Along time since I updated, but Season 4 MOM Texas Rangers Update

What a turn around. First 3 seasons saw us win 67, 68, and 69 games, but this year with 18 games remaining we are 80-64 and sit a game and a half out of the division race. We do however hold the number 1 wild card spot. Its been a long journey but our team seems ready for the finish

Lineup

C- Cameron Rupp- 250 hitter with 10 HR's
1B- Eric Hosmer- Solid hitter with 290 AVG and 22 HR's. Got him in a Trade Deadline deal this year
2b- Roughned Odor- Missed almost half the season with broken leg but is still hitting almost 300 with 18HR's
SS- Elvis Andrus- 260 Hitter. Hes been Ok
3B- Anthony Rendon- Hitting 280 with 22 HR's
LF- Elieser Alvaraz- Ranger farm hand is playing for the injured Jose Pirela
CF- Javier Baez- Wow what a pick up. Offseason FA signing hes hitting 305 with 35 HR's.
RF- Nomar Mazara- Terrible in years 2 and 3 hes turned it way up hitting 300 with 31 HR's
DH- Patrick Wisdom- 260 Hitter with 18 HR's

Pitching

1. Mike Minor- Sub 3 ERA
2. Tyler Skaggs- Solid Year

The big story with my pitchers this year is the offseason signing of Chris Devinski- ERA is 1.12 and he has a league leading 50 Saves

Love this team. Played allot of games and I'm hoping we finish strong. In the middle of a big series with Division Leading Oakland

Five days to go until the Aug. 31 trade deadline and the deadline to set the postseason roster. I'm trying to find at least one more lefty for the bullpen to go along with Biddle and Venters. It's going to be an interesting five days as I monitor Gwinnett, Kansas City and Colorado. The candidates:

A.J. Minter
79 OVR (morale adjusted)
3-5, 5.28 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and eight saves in Atlanta
0-0, 13.50 ERA and 3.00 WHIP at Gwinnett
Minter was dominant early, but struggled after losing his closer's job to Kimbrel. He was finally demoted a few days ago. He gave up two runs in a third of an inning in his AAA debut, but pitched a clean inning his second time out.

Sean Newcomb
74 OVR
7-3, 5.77 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and one save in Atlanta
3-3, 5.51 ERA, 1.84 WHIP in Gwinnett
Newcomb made 12 starts for the Braves before being demoted to the bullpen. He struggled there and was sent to Gwinnett. In the Stripers rotation, his struggles have continued. He lasted just 4.1 innings in his last start. His next start is scheduled for the 31st, so he'll get one last chance at making an impression. But right now, it's not looking good.

Max Fried
71 OVR
11-3, 5.27 ERA, 1.42 WHIP in Atlanta
1-2, 4.87 ERA, 1.87 WHIP in Gwinnett
Fried made 22 starts for the Braves before being demoted after Shelby Miller was acquired July 31. Fried did not take the demotion well, dropping four OVR points. He too gets one more start to try to make a case for being added to the postseason roster.

Jake Diekman
78 OVR
1-2, 5.46 ERA, 1.75 WHIP in Kansas City
Diekman was a trade target, but had a lousy appearance his last time out, pushing his ERA over 5. The Royals are looking for a C-level SP prospect for the free-agent to be. We'd take on the rest of his $2.7M contract for this season.

Chris Rusin
74 OVR
2-2, 3.27 ERA, 1.15 WHIP in Colorado
Rusin flew under our radar until recently. He has good numbers, especially for Colorado. He has more than 40 appearances and 90 IP for the Rockies. He's making $1.7M this year and is arbitration-eligible for one more season. The Rockies want a few C-level prospects and have indicated they may be willing to take the remainder of Josh Tomlin's $1.3M salary back to even out the money a bit. Tomlin is a FA after the season, so they wouldn't be on the hook for anything past this season.

These are some of my Braves Team stats before facing the lowly Padres.

It turn out they were so lowly. They're one win from a four game sweep against me.

I came into the 4 game series, winner's of 7 in a row, record of 20-8. Now I'm 20-11 & a 3 game losing streak. One of the top 3 teams in MLB.

2024 White Sox Franchise - Mid June

Breaking news out of Chicago. White Sox DH Yoenis Cespedes dislocates shoulder after game 1 of a 2 game series against the crosstown rival Cubs. Team doctors say he will be out little over 2 months.

With Cespedes going to the 60 Day IL, the Sox have called up their top prospect RF Javier Estrada to take over as the teams DH.

Estrada made his MLB Debut in Game 2 of the Cubs series going 2-4 with a solo homer in his second AB and adding a single in his 4th and final AB in the Sox 2-1 victory over the Cubs.

Sox have also sent C Seby Zavala and RF Ryan Cordell down to Charlotte and recalled C Omar Narvaez and recalled CF Leody Taveras in separate moves.

The Draft was nothing to be excited for this year as the best player we drafted was a 58 OVR 72 POT 1B Abraham Gomez in the 2nd round.

Another question since it’s been awhile since I’ve made it this far in Franchise.

In the game, a player has to be on the 25-man roster on Sept. 1 to be eligible for the postseason roster, correct? It’s not enough to be on the 40-man roster?

I'm not 100% certain about the game, but in real life any player who is on the 40 man roster or 60 day injured list as of 11:59 p.m. ET on Aug. 31 is eligible for the postseason.

American League tops National League in mid-summer classic

The American League has won the 94th All Star game defeating the National League 7-3 in Oracle Park.

The National League jumped out in the 1st inning off Jacob DeGrom when Forrest Wall doubled home a run to make it 1-0. The AL quickly tied it up in the bottom of the first when Aaron Judge launched a mammoth 485ft homerun to left center field.

The game would remain 1-1 until the 5th when the American League put up 4 runs, all charged to Kyle Freeland. Francisco Lindor doubled home three runs and then Joey Gallo singled him home two batters later. The AL would tack on 2 more runs in the 8th when Eddie Casilla launched a 2 run blast that just barely cleared the wall. The National League would score 2 in the bottom of the 9th when Nick Castellanos hit a shot into the McCovey Cove to make the final score 7-3.

The regular season resumes Thursday night with the Mariners and A's playing. All teams are back on the diamond on Friday.

MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Taking 3 out 4 of games against the Cardinals (20-16) on the road gets May 2020 going in the right direction. Dodgers (25-10) take game 3 by a score of 7-2 and drop game 4, 4-8. The Dodgers out scored the the red birds by a total of 28 to 11 over the 4 game stretch.

Ross Stripling had his worst performance of the season in game 4, being hammered for 6 runs in 5.1 innings of work.

The Dodgers will stay on the road traveling to San Francisco to take on the hated Giants (16-20) in a 4 game series.

Cardinals acquire Tim Lincecum from Diamondbacks

The Cardinals aren't waiting around to bolster their rotation as they look to make a run in the 2nd half of the season to get back to the playoffs.

The Cardinals have acquired SP Tim Lincecum from the Diamondbacks in exchange for IF Greg Garcia and C Chris Chinea.

The 37 year old Lincecum is 8-2 with an 2.82 ERA for the Diamondbacks which is the 4th best ERA in the National League. The D'Backs signed Lincecum to a 1 year deal in the off-season to help anchor a younger rotation and help move the D'Backs to the point of being playoff contenders. The move wasn't too far off as the D'Backs are currently just 7 games out of the wildcard, but they are 3 games under .500 and are just 2-8 in their last 10 games.

The Cardinals acquisition of Lincecum is yet another attempt to steady a starting rotation that has been plagued by injuries and the constant changing of pitchers to try to survive the missed starts due to the injuries. The Cardinals saw Carlos Martinez miss much of the 1st half of the season due to a broken wrist. Both Jack Flaherty and Michael Wacha are currently on the IL due to injuries. Flaherty is on his 3rd stint on the IL this season this time due to a pulled hamstring. Michael Wacha is expected back around the end of July/first part of August due to a shoulder injury.

Rookie Kyle Funkhouser has been the most reliable pitcher in the rotation this year, but the Cardinals will need more than just Funkhouser if they want to return to the postseason. The Cardinals claimed Felix Hernandez off waivers from the A's earlier this year, but after 2 starts, waived Hernandez themselves who is now out of baseball and apparently retired. They have tried Drew Harrington and Austin Gomber, both of whom have shown flashes of brilliance, but neither has been consistent enough to make the staff feel comfortable. Junior Fernandez got a shot with the latest round of injuries, but he struggled in his only start.

When healthy the Cardinals rotation will consist of:

Michael Wacha
Carlos Martinez
Jack Flaherty
Tim Lincecum
Kyle Funkhouser

The Diamondbacks getting Garcia and Chinea may seem surprising as neither are top level prospects, but the D'Backs have plenty of top level prospects that are either currently on the major league roster or on the cusp. They also have one of the deepest farm systems in baseball. What was needed for them are solid MLB ready ball players who can help the youngsters for the remainder of this year and provide veteran depth going into the 2024 season.

The Cardinals are expected to have Lincecum start their 2nd half opener on Friday against the Giants in Oracle Park.

Yeah, real life is the 40-man (and IL), but I'm pretty sure in the game it's limited to the 25-man roster (and IL). That's been a complaint in the past and I don't think it's been updated in game yet.

Cardinals select Jose Adolis Garcia contract from Memphis

The Cardinals have selected OF Jose Adolis Garcia's contract from Memphis and added him to the active roster today. The move comes a day after the Cardinals acquired Tim Lincecum from the Diamondbacks. With Greg Garcia going in return the Cardinals had a bench spot open on the active roster.

Garcia is hitting .323 with 20 homeruns and 79 RBI's at Memphis. He will be the 2nd bench outfielder along with C.J. McElroy.

Yeah, real life is the 40-man (and IL), but I'm pretty sure in the game it's limited to the 25-man roster (and IL). That's been a complaint in the past and I don't think it's been updated in game yet.

This year it hasn't been much of a problem since the minor league schedules primarily conclude prior to August 31, so the roster expands to 40 before September anyway. But if you do run into this problem, a thing I do is sim all of the games on August 31 (including all Triple-A and Double-A games), then call up the players you want on the playoff roster. Then you sim the date, and on September 1, you send down those guys who you called up, and then they should be playoff eligible. It definitely sucks if you're trying to save option years on certain guys, but there's really no other way.

Yankees To Face Oakland A’s in ALCS

In an upset, the 95-67 A’s have defeated the 100-62 Cleveland Indians 3-1 in the ALDS. After dropping game 1 3-1 in Cleveland they would go on to stun the Indians by winning 3 straight by scores of 4-1, 6-5, and 2-1.

ALCS Preview: Yankees Vs A’s
On paper, the A’s should be outclassed in every way. Their bullpen of Treinen, Buchter, Hendriks, Dull, Soria, Trivino, and Petit can rival ours but we definitely have an edge there. Their top 2 of Sean Manaea and Alex Wood can also match up with Sevy and MadBum but you have to expect Paxton and Kuechel to outpitch Andrew Triggs and Daniel Mengdon. On offense, they aren’t even close. We feature a stacked lineup 1-9 while after Semien, Piscotty, Chapman, Davis, and Olson, their lineup gets very weak 6-9.

Overall it should be a much easier matchup then Cleveland would’ve been. What may give Oakland a chance to be a true threat here is we do head into the series with a pretty messed up and out of order rotation thanks to Boston. This series begins only a day after we had to use both Sevy and Bumgarner.

NLCS Preview: Nationals Vs Phillies
After knocking off a Cubs team loaded with talent 3-2, the Nationals will meet the Phillies in the NLCS. NL MVP Bryce Harper taking on his former team. The Nats 3 headed monster of Scherzer, Strasburg, and Corbin give them a huge advantage. Their obvious weak spot is the bullpen which may be their downfall again.

Shohei Ohtani and day games in Angels stadium can go straight to well in the words of Slayer... south of heaven!!!!! I was shut out for all but one inning. my first baserunner didn't appear until I think the sixth or seventh inning.

2019 Season Preview

After a dismal season in 2018 that saw the Tigers lose 109 games, changes had to be made. Victor Martinez retired, giving the team some leeway in the financial department, but they were still stick with the contracts of Miguel Cabrera and Jordan Zimmerman. Thankfully Cabrera showed that he can still be a force at the plate, but Zimmerman was just bad on the mound.

Last year's trade deadline didn't bring much to the farm system, just one prospect in the team's top twenty, and three more between 25-30. The 2018 Amateur Draft brought three top ten prospects to the team in OF Brett Perez and IF's Odell Cooley and Fernando Becerra. C Jake Rogers and pitchers Franklin Perez, Alex Faedo, Matt Manning and Spencer Turnbull took great strides during the season and can threaten to take spots this year. Tigers management are preaching patience, however; they don't want to stunt the development of the new core coming up.

Veteran players were signed on short, cheap contracts to round out the major league team in the off-season and give them a chance to fight, but expect many young players to make their debut at some time this season.

Spring Training same the Tigers go 10-19. Not too bad, but not great. Sticking with developing during the season in the minors, none of the young up-and-coming stars made the roster, though a case could have been made for catcher Jake Rogers, pitchers Spencer Turnbull and Kyle Funkhouser, and outfielder Christian Stewart. But all four will spend time in the minors, at least to begin the season.

There was one big move made at the end of Spring Training. The New York Mets tried to sneak RHP Zack Wheeler down to the minors, placing him on waivers, which Detroit instantly put a claim in on the 28-year old.

After spring training, MLB.COM revealed their top 50 prospects in baseball. The Detroit Tigers headlined the list with FIVE players in the top 50, including NUMBER ONE prospect, OF Brett Perez, the first overall selection in the 2018 draft. Also on the list was RHP Franklin Perez at 23, RHP Alex Faedo at 27, RHP Matt Manning at 43, and RHP Spencer Turnbull at 47.

The Tigers open the 2019 season on March 28th on the road against Toronto.
