Might be good to have a consistent vet with the young roster I have.

I did the same! Couldn't help myself, I really like my franchise but kept thinking of the new rosters. It was a tough decision, the rosters are really good! So hopefully no one minds if I start posting my new Cubs Franchise.

I’m going to start over also and play every game with my LA Dodgers.

Not sure if the workarounds thread is still relevant now or if most things were fixed in the last updates.. It would be a pain to make spring training subs every game for the cpu and have to play the first inning of the first game just to not have a first homerun pop up for every home run.

I really wish you could import players into an existing franchise haha. I'm 66 games into my season right now, haven't had any injuries yet with the major squad but riddled with them in the minors. Anyone else see this?

With spring training behind us it's time for the regular season to start as the Cubs travel to the lone star state to take on the Texas Rangers. The Cubs didn't make a big splash in the FA market over the winter, they signed Daniel Descalso and Brad Brach along with some other bullpen help.Money seemed to be an issue according to team owner Tom Ricketts. It will be Theo's job to lock up the core so the Cubs can be competitive for years to come.

With that said, we got word that the Cubs have indeed locked up one of the core players, Catcher Willson Contreras just signed a 6 year extension worth 64.5 million. Other news out of spring training, Yu Darvish will miss 3-4 weeks with a torn finger ligament. Alec Mills will take his spot in the rotation.

Let's hope the Cubs can get off to a fast start as the NL Central seems to be loaded with talent this year, actually, the whole National League looks tough! Should be a fun season, Play Ball!

            Start of Season - 2019

The 2019 season is finally here. The 2018 season ended with 100+ losses for the first time since 2006. There were some bright spots though. Adalberto Mondesi showed signs of the player the organization had hoped he would become. Stealing 32 bases and hitting 14 HR in only 75 games. Rule 5 pick Brad Keller started the year in the pen before moving to the rotation and putting up a 3.08 ERA in 140 IP. Ryan O'Hearn was called up in the 2nd half and put up a .950 OPS with 12 HR in 44 games. And finally Whit Merrifield. Led the majors in Hits and SB solidifying himself as one of the top 2nd basemen in the league.

Mondesi, Alex Gordon, Danny Duffy, and Salvador Perez are the only guys still on the team from the 2015 World Series. Salvy will miss all of the 2019 season after undergoing Tommy John Surgery. Duffy will start the season on IL. Expected to be back in late April. Alex Gordon enters the last year of his contract. And with his recent performance could be looking at the last year of his career.

Its not hard to see the future in KC. A short 3 and a half hour drive down I-49 will take you to Springdale, Arkansas. Home of the North West Arkansas Naturals and our AA team. There you will find 3 of our top 5 prospects. 5 of our top 10. And 9 of our top 15. Hopefully, we can follow the path we did back in the late 2000's early 2010's. Keep the young guys together. Win some championships in the minors and then do the same in the Majors.

            Spoiler

I don't think we will lose 100+ games again. But I wouldn't be surprised if we did. I believe we will finish somewhere around 70 wins But the only goal is for the young guys to keep getting better.

Plan is to trigger a rebuild this year if we aren't contending, or at the start of the offseason of year one if we are.

My plan is to definitely build around Odor & Gallo. Mazara and Guzman are up in the air (Mazara mostly because his batting stance distracts me when hitting with him). Anyone else I should consider for the long haul?

Love reading all the updates on all your franchises... any tips on how to get thru a rebuilding like season? Do you guys play full games a lot or jump in thru the quick manage most games? I want to be a part of it still but not put too much time into a lost season that is more based on trades and developing since my goal is tk start comprting in a year or two.

I mentioned earlier but I started my season with the Mariners and have an idea of my future assuming top prospects pan out but not winning yet this year. (Wish Vogelbach's stats were as good as he is now).

                  Thanks for any help!

I’ve played a rebuilding franchise the past two years. It kind of depends on the experience you want ... if you want true-to-life results and transactions (which I prefer) then it will definitely require some patience with a losing season or two .... or three or four depending on how your prospects develop.

If you’re not as much of a stickler for realism you can turn a team around fairly quickly. There are plenty of free agents this year that can be signed from day 1 of spring training, and the CPU is not very intuitive in its trade logic which can be easy to take advantage of at times.

Also I always do my own re-rates before I start my franchise. Certain guys are over/under rated based on their attributes, particularly the ones that were September call ups the previous year. On the stock rosters you will see plenty of real-life relief pitchers for example with overall ratings in the 50’s, because their previous season stats consist of a 13.00 ERA in 10 innings pitched. In reality, most of these guys are coming off very strong seasons in AAA and are on the cusp of making the majors for good. It doesn’t make sense that they’d be the lowest rated players in your entire organization, so I adjust them accordingly.

How many games you play vs sim vs quick manage is personal preference. I play one then quick manage 5. Took a lot of experimenting but thats what keeps me engaged.

Sorry, new to this so not sure how to reply to a particular person since Post Reply only goes to the thread... anyways thanks for the help on that. Quick manage is pretty fun to me so I am playing a full game once a week or so too.

I didnt realize that about the relievers but I did think some were low. I am like you and like the realism with the rebuild. Dont mind the grind! The journey is just as fun.

Update On The Detroit Tigers Franchise-2019 Season:

After struggling early on with a 1-8 start to the season, we have managed to turn things around to end the month of April with a 12-18 record. We had some surprise victories over the month, with upsets against the Indians, Red Sox and most recently a 5-3 victory over the Phillies.

During the month of April we saw some brilliant individual performances, most notable of those, were the following players:

                        - Miguel Cabrera (1B): After struggling early on, we have seen Miggy go on a 22 game hitting streak where he has lifted his average to .330 with 5 home runs and 21 RBI.

                        - Michael Fulmer (SP): As expected, Fulmer has been one of the teams most consistent pitchers and to this date has been credited with a 3-1 record . Throughout a total of 40.1 innings pitched he has tallied 28 strikeouts with an ERA of 2.23 and a WHIP of 1.26.

                        - Kyle Funkhouser (SP): After struggling in his first appearance in the Majors, he has quickly managed to turn things around. Funkhouser has 1 win to his name on the season thus far. Through 28.1 innings pitched, Funkhouser has managed a total of 24 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.18 and a WHIP of just 1.09.

                        - Joe Jimenez (CP): Lastly we have Joe Jimenez who has excelled in the lineup as our closing pitcher. Jimenez has been credited with 7 saves on the season and has pitched 10.2 innings on the season with 8 strikeouts, an ERA of 4.22 and a WHIP of 1.59.

As mentioned previously, the Tigers 2019 season is largely to focus on the development of our players and building a contender for the future. With that been said, here's a look at some of the players in the minors that have impressed on the season so far.

Firstly lets take a look at some of our prospects in the Double-A:

                        - Daz Cameron (CF): Through 84 At-Bats, Cameron has boasted an average of .286 with one homer on the season and a total of 10 RBI.

                        - Parker Meadows (CF): Meadows is only 19 years of age entering the season and it's safe to say, the future looks bright. On the season, Meadows has a batting average of .329 with 4 home runs and 11 RBI.

                        - Joey Morgan (C): Morgan has been nothing short of fantastic on the season. Boasting an average of .377 from 61 at bats. This has seen Morgan tally 2 homers and 6 RBI along the way.

                        - Casey Mize (SP): Mize is without a doubt the number one prospect in the organisation and early on we have seen signs of what could be in store for the future. Throughout the 5 games he has started he holds a 4-0 record with a total of 33.3 innings pitched, a staggering 38 strikeouts, which is accompanied by a 0.82 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP.

Lastly, let's take a quick look at the standouts in the Triple-A:

                        - Kade Scivicque (C): Scivicque has easily been one of the brightest spots in our line-up at the Triple-A level. He has shown great durability on the season and leads the team with a total of 25 games played and a 101 at bats. To go along with this, he holds a batting average of .307 and leads the team with 3 home runs and 9 RBI on the season.

                        - Brandon Dixon (1B): Dixon has been a consistent player throughout the season and has shown a lot of growth from his debut season just a year ago. Dixon's stats stand at an average of .284 with one home run and 9 RBI to date.

                        - Cam Gibson (LF): Gibson has a bright future ahead of him if he can avoid injuries along the way. Unfortunately he hasn't shown that durability this season with only 14 appearances on the year. Despite that, he has managed to hit his way to an impressive batting average which sits at .380 on the season. Whilst he hasn't displayed the power to hit any home runs on the season, he has still managed 6 RBI so far.

                        - Alex Faedo (SP): Faedo is one of top prospects in our farm at present and has shown exactly why that is. Through 5 games, he holds a 2-0 record with a total of 34 innings pitched with an impressive 36 strikeouts to his name. Faedo currently holds an ERA of 2.38 and a WHIP of 1.21.

Whilst things haven't always been pretty, we have managed to turn things around from the begging of the season and look forward to seeing our prospects continue to develop as the year goes on.

Im In 2024 of my carryover franchise. I went ahead and simmed ahead and it let me sim thru 2027. So I don’t think it’s a “2024” bug.

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

                              June 7, 2019

The team continues to flounder, as we get swept in an interleague series at home by the Giants then drop 2 of 3 in a road series in Texas against the Rangers to bring our record to a miserable 16-48. Andrew Cashner is even worse than he was last year if that’s possible - through 13 starts he is 1-8 with a 6.07 ERA, and has allowed 18 HR in 69.2 IP. The sad part is he will likely ride the season out in the rotation, as nearly all of my AAA pitchers that have been given a chance this season have been even worse. Since they still have some upside, they’ll stay in AAA where they can hopefully pitch well and improve instead of getting pounded in the majors when they are clearly not ready. Which leaves Cashner as an unfortunate placeholder.

Lefty John Means has been my only pleasant exception to that trend, winning his last two starts. He took a no-hitter into the 5th in Texas, and took the shutout into the 9th before yielding to the pen. We get Dylan Bundy back from the IL next week - he has been out 5 weeks with a fractured bone in his pitching hand.

                              2019 Draft Recap

I’m really happy with my first draft class. Here are the picks:

                              Round 1 (#1 Overall) - RHP Joe McGreal (Canada) Age 21, 6’5” 215

I singled out McGreal fairly early in my scouting process as a potential #1 pick. He features a 4-seamer that averages 94 mph, supplemented with a 2-seamer, a change up, and a power slider. He is a workhorse starter that is fairly advanced and should move quickly through the minors. If he can avoid getting into trouble with walking batters, he could reach his ceiling as a bulldog #1 starter that routinely posts 200-inning seasons. MLB comp is Jake Arrieta.

                              Round 2 - OF Tim Andersen (Utah) Age 19, 6’2” 202

I had contemplated taking Andersen with the first pick, so needless to say I quickly snatched him up when I saw he was still available to kick off the second round. He is extremely raw, but has plus-plus speed and projects for plus-plus power. He likely will not be more than an average defender or hitter, but the combination of power and speed make for a special player. He will need several years in the minors, but his ceiling is that of a 30/30 player and perennial all-star in the vein of prime-career Curtis Granderson.

Competitive Balance Round B - RHP Josh Navarro (California) Age 21, 6’0” 201

Navarro has all the makings of a future closer, except for dominant stuff. His fastball sits at 91 mph, and his change and slider are just average. What he lacks in a power arsenal he makes up for with an ice-cold clutch gene and a propensity to miss bats and limit baserunners. He is polished enough to make a run at a big-league callup in mid-2020. While his lack of a power repertoire may prevent him from becoming a truly elite closer, he should be good enough to pitch in leverage situations fairly quickly.

                              Round 3 - SS Michael Charles (Ohio) Age 19, 6’0” 200

Charles is fairly advanced for a teenager, but is also close to maxed out. His calling card is his plus-plus speed and slightly above average arm, with his other tools rating average or below. He projects as a .260 hitter with occasional pop, who can steal bases and play a passable shortstop. At worst he could be a deadly pinch runner / utility infielder, or starter on a second-tier team.

                              Round 4 - 3B Emil Ramirez (Dominican Republic) Age 20, 6’4” 187

Like Charles, Ramirez is advanced for his age but lacks projection. He has the arm for third base, and could be a .260-.270 hitter with 15 home run pop. With Drew Jackson and Ryan Mountcastle ahead of him, he projects more as organizational depth for the time being.

                              Round 5 - C Eric Perez (Arkansas) Age 21, 6’5” 213

Perez has an average bat, but is extremely raw and doesn’t have the defensive tools to be a backup catcher. He projects as organizational depth.

                              Round 6 - RHP Jimmy French (Netherlands) Age 20, 6’1” 197

The second reliever selected in the draft by Baltimore, French has a 4-pitch mix and keeps the ball on the ground. He projects as a middle reliever after a few years in the minors.

Don’t know if this has already been addressed but is anyone having issues that your lineup continues to have a pitcher as your DH when the game starts even when you set a position player as your DH in your lineups in CPU roster control? Causing major issues when you have more than 1 team for franchise.
