Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

The 2022 White Sox are through April atop the AL Central.

Offensively we are currently 2nd in average in the MLB, with a .310 average. Unfortunately, not having as much luck with Homers as we are in a 3 way tie for last in baseball with only 16. As a result we are not scoring as much as we would like still only 13th in runs scored with 113.

Pitching has what has got us on top of the the AL Central. Dominating hitters to a MLB best 2.51 ERA and 65 runs allowed.

    Current AL Central Standings below.

+48 in run diff after a month is pretty good. Keep that up for the whole year and you're trending to damn near a +300 which is pretty nuts. Looks like you've got the makings of an all-time season going here.

Now that full minors 19 had officially dropped its time to start my 2019 Chicago Cubs franchise.

There are alot of question Mark's leading into spring training. Alot of young pitching prospects will get a good look. Also there is alot of young position players who will get alot of at bats this spring. No spot on the bench is granted besides one for veteran Ben Zobrist. Will a young and upcoming pitcher or position player have a break out spring and force manager Joe Maddon to make a tuff decision? Stay tuned as we go through spring training.

        Starting pitchers getting some looks:
        Brailyn Maquez
        Oscar De La Cruz
        Alberto Alvarez (Adbert Alzolay)
        Duane Underwood

I chance some of the names of some prospects so I can have the announcers say real names in the game.

I will be playing every pitch and every game. Also I will have universal DH as that is where the MLB is heading in the future. I will also be playing with Mike Lowe's sliders

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

The O’s limp into May with an MLB-worst 15-44 record after dropping a road series to the Rockies and a homestand to Detroit, both series 2-1. We finally get Richie Martin back from the IL and hope he can be as hot as he was before he got hurt. Fellow rookie and Rule 5 pick Drew Jackson continues to be incredibly streaky, but flashes tantalizing potential at times as well. After winning AL rookie of the month in April, he slogged through May in a dreadful slump before he finally broke out again in Colorado, ripping a triple and a 469 ft bomb to left center in the same game. He followed that performance with 3 stolen bases the next day. His glove and reactions in the infield still need some work, but he makes up for it with plus-plus arm strength. With top prospect Ryan Mountcastle playing first base full time in Norfolk, Jackson is positioning himself as the third baseman of the present and future. He and Martin will likely push Vlad Jr. for Rookie of the Year as the season moves along.

We bring Yefry Ramirez back from AAA after he put together a string of dominant starts for the Tides. Hopefully his second crack at major league hitters this season is more promising. Lefty Josh Rogers heads back to the farm after failing to record a win in 7 starts.

Chris Davis recorded a .275 average in May with 6 home runs. How bout that!

The draft is 4 days away - we’ve zeroed in on two college pitchers with the #1 pick.

The Yankees are running away with the East, already 10.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Rays with a ridiculous 45-13 record. They are favored to win the pennant, as are the Dodgers in the NL with an even better 46-12 record on June 1st. The Tigers surprisingly lead the AL Central with a 28-29 record.

            MountUrCastle's Seattle Mariners Franchise

The way I will be doing this franchise mode is I will be progressing through the game, taking notes, and then writing the franchise up here. This allows me to speed through seasons and actually make decent progression, especially in the 1st season as I'm currently a year behind everyone else . So, for timing purposes, monthly updates will be done in note format, with bigger updates just focusing in on the draft, trade deadline, and other big events that occur throughout the year. The first season also has the most scattered games played, as I'm more focused on both getting a direction for the franchise and getting into 2019. When we're finally in 2019, one game will be played, and then 5 will be simmed.

            So, time to get started.
            ---

            April 2018

-14-14, good enough for 4th in the division and 10th overall in the conference

            Standouts:
-Marco Gonzales and Adam Warren shut out the Twins on April 7th, 2018
-Blew out the Oakland A’s 11-4 on the back of Jean Segura’s 5 RBI, 3 Hit performance on April 13th, 2018
-Absolutely destroyed the Astros 16-3 via a Chris Herrmann 7 RBI monster performance on April 19th, 2018
-Another shutout, this time of the Cleveland Indians via a Wade LeBlanc and Erasmo Ramirez tag team on April 23rd, 2018

            May

27-29, putting us 4th in the division and 8th overall in the conference

            Standouts:
-Dismantled the Angels 13-0 on May 5th, featuring a Ryon Healy 4 RBI game
-Then immediately got bounced by the Angels 12-4 a day later with Felix Hernandez getting pulled in the second after giving up 9 runs
-Got trounced by the Athletics 14-2 on May 23rd, 2018
-Thankfully the bats come alive a few days later on May 25th with a 10-1 win against the Twins featuring a balanced effort from the team.

With the way things have gone over the past 2 months, it's very difficult to tell what direction would be best for this team. Despite being in 4th they're a merely 4 games out of 1st with a lot of the season left to play, and committing to a rebuild in the season would require a lot of roster shake-up. But maybe that's what's required?

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

We took the series against the Reds by winning the rubber match thanks to a Tulowitzki go ahead homer in the 9th to break a 2-2 tie. We turned around and lost our home opener to the Brewers as again our pitching staff let us down. For the 2nd start in a row, Mike Leake was absolutely destroyed. The Cardinals are kicking around the idea of letting Leake go, as he didn't pitch well during the spring.

The injury bug has also struck the Cardinals parent club for the first time this year as Carson Kelly (pulled muscle in back) and Adam Cimber (strained oblique) were both placed on the 10 Day IL. Zack Burdi and Andrew Knizer were recalled from Memphis to fill the roles.

The Cardinals have 2 more against the Brewers before Houston comes to town. Hopefully the Cardinals next 10 games will be better than .500 which has been the case for the first 10.

When you’re told your pitcher is out of gas............pay attention.

Toussaint had been struggling and I over used pressing on the pitch button to get some umpf behind his fastball. At 4.2 he was about out of gas (9 hits, a walk), so Puig smacked one out....I was warned, didn’t listen and Peraza sent the next pitch deep into the stands. I should be fired!

I managed 4 doubles out of my 6 hits, but struck out 11 times, ugh. Lost 3-2.

Second game 3 more doubles and a homer from Dan Enfield, but only 2 runs. Puig and Peraza went deep again off the ancient one, Colon and his 5.91 era.
Lost 6-2. Brought up Acuna after sending him down for a day. Went 0-4 with 2 Ks dropping his average to .216.

If I get fired....who will press the keys on my controller? Bueller, Bueller? Now sitting at 11-13, 3 behind the Nats, 2.5 behind the Phils.

Excuse me while I release Colon.

Franchise is way more fun with these new minor league rosters. I just started my Mariners franchise and first year will be a struggle (6-12 so far) but managed to trade (Once Highly regarded) and AAA SS JP Crawford for the Marlins top pitching prospect Sixto Sanchez. Seems like a great deal to me?! With him, Justus Sheffield, and Justin Dunn the rotation future is bright, but for now its all about that grind working thru a re-tooling of a season!

I was hoping to add Pete Alonso but they are asking for my top young prospect Jared Kelenic and a couple average players with him. Not sure I can pull the trigger or not on that deal.

Good luck to all as you grind it out!

We lost 2 out of 3 in the series against the Brewers. Carlos Martinez was able to pitch us to a victory in game 3 to avoid the sweep. Martinez is 3-0 this young season.

We are currently 6-6, 1 1/2 games behind the Pirates and Reds for the lead. The Central Division standings thus far:

                        Pirates 8-5
                        Reds 8-5
                        Cubs 7-6 1 GB
                        Brewers 6-6 1.5 GB
                        Cardinals 6-6 1.5 GB

We welcome that Astros to town for a 3 game weekend series. After this it's a quick 3 game road trip to Atlanta before we are back home for a 6 game homestand.

I said I wouldn’t start over when the OSFM rosters dropped but I caved! I signed Gattis again as I did in my initial franchise. Couldn’t get Gomez though as he wasn’t placed on waivers. Took a shot on an expensive vet though in Martin Prado. He was placed on optional waivers by Miami and I figure he could platoon and backup all positions for me. Might be good to have a consistent vet with the young roster I have.

Cardinals make first trade of the season

The Cardinals have made their first trade of the season, which is surprising being we are only a few weeks into the season.

The Cardinals have traded Kike Hernandez and Edmundo Sosa to the A's for Yairo Munoz. This trade was nothing more than fit for both teams. Munoz was blocked at the 3rd base position as well as shortstop position in Oakland. He can also play second, but he was seemingly blocked there as well. Kike Hernandez is most likely being dealt as the casualty to the Matt Carpenter re-acquisition. The Cardinals were going to have to make a roster decision when they decided to call Carpenter back up to St Louis, but they went ahead and did this now, with Munoz being made available by the A's. Edmundo Sosa was packaged in as the A's wanted him first and foremost, but secondly he just hasn't blossomed in St.Louis as the organization had hoped. In Oakland he'll get a shot primarily at first base and second base to maintain on a 25 man roster. With Hernandez, the A's get a veteran utility man who will essentially serve the role that Munoz did. While much more expensive and non-controllable like Munoz, Hernandez will bring veteran leadership to a younger team, that will look to repeat as World Series Champions.

Yairo Munoz will most likely move to Memphis once the Cardinals do recall Carpenter, but will be the top infield target to be recalled should a need arise. At Memphis, Munoz could very well replace Drew Ellis at 3rd base, as Ellis isn't making the transition to the AAA level very well.

This trade also gets $5M off the budget in Kike's contract. Sosa and Munoz were an even money trade, or extremely close to it.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
