Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

So I am switching Hitting and Pitching Difficulties over to Dynamic as I can not seem to find a happy median between Veteran / All-Star / H.O.F. I want more realistic results, but not not to be shutting everybody out with my pitching, nor do I want to be absolutely pissed with with getting 3 to 4 hits every game.

So I will post wins and losses, but no scores, as I will be starting on lower levels on dynamic and do not want to appear like I am bragging I can put up 20 runs on Rookie or Veteran.

MLB THE SHOW 17 - 2017 SEASON - SPRING TRAINING - GAME 14 vs COL
    WIN

MLB THE SHOW 17 - 2017 SEASON - SPRING TRAINING - GAME 15 at COL
    WIN

Note: 3B Matt Davidson got his second trip to the mound. Matt got throught the first 2 batters in the 7th, but gave up a HOME RUN to RF Carlos Gonzalez.

I went through a period like this recently with hitting. Ultimately it was a change of my game plan for offense and having a different approach each at bat that worked for me. I am now competitive on HOF and having tons of fun.

Are you planning on playing Davidson two ways?

Yes, he will start in AA, backing up 3B Nick Senzel and 1B Kyle Waldrop and getting an inning of pitching in every 5 games or so. Or aleast that is the plan.

              A little background info...

I completely restarted my franchise and I am playing my 2017 season (Spring Training on MLBTS 17. When I start my 2017 Regular Season, I will start it up on MLBTS 18.

So Davidson has only a fastball and change up. The game does not even show his game stats at the end in game recap. So I manually track his stats with others in a spread sheet.

It is just something different. I do not think they have fixed the absence of franchise carry over stats in MLBTS 19 from earlier this year.

                  Spoiler

Sox Reach Home Stretch With A Comfortable Lead
The White Sox have just about wrapped up another playoff berth as they lead the Twins by 14 games heading into the last month of the season.

With that being said, the Sox should have every opportunity to go for their third world series victory in a row. Two in a row probably solidified this team as a dynasty of the 20's but a third would make their legacy even greater.

There has been some injuries down the stretch as Yoan Moncada has missed some time. Currently, Austin Franklin (76 OVR SP; 15-5 4.49 ERA) is out any where between 1-2 more months with a shoulder tear. Casey Gillaspie (83 OVR 1B; .279 AVG, 29 HR) went out recently with a shoulder separation and is slated to still be out 1-2 months as well.

For Franklin, 34 year old Danny Hudgins (77 OVR SP; 2-1 4.64 ERA) has made his MLB Deput and has done a pretty good job.

Gillaspie has been replaced at first base ball veteran Chris Davis who still has plenty of power in his bat as he has 19 HR in just 50 games this season.

The Sox will look to play well in September as they try to take the #1 seed away from Bostin.

                    MLB THE SHOW 17 - 2017 SEASON - SPRING TRAINING -

The REDS have been on a tear as of late, racking up WIN after WIN after WIN.
Rumors are swirling that the REDS may be stealing the opposing catcher's signs, others are saying they are taking some undetectable performancing enhancing substances or that thier new cleats are giving them some uneven advantage over the competition.

Manager Bryan Price has denied all these plus other rumors. Saying, " it is like the REDS are just that much more prepared this ST". Okay?!

Or it could be I am still working my way up through lower levels in Dynamic mode. We are on HITTING - All-Star + close to H.O.F. and BATTING - Veteran + but not quite making it to All-Star, think this where I will level out.

GAME 16 vs OAK - WIN

GAME 17 at LAD - WIN

GAME 18 vs SDP - WIN

GAME 19 at CLE - WIN

GAME 20 vs TEX - WIN

GAME 21 at SDP - WIN - This one was a close one with a score of 4 - 3.

                    Next up: at KCR

TOP 50 PROSPECTS SP Amir Garrett OVR #33, 3B Nick Senzel OVR #11 have been invited to play with the club over the next 8 games, along with LF Jesse Winker and LF Michael O'Neill (the nephew of former RED THE GREAT Paul O'Neill).

The REDS will then go back to thier original 40 MAN Roster, play the last few games of ST, then trim down before thr Regular Season starts.

                      18th March, 2020

                      Milwaukee Brewers Franchise Mode

Bumgarner, Cannon talk on franchise hopes for the 2020 season

Milwaukee, WI: With the first game of the 2020 season approaching, recently appointed GM Dominic Cannon and star free agent signing Madison Bumgarner talked to the media today about the Brewers' view on the 2020 season.

"I came here to win," Bumgarner said. "I feel that there's a very unique group of guys here with talent and when that talent clicks, we'll be the team to beat. Almost all of our players are capable of the long ball and I feel comfortable pitching behind both the in and outfield." Bumgarner, 30, surprised the market and signed with the Brewers on the first day of free agency, who tendered a 14.8 million dollar per year deal for five years. Many experts believed that he could have fetched as much as 20 million on the open market, but Bumgarner fell in love with the city during his courting process.

Dominic Cannon also approached the media to confirm his approach on this season. "All in, baby." he was quoted as saying. "We obviously have some outstanding talent in Hiura, Turang, Hautau down in our minor league system. While yes, it's wonderful to keep that pipeline, our goal this season and for every season of Madison's contract is to make the playoffs and hopefully win the World Series. I'm not afraid to give up all of them in the right deal, especially if it means acquiring that player that would push us over the edge."

Hautau, 20, was the Brewers first-round draft pick in the 2019 draft. The center fielder impressed in the fall leagues, showing plus speed and fielding, alongside wonderful pop on the bat. Many folks are comparing him to an Ian Happ type of player. He's garnered significant interest from many teams.

BREWERS 2020 SEASON: TO THE POST-DRAFT!

                        Record
                        • 32-28
                        • 2 games back of the Reds for top of the NL Central
                        • Dropped series vs the Reds (0-3) bumped us from the top.
                        • 3 games back of the wild card as well
                        • Overall: Mediocre. Should be in a WC spot but 3 close losses vs the Reds hurt that.

                        Notables
                        1. Christian Yelich: Hitting .310 on the season with 12 HR in 60 GP.
                        2. Trent Grisham: Hitting .304 with 5 HR's at 54 GP.
                        3. Ben Gamel: Hitting .310 with 2 HR's at 42 GP.
                        4. Mike Leake, Zach Davies: Entirely identical, Same number of IP, same ERA, same WHIP.
                        5. Keston Hiura: Struggling. .208 Bavg. and only 2 HR's in 226 AB's.
                        6. Mike Moustakas: Also disappointing. .238 average and 8 HR's.
                        7. Brandon Woodruff, Madison Bumgarner: Both struggling immensely. Bumgarner should return to normal, but Davies may see some more AAA time, with Ivan Nova taking his spot.
                        8. Ariel Jurado: Also struggling but has been returning to form the past few games. 4.45 ERA is far from terrible, but not good.

                        Draft
                        1. 1st round: Robert Story, a SP out of Michigan. Story very well should have been a top 10 pick, but doesn't have the highest ceiling. His floor is massive however, and he should burst into the MLB in 2 years max.
                        2. 2. RF Orlando Rodriguez: Speedy contact fielder out of the DR. A good fielder, just lacks the arm to be a center fielder.
                        3. COMP: 1B Fred Finch. Extreme contact hiter. If he gets pop a definite 40 HR candidate. Piss poor defense/speed.
                        4. 3. Andrez Vasquez: Reliable inning eater out of Minnesota, has great changeup pitches including a gnarly sweeping curve.
                        5. 4. Richard Aguilera. 2B/SS out of Cuba. Will hit for good AVG and be a servicable fielder if everything goes well.
                        6. 5. Irvin Sambol. Project pitcher who really needs velocity to have impact at the highest level.
                        7. 6. Scott Gowdy. A High-Schooler out of Minnesota, he shows very well on Cannon's pCS model. Throwing his fastball at 94 already as an 18 year old, his potential is there.

                        Other notes:
                        1. Rumors around the league have suggested that Cannon is still looking for good starting arms. Carlos Rodon (CWS) and Trevor Williams (PIT) are names that have been linked to the Cream Crew, with both being relatively cheap to acquire as well as having some years of control attached to the two. The Brewers have also been linked to RF Nomar Mazara, who shows very well on the pCS metrics. Struggling this season, the Rays are attempting to straighten out their outfield via cutting some assets loose.
                        2. The Twins, who are currently a terrible 23-40, have also been linked to the Brewers in some capacity. Alledgedly Cannon thinks the world of SP Jose Berrios, but the Twins are certainly not keen on giving him up. Another team who sits in this position is the Chicago Cubs, who are currently dead last in the NL Central and are stealthily shopping players like Kyle Hendricks and Kris Bryant.

                          Cardinals win series against Brewers

The Cardinals have won their 2nd series of the season by taking 2 out of 3 from the Brewers in St.Louis over the weekend.

The Brewers won Friday to open the series, but the Cardinals rallied back to win both Saturday and Sunday afternoon, including Drew Harrington's masterful performance on Sunday throwing 8 innings of 3 hit, 1 run ball, while striking out 14.

The Cardinals now head west to face the Mariners in Seattle and then the Giants in San Francisco.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                            Cubs 25-17 1.5 GB

                            NL West:

                            NL WC:
                            Cubs 25-17
                            Rockies 25-18

James Paxton remains by far our best pitcher with an ERA of 2.53 and a 0.82 WHIP. And he’s doing it at the right time as he’s due for FA this offseason. Age may not be on his side though as he’ll be 32 next year and that’ll obviously be a concern for any interested teams.

The Syndargaard deal has not worked out at all so far. He’s had a few very ugly outings now with a 7.92 ERA. Far from what was expected from him.

Next up, 2 games in Atlanta against the first place Braves before another 3 game set vs Boston, this time at Fenway.

                            News:
                            Reds Return To Relevance
A year after finishing 77-85, the Reds currently lead the Central at 27-16. No major new faces here as well. Votto has lead the charge playing like he’s in his prime at age 36 with a line of 386/453/725 and a 1.178 OPS. 14 HR’s, 34 RBI’s. Currently on pace to potentially win the NL MVP. The Cubs may very well pull ahead and away from Cincy at some point, but this is a fun story to watch for now.

Cardinals place C.J. McElroy on 10 Day IL

The injury bug has once again struck the Cardinals and once again its to a key piece of their outfield rotation.

C.J. McElroy was placed on the 10 Day IL for a knee injury suffered in the 7th inning of last nights game against the Mariners. McElroy is said to have cartilage damage in the knee and is expected to be out 4-6 weeks. McElroy took over the lead off spot and everyday centerfield duties when Bader went down a couple of weeks ago.

The Cardinals will, for the moment, start Aaron Hicks in center and will either have him hit leadoff or move Kolten Wong from his staple 8th spot in the lineup to lead off.

Oscar Mercado was recalled from Memphis to fulfill the open 25 man roster spot.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

It's not going to come easy. But it is interesting. Let's see what the next man up can do.
