.

The injury bug really hit this series as the Cardinals lost Harrison Bader for 2 months on Friday after he fractured his leg sliding into catcher Stuart Turner at home plate. He's expected back the first of June. Carlos Martinez left in the 5th inning of his start Saturday after discomfort in his elbow. He was placed on the 10 Day IL. Juan Fabregas would tear his MCL in the 6th inning rounding 2nd base and is done for the season. On Sunday, Jack Flaherty left his start in the 6th inning on Sunday due to neck stiffness. He is listed as day to day and is expected to make his next scheduled start.

4 games in and the injury bug has jumped up and bitten this Cardinal team in 3 very key spots. What roster moves the Cardinals will make in response to the injuries is unknown at this point, aside from Jose Adolis Garcia being recalled from Memphis after Bader's injury on Friday.

The Cardinals hit the road for 3 games against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Hopefully the Cardinals can get a series win, but probably more important that they stay healthy.

BREAKING: DAVID STEARNS OUT IN MILWAUKEE, NEW GM SEARCH UNDERWAY

Milwaukee, WI: Milwaukee owner Mark Attanasio announced today that President of Baseball Operations and General Manager David Stearns was relieved of his roles today, citing personal differences. "We thank David for his time as the Brewers head of Baseball Operations and wish him well in his future endeavors," Attanasio said within a statement issued today. Stearns, 34, had just recently signed a contract extension with the Brewers, giving him the role of President, a first for the Brew Crew.

While no official reason outside of differing viewpoints were given to Stearns firing, sources from within the organization have speculated that a difference in viewpoint on free agent spending lead to the firing.

Many prospective GM's have been linked to the job. Former Pirates skipper Clint Hurdle has been mentioned in conversations, with a prospective President of Baseball Operations coming in above him to help him with the transition. Atlanta AGM Perry Minasian has also been name-dropped as a potential candidate. Finally, Dominic Cannon, head of sports analytics company SportsTex, has also been linked to the role.

Brewers Hire SportsTex Head Dominic Cannon to be GM and President of Baseball Operations

Milwaukee, WI: Owner Mark Attanasio announced today that SportsTex CEO Dominic Cannon was hired to be the clubs newest GM and President of Baseball Operations today. Cannon, 39, has made a name for himself within the analytics community for developing a predictive model for MLB draft prospects, dubbed PCS%, which apparently has predicted with near 70% accuracy the highest potential outcomes for a player.

When asked what his vision for the Brewers free agency period was, Cannon stated: "With everything, it's a matter of figuring out what works best for the present and the future once it becomes relevant. I can't make any solid statements for our winter plans as it all comes down to how attempting to resign our own free agents first, and how many of them we actually take back. This isn't to say making a big splash is dependant on how much money we spend now, but it's simply a matter of weighing whether it's a proper allocation of resources to attain a certain player."

Cannon also mentioned he is not afraid to make controversial decisions in terms of who he lets go and who he brings in. Ken Rosenthal noted that with Yasmani Grandal allegedly asking for upwards of 23 million, his future with the club could be called into question.

Cardinals take 2 of 3 from Pirates

The Cardinals won their first series of the 2024 season when they took 2 out of 3 from the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Cardinals were going for the sweep on Wednesday afternoon, but couldn't conquer Jose Fernandez who shut them out in route to a 3-0 win.

The Cardinals got good offense and pitching in this series, despite the Wednesday afternoon loss. The Cardinals actually scored by driving in runs on hits instead of homeruns which is a welcome sight to see. The pitching staff was solid all 3 games, aside from Andrew Miller who continues to struggle out of the gate.

The best news of the series is that the Cardinals stayed healthy all 3 days after a rough opening 4 game set with the Reds.

The Cardinals will head back home for a weekend series with the Brewers. Dakota Hudson (in for injured Carlos Martinez), Jack Flaherty, and Drew Harrington are the scheduled starters.

Cardinals sign free agent Aaron Hicks to one year deal

The Cardinals fulfilled a need due to injuries when they signed OF Aaron Hicks to a one year deal worth $2.2M. Hicks will be a reserve for the Cardinals who are beaten up in the outfield by injuries. Harrison Bader is out until June with a fractured leg and Juan Fabregas is out for the year due to a torn MCL. The Cardinals recalled Jose Adolis Garcia from Memphis, but didn't feel comfortable with any other options and went to the free agent market to get Hicks.

Hicks is 34 years old and has been declining in both production and playing time in recent years, but his glove work and speed are still something to be desired in terms of a 4th/5th outfielder. Also being a switch hitter helps.

Hicks will join the team in St.Louis for their upcoming series with the Brewers.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

So I have a dude in AA with 3 hits in 2 ab's with RISP. I also have another player who has been in all 4 lineups for all 17 AA games and has only 17 AB's while all 8 other slots have a normal number. I sim all my minor league games. I'm not really worried because it's insignificant but has anyone else experienced something like this?20191115_190217.jpeg
