Won 3 games in a row (2 quick managed), in the game I played i was down 3-1 going into the bottom of the 6th which is when the offense woke up and hit 3 straight triples to start the inning and scored a total of 5 runs that inning and won 6-3. Team sits at 4-3 and looks to add an inning eating bullpen arm as my bullpen is exhausted early in the season.

I got a HARD lesson in my Jays franchise today. We have quite a few low rated defensive players on the team and today I had to sub out a couple guys due to fatigue. What a nightmare! SDS wasn’t kidding when they said defence matters this year.
Now I’m in the difficult position of do I trade for better defenders or stick with what I’ve got. So far I’m hitting pretty good with who I’ve got.
Damn it’s tough playing GM.

First Year Player Draft - 2019
A little over 2 months into the season and the Royals are still somehow somewhat relevant. We are 4th in the Central with a record of 31-31. 4.5 games back of the Indians for 1st. And 3.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. All while having a -39 run differential. The Yankees lead the AL East at 44-18 which is the best record overall. Astros lead the west at 33-30. Over in the NL the Nats lead the East at 39-22. The Reds lead the Central at 38-23. And the Dodgers lead the West at 43-20. The Diamondbacks have the worst record in the majors at 22-41.
Our offense now has the worst AVG (.232) and SLG% (.358) with the 4th worst OBP (.310). Our team ERA improved ever so slightly from 4.15 to 4.12 which is 17th in the majors. Still no Complete Games and just 1 Shutout so far.
2019 MLB Draft
Spoiler
Connor Christiansen needs a little work with his defense. If he can become an average defender he may be the best player in the draft. His bat already might be best with the ability to hit for a high AVG and 40 HR potential.
Josh Blount could end up being a great backup Catcher. Probably wont be good enough defensively to ever be more. And doesnt have much power. He might hit .300. But with his speed his SLG% wouldnt be much higher.
Juan Castro throws a 4 Seam, 2 Seam, Change, Slider and Sweeping Curve. Fastball tops out in the low 90's but has enough movement to fool hitters. When he can get it to go where he wants that is. Back end of the rotation kind of guy.
Eric Duncan is good at keeping the ball in the zone. But thats about it. Throws a 2 seam, Change up 12-6 Curve and Slider. Fastball struggles to hit 90. Doesnt miss many bats and gives up some pretty hard contact. Has a lot of work to do.
Frank Lawler probably wont get much better than he is. But has some tools that gives me a little hope he could be a late bloomer. Throws a 2 Seam, Curve, Slider and Splitter and sits in the low to mid 90's with his fastball. The biggest issue is his command but has enouh movement on his pitches to miss some bats and when he does get hit its fairly soft.
Jim Gibbs probably no more than a 5th starter but he could be great at it. Going deep into the game and giving the BP a rest. Throws a Cutter, Slider, Change, Curve and Sinker.
Ray Ponce isnt even worth talking about.
I may go in after the season and edit the ages of all the players that were drafted. Just not sure how it would affect things. If I do edit them any player with an OVR less than 55 would become 18. 55-59 would be 19. 60-64 would 20. 65-70 would be 21. And then 70+ OVR would be 22. Would help teams like Cincinnati who picked up 21 year old Chad Handy with a 94 POT but only a 47 OVR. Might do some test sims to see how things turn out. There also doesnt seem to be any secondary positions so I might go in and give some out.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
The first 10 games of the season are in the books. the Pirates sit at 4-6 tied for last in the tight NL Central. lost 3 1-run games in a row in extra innings. The offense has gone completely stagnant, i can't hit for power at all and every fly ball is a weak pop up. I have been using All-Star pitching and holding opponents to 2-3 runs per game but it isn't enough. I have been bitten by the outfielder not locking onto the ball bug multiple times that have cost me 2 games so far.
The rotation is very strong, the bullpen is fairly strong but they have been overworked. I have 5 players hitting under .210 and one of them is Marte who is hitting a whopping .128 in 39 ABs. Polanco, Chisenhall, Newman, Diaz have been on the IL. Jason Martin set to make his big debut against the Cubs. if the SS position doesn't improve within the next week or so top prospect Cole Tucker will make his MLB debut.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
I have a question and I apologize in advance if it's been answered already. I haven't got the game yet, but have read about the increase in penalty if you play someone out of position. If you edit a player's secondary position to include a position that wasn't there organically, will he still experience a drop off in fielding at that new position even though now it's listed as one of his positions he can play?
Say I have a 3rd baseman coming up through the minors but want him to play mostly second base cause we're thinner their, will he be able to field second base without the penalties?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Things haven't changed much for the Jays coming into the middle of May. The team currently sits at 16-23, already a whopping 13 games back of the first place Yankees and it's looking like our biggest battle this year will be versus the Orioles for last place. The O's have dropped 9 straight and are sitting at 11-29 so that title belongs to them quite comfortably at the moment.
Freddy Galvis and Brandon Drury have both cooled off a bit, but in their place Teoscar Hernandez and Justin Smoak have gotten red hot.
Here's a more in depth look at our starters:
C - Danny Jansen: .270/.322/.360 2HR 12RBI
1B - Justin Smoak: .266/.344/.531 11HR 25RBI
1B/DH - Rowdy Tellez: .208/.296/.410 8HR 16RBI
2B - Lourdes Gurriel Jr. : .275/.309/.389 3HR 13RBI
SS - Freddy Galvis: .281/.348/.338 1HR 7RBI
3B - Vladimir Guerrero Jr. .286/.388/.464 1HR 7RBI
LF - Teoscar Hernandez - .288/.331/.492 5HR 13RBI
CF - Randal Grichuk - .195/.308/.407 7HR 22RBI
RF - Brandon Drury - .269/.333/.407 4HR 18RBI
Drury has been incredibly consistent as our lead off guy all year, and with Galvis hitting in the 9 hole we're at our most dangerous when our line-up rolls over. Tellez and Grichuk definitely stick out for all the wrong reasons, but seeing Tellez bring the power is nice. Socrates Brito was recently optioned down to AAA after a rather unspectacular start to his year as our 4th outfielder. Jonathan Davis was called up in his place and in his first game after arriving went 3/4 with a double and a home run (the first of his career.) I'm hoping to see Grich sort things out before we get too deep into the year but if not I won't continue starting a guy who can't stay above the Mendoza line, and Davis and McKinney will get to share some increased playing time.
Taking a look at the rotation, Trent Thorton is still the huge stand out. Sporting a 1.70(!) ERA in 42.1IP with 43 strikeouts and a 0.90 WHIP. This has netted him a 4-1 record and he is starting to look like he could be Toronto's next big thing. We are still keeping him on pretty low pitch counts and he's yet to finish the 7th inning in any of his starts. Want to make sure he's easy on his arm for his first season and considering where we stand right now he will probably be shut down for the season sometime in August.
Clay Buchholz has impressed as well with a 3.09 ERA, for his efforts the Jays have awarded him with enough run support to give him a... 1-5 record, yikes. Still, pleasantly surprised with his performance so far. Not stealing the show but consistency is key and if he can bring that alongside his veteran status we will most definitely take it.
Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez haven't been all that noteworthy unfortunately and we will need them to get things going to create some buzz come the trade deadline. Matt Shoemaker has just been dropped to the pen after a terrible start to his season. 1 of his 8 starts have been a quality start, and he's been struggling most nights to make it through the 5th inning. Ryan Borucki has been called up from AAA to take his place. Since recovering from injury Borucki has pitched fairly well in his minor league appearances and will look to claim the 5th rotation spot for good.PL: Manchester United

I feel you man. Between McKinney, Gurriel, Drury, Hernandez and Smoak I don’t know who has committed more errors for me! It’s been a nightmare. Gurriel has 6 in the first month of the season alone!

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
I started my official Braves Franchise with the new Full Minors roster. This is a rough post as I’m doing this all from memory from work.
I started out by using the opening day roster and simmed up until yesterday’s date.
I’m going to be playing 1 or 2 then simming 4 or 5. I want to consistently use new starting pitching without playing every game. I would love to play every game but i know i would burn myself out.
Through April 23rd we are 11-11. Freddie Freeman is hitting over .375, Markakis has been hitting over .300 and Johan Camargo has been hitting .350 in a platoon role (I’ll come back to this)
McCann has been impressive hitting .270 with a few RBIs.
Inciarte has struggled a lot, dansby Swanson has been struggling also. And Ozzie has been hitting about .220 in the leadoff spot. Donaldson is hitting the ball hard but not finding many holes, they’ll be soon to fall.
As far as pitching goes, we’ve seen a little bit of everything.
Max Fried gave up 13 runs in 3.2 innings of work against the Mets (simmed) earlier in the year. He then left the same game with a leg injury. He’s back and we managed to get his era to a slim 13.75 now.
Teheran is 2-1 with a 3.35 era.
Newcomb has struggled posting 0-3 with a 6.75 era- we may be sending him down like in real life.
Kevin Gausman has been excellent, 3-0, 2.90 era.
Foltynewicz is working on his rehab, he should be back very soon.
Lastly, the state of our roster. With Johan Camargo starting off hot as can be, he’s proved he has earned more playing time. However, it’s tough because there’s only so many spots on the field. And a decision has been made. Unless Ender Inciarte starts to playing a lot better, like a complete 180, he will be getting dealt. The plan is to let Acuña patrol in Center, and having Camargo play left. His defense/speed isn’t near what Enders is, but I can’t allow a struggling bat to plague our lineup. Now this plan won’t go into effect until June/July, I’ve been researching some trades and I think i will deal Inciarte and Luiz Gohara for a pitcher that we can add to our rotation that will be an Ace, or a player that would give a huge offensive boost. However the only position that we would likely need to heavily improve is probably catcher. But if McCann continues to hit, him and Flowers can keep platooning. As far as Gohara, i have plenty of young depth behind him and to be honest, I don’t know if he’ll pan out like he’s projected to.
I will keep you guys updated on what happens next!
Also, I’m hoping to post more in depth stats, game recaps, etc.

Alright, we got a follower!!! Lol
Yeah man, I mean looking ahead, my future rotation will consist of Folty, Touki, Ian Anderson, Soroka, Allard(?) barring anything huge happening. I feel like we’re just one piece away from being a serious contender. Not sure if it’s a starter, Reliever, Closer or back up player. When dealing Inciarte/Gohara, hoping I’ll get a serviceable, cheap backup outfielder. I don’t think i can rely on Matt Joyce and/or Duvall

With an 8-1 victory over Colorado yesterday Braves ownership has extended my contract thru midnight today.
Sadly Bartolo Colon was released and his look-a-like Bruce Rondon was brought up. Rondo went 7 giving up 3 hits while devouring all the food in the club house (dude is seriously porky).
Markakis and Albies both had two doubles each. Acuna also contributed a double. Yency Almonte took the loss.
Got my record back to 14-14. 2.5 behind the Nats. 14-13 Padres come in for a three game set.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Gohara would be difficult to put a value on IRL. Hes been a front-of-the-rotation prospect at times but the conditioning/weight issues scare people and the fact that he didn’t live up to the hype in ‘18 doesn’t help. When he first came up in ‘17 he looked like a young CC Sabathia. Either way I think the Braves would get a decent haul for those two. Might want to run it by the experts in the “trade discussion” thread.
Yeah maybe I’ll add an additional prospect to the trade to add on to it. What I actually might do is bump Goharas potential to an B (85-87) and maybe add another B prospect from our system.

Mlb The SHow 19 - Franchise
Is quick manage broken for everyone else too? After I Quick Manage a game it takes me to a screen where no buttons will work including the touch button.
This is frustrating because for my franchise I like to quick manage a lot or do player lock. I hate just straight simming..
Any idea or update from SDS on this?Comment
