I only play as my fav team (Arizona) when they are lower rated, I usually pick a rebuilding team or a team I live near (previously San Diego, now Baltimore/Nationals)

Right now I’m leaning towards Baltimore, but waiting to check out OSFM.

Some teams I always look at are teams that have yet to win a WS

We won our season opener for the 4th straight year beating the Mariners 7-3. We smacked 4 homeruns with 2 from Patrick Wisdom, while driving in 4 runs on a 3 for 4 day. Juan Fabregas and Kike Hernandez delivered the other long balls. Michael Wacha was solid in 6 innings, allowing 2 runs (both solo homeruns) on 4 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 2.

Adam Cimber pitched two solid innings giving up a solo homerun to Josh Stowers after Freddie Ferguson refused to strike Stowers out on two pitches in the zone. Roberto Osuna pitched the 9th giving up a double to DJ Peterson, but battling back to strike out Tyler O'Neill and then getting Maikel Franco and Evan White to hit into routine ground outs.

The game featured 7 total homeruns as the wind was whipping in Safeco blowing out to left field at 13mph. Anything that you got up in that stream was going out of the park.

Next up is game 2 as Carlos Martinez will square off against James Bermundo.

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

We finish the month of April 6-25, worst in MLB. My starting lineup has started to take shape a bit, but my pitching staff is just getting pounded mercilessly. Cashner, Cobb, and Bundy all got shelled in their last start. To find some positive, prospect Luis Ortiz pitched 5 shutout innings for the W in his first major league start. He and Josh Rogers have replaced Yefry Ramirez and David Hess in the rotation, and will stay until they prove to be overmatched.

Mancini and Trumbo have both been ice cold, opening the door for Chris Davis to get a few starts. He has put together a decent week or so, raising his average about 40 points (to .175).

The biggest bright spot on our team has been infielder Drew Jackson. He beat out Vlad Jr. for American League Rookie of the Month, slashing .333/.382/.469 with 2 HR, 9 RBI, and 9 SB. He was a Rule 5 pick originally from the Dodgers, selected by the Phillies then acquired by us in a trade for international bonus slot money. He looks like he has the tools and potential to have a long-term spot on the team if he keeps up the productivity. Fellow Rule-5 pick Richie Martin ended the month with a 3-for-4 game and is batting .271 with 3 homers. Glad I hung onto them.

Still looking for our first series win. We head into May riding a 6 game losing streak.

Looked over the Pirates roster and I've been looking for a team I can truly build up and one that has carryover save potential and I think Pittsburg may be the perfect candidate. They have some good young talent and if you can add a few pieces here or there they are a few years away from true contention. As a Phillies fan I like to run that franchise as true to like as possible but with the Pirates I can make trades, pick up free agents and tune the team to how I like without feeling like I'm messing things up. Can't wait for OSFM to drop.

Cardinals improved to 2-0 after beating the Mariners 12-5 last night. Cardinals clubbed 3 more homeruns in a park that has always been considered a pitchers park. Thru 2 games the Cardinals lead the majors with 7 homeruns. Patrick Wisdom hit his NL leading 3rd homerun last night, Carson Kelly added a grand slam, and Tulo got his first hit of the season and in a Cards uniform with a solo shot.

Carlos Martinez pitched a complete game, though he probably should've been pulled as he gave up 3 runs in the 9th, ballooning his ERA to 5, but he didn't want to come out. He allowed 5 ER on 9 hits, and struck out 11.

Kolten Wong collected career hit 1,000 last night with a single to right in his 2nd AB.

The series finale is today with the Cardinals putting Jack Flaherty on the bump against Rookie Davis.

Dodgers (58-25) wrapped up 4 game series in Seattle (54-28) taking 3 of 4 games; 9-7, 6-3, 2-4, 10-0. Floro, Kershaw, and Buehler all picked up wins with Maeda getting the lone loss after a blowing a 2-1 lead coming in from the pen.

Bellinger may have found his power again as he’s homered twice. Hernandez has done well playing everyday in Turner’s absence seeing his average rise almost 30 points to .231 and doubling his HR (8) and RBI (23) totals in a short time.

2 days and 2 games left in June as the Dodgers return home for a 3 games series with the Brewers (43-38). Stripling, Urias and Kershaw are scheduled to receive the starts for the Dodgers.

16 days until All Star Week.

I'm in the midst of a 6 game losing streak that has dropped my 2024 Cubs record to 88-65. I'm still 8 games up in the central with 9 to play. Bryant sit at .295 with 42 Hrs and 113 rbis. Morgan Duran (My Ryno Clone) is currently at .294 with 30 Hrs, 117 rbis and 35 steals.

Hey guys, Good to see so many of you guys back again.

I’m gonna try something new this year. Planning on having two franchises this year that i hope to keep up with and be able to carry over into coming years.

With OSFM rosters dropping later this week, once it happens here’s what I’ll be doing.

                    1. A rebuild - team unknown yet. Plan on taking the bottom 10 teams in the league (ranked 21-30) and doing a randomizing selection for what team. The thing I always struggled with is how to play these (play every game, quick manage, play one sim 2, etc.) so I found a wheel randomizer app, and I have the following options. (Play full game, play Game - hitting only, play game - pitching only, quick manage, sim Game) I feel like this would keep me intrigued. Looking to keep it semi-realistic. Not a ton of trades, but enough to shape a roster to be fun.

2 - Braves Franchise, attempting to play 162 games, with a few Prospect spotlights. Keeping the franchise as realistic as possible.

I look forward to posting in the future and updating you guys.

I wish there was a way to add more user teams once the franchise is going. I didn’t do 30 team control in the beginning so I’m def not restarting. Just wish I would’ve gone one NL and one AL team.

                        Well 8-9 , 2 games behind the 9-6 Phillies.

Markakis is on fire hitting .417 early on.

Nick Livingston got sent down hitting .167 with 10 Ks in 30 ABs. Maybe he’s just tired from making the game Brought up Darnell Sweeney for some fielding diversity.

Acuna is hitting .233 with O homeruns. Might have to sub him out with Mike Will who has 5 homeruns off the bench.

Old Bartolo Colon is holding on, but scarey to pitch with as he doesn’t have much velocity. He’s 1-1 so far with a 5.28 era. 20 hits in 15.1 innings, 4 homers allowed. Struck out 11 with 0 walks.

                        SPs are:

                        Teheran
                        Newcomb
                        Joel Benjamin (SDS)
                        Touki Toussaint
                        Colon

Having more fun with the game this year than ever.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Scouting, drafting, and developing prospects through the minors is one of my favorite parts of this game and I’m 30-something days away from the draft in which I’ll have the first overall pick.

My scouting strategy is pretty simple, especially in a rebuild. Hire the best scout in each region, spend April “discovering” as many players as I can then spend May scouting individual players that look interesting. In my experience, scouting individual players really only affects your top 2 picks in the draft as most of your “scouted” players will be off the board after that. My first 2 picks are usually high-ceiling guys with the rest being lottery tickets based on organizational need. This year my “organizational need” criteria for the mid and late rounds are left-handed relievers, a catcher, and a third baseman.

I really want my 1/1 pick to be a big, mean, Roger Clemens-type ace SP to build my staff around. I have only 2 ‘A’ starting pitchers in the minors - DL Hall, who is 20 years old and probably will only spend half of this season above Class A and Hunter Harvey, who has great stuff but is chronically injured and looks to be heading the Brad Lidge route to the bullpen. Unfortunately that guy doesn’t seem to be present in this draft from what I’ve seen. There are a few future ‘80’ starters out there but I can find a flaw in each of their scouting reports, and I can’t miss with a 1/1.

There are a few intriguing catchers out there, but most of them don’t have enough future offensive tools to justify a first overall pick.

The most attractive prospect I can see now is a HS first baseman from Georgia with future 80 contact grades that looks to be the sort of guy who could win multiple batting titles. However my top bat in the minors, Ryan Mountcastle, looks like his future is at first due to a lackluster defensive profile. I almost always aim for ceiling over organizational need with my first pick though, and that bat might be too much to pass up.

                              2019 Chicago Cubs Carryover franchise
                              Every pitch, every game

The first home series was a good one as the Cubs took 2 of 3 from the Pirates.

Game 1: The Pirates jumped all over Jose Quintana as he gave up 5 earned runs in only 4.0 innings. The Cubs could only pull to within one and fell to Nick Kingham and the Bucs 5-4

Game 2: Jon Lester continued his dominate pitching going 7.1 innings and helped the Cubs get a slim 1-0 win. Lester improved to 3-0 on the season and looks like he'll have another run at a Cy Young as he did in 2018, coming in second to Aaron Nola of the Phillies

Game 3: The Cubs helped Yu Darvish pick up his first W of the year. Bryant and Rizzo both went deep and helped the Cubs coast to a 6-1 victory to take the series! Kris Bryant went 4-4, a triple shy of the cycle.

Up next, 3 at Wrigley against Mike Trout and the Defending World Series Champion Angels (9-4).
