On the team selection screen just scroll through without looking and use which ever team you land on.

I'm back but not with my Braves Franchise. I decided I wanted to be apart of a rebuild and I decided I wanted to bring a World Series ring to Seattle.

The state of our franchise is unknown right now as we have some guys who can/should play some good ball to keep us competitive. But on the flip side of that we do have a lack of talent in some areas, we have some bad/expiring contracts and our farm system is ranked one of the lowest in all of baseball.

First off, since doing a rebuild, I won't be playing a whole lot of games this year. I wanted to get to the draft, trade deadline and call ups to get a feel for what our future roster may hold.

I started by simming through the month of April. I figured this would give us a good grasp on whether or not we can think about contending and if we want to be buyers at the deadline.... And its evident we'll be selling A LOT at the deadline.

Our offense has been sub-par. A lot of our guys who should be playing well, are simply playing bad. Our rotation has actually been okay. Marco Gonzalez and Yusei Kikuchi have been more than serviceable. And Felix Hernandez is showing us why he was once the King. He has been dominant through this part of the season.

And then, welcome to the dumpster fire. Our bullpen has been downright dismal. We almost have more blown saves than total wins. It's bad.

Take a look at these stats yourself and disect.

Also, I ended up making it past the first year player draft, however I forgot to update the stats at the end of May, so I'll update them mid-june or end of June and re-post.

Let me know if there's anything you guys want to see, and what you think.
Future posts, I'm planning in additional stats (League leaders, possible trades, up and coming prospects)

          thanks for following.

            2019 All-Star Week

All-Star Week in Cleveland kicks off with the futures game. AAA OF Yusniel Diaz would be our representative. He stands as our #1 prospect and the #12 prospect in all of baseball, and is the closest player in our system to a true 5-tool weapon. Playing in AAA as the starting LF and leadoff hitter, he is hitting .284/.372/.466 with 11 HR, 37 RBI, and 15 SB on the season. We knew he was a good hitter when we acquired him in the Manny Machado trade in 2018, but his advanced plate discipline has taken him to the next level in his first season in AAA where he has pushed for a major league call up all season.

That discipline was on full display in the futures game, working a 4-pitch walk in his first plate appearance. He’d work the count to 3-1 in his second chance against Pirates righty Mitch Keller before lacing a single to the opposite field. He’d follow that up in his third chance with a ground rule double against Reds’ flamethrower Hunter Greene before flying out in his 4th and final appearance of the night to finish 2-3 with a walk, a double, and an RBI. Futures Game MVP would be out of reach however, as that honor goes to White Sox 2B Nick Madrigal who finished 3-4 with a homer and 3 RBI.

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

              2019 All-Star Week

We wrap up the first half of the regular season dropping 2/3 in Toronto and head to the Major League portion of All-Star week sitting at 26-65, the worst record in the majors. Still, our .286 winning percentage is a step above the ~.230 we flirted with in early June. Jonathan Villar continues his breakout, career year by swiping his 54th stolen base in Game 3 in Toronto, which ties the franchise record set by Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio in 1964. Villar will be our lone representative at the All-Star Game in Cleveland, narrowly edging Whit Merrifield to win the starting 2B nod.

The home run derby would be first. Unfortunately for the Cleveland locals there would be no Indians participating, so they’d have to choose between former Indian Edwin Encarnacion or intra-state rival Scooter Gennett. Gennett would briefly steal the show, clubbing 17 homers in the second round to eliminate defending champ Bryce Harper. He would ultimately fall in the finals, 14-13, to White Sox slugger Daniel Palka.

Coaches called me and said my sister was gravely ill, flew back to Atlanta and my wife told me I don’t have a sister, so I missed the game.

Without me the Braves won 7-0, another good outing by Bruce Rondon who went 7 giving up 6 hits and striking out 7. Albies (hot) had a homer as well as Acuna who is starting to heat up.

Back to .500, 17-17. Phil’s have won 2 straight against the first place Nats, so remain 3 out.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

We currently sit 14-10, 1 GB of the Pirates in the Central. We just took 2 out of 3 from the Rockies and are about to make a west coast trip that includes 3 in San Francisco and then 2 in Oakland in a rematch of the 2021 World Series. That will close out the month of April and kick off May.

We have some concern with both Tommy Pham and our starting pitching staff as we've already let Mike Leake go, and Alex Reyes is struggling despite his 2-2 record. He has an ERA of 7.07 and WHIP near 2. Reyes has no options left so moving him to Memphis to work out the kinks isn't an option as there is no way he will clear waivers. Tommy Pham just doesn't seem himself this year. He's not hitting and his fielding has taken a step back. At the #2 spot in the lineup, he is vital to our success as he sets the plate for Singleton, Wisdom, Fabregas, and Tulo. We started Corey Ray in right in the series finale against the Rox and Ray finished 3 for 4 (should've been 4 for 4 but Tauchman made a nice play on a ball in the gap). I think we are going to start Ray in right for the Giants' series to see what happens.

Drew Harrington will make his Cardinals major league debut in game 1 of the series against the Giants. He pitched in Toronto effectively, hopefully that will carryover to St.Louis.

                  Pitching Matchups:

                  Harrington vs Trent Acevedo
                  Michael Wacha vs Shelby Miller
                  Carlos Martinez vs Garrett Williams
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                      Braves - May 1, 2019 Update

We end April with a 22-8 record, good for first place in the East and 5.5 in front of the Mets. The Nats are in third while the Marlins and Philles are tied for last at 11-18.

The Cubs lead the Central with the Dodgers leading the West. The Brewers and Mets are the WC teams.

Division leaders in the AL: Yankees, Twins and Astros. The A's and Orioles (yes, the Orioles) are your WC teams.

                      Offense

We've been an offensive juggernaut through the season's first month. We lead MLB in average (.299), runs scored (169), doubles (84) and we're second in homers (47).

Donaldson has been a beast. He was the NL Player of the Month for April.

                      Spoiler

                      Pitching
Pitching hasn't been as good. We're 25th in ERA at 4.19. And we've given up 42 homers, which is next to last. We've also given up a ridiculous four grand slams in the last week.

The bullpen has actually been solid for the most part. Jonny Venters and the demoted Shane Carle have struggled. We signed Craig Kimbrel at the end of the month, despite A.J. Minter excelling in the closer role. And we traded Sam Freeman to the Brewers for Josh Tomlin. With that move, Jesse Biddle can move out of the long-relief role into middle relief. Tomlin is a better fit for the long-relief spot.

The rotation has been a mess. Max Fried is in danger of being sent down. Touki Toussaint has excelled at AAA.

                      Final Thoughts
Tempted to move up to HOF, but going to stick with All-Star for this season. I've never hit this well. It's a different experience going into a game expecting to score 5+ runs every night. I've also never pitched near this bad. But it's been a lot of fun so far.

Thought I'd regret going with the universal DH, but it's been fun too, although it still feels wrong.

The Yankees are done with the LA Angels after taking 3 of 4 and are on to San Francisco.

Game 1 Severino Vs Taylor Cole
Yankees won 3-0 off a 3 hit 2 RBI day from Judge and a Hicks solo HR. Gardner put in a 3 hit game out of the nine hole. Severino held LA to 2 hits through 6 innings. Chapman worked his way into trouble in the 9th walking 2 and allowing a single to load the bases with 2 outs. Kimbrel would Enter to get the final out with a strikeout. Yankees win 3-0

                        Game 2 Tanaka vs Pena
Tanaka imploded surrendering 8 runs through 6 wasting Hicks’s 2 HR 3 RBI day.
                        Angels Win 8-4.

                        Game 3 Keuchel Vs Ohtani
Yankees came back and destroyed the Angels the following night by a score of 10-1. Kuechel would go 7.1 innings allowing only a single run. Most interesting part of the game for those other then Yankee fans who love offense was when tempers flared in the 8th and 9th. In the 8th Angel pitcher Luis Garcia plunked Aaron Hicks who had been lighting LA up all series, in the midst of another 2 HR day, with a fastball to the back.

In the 9th German, who was called up before the game as a fresh arm, and had gotten Trout to hit into an inning ending DP in the 8th, opened the inning by firing 3 straight fastballs at the back of Justin Upton. The Angel dugout was riled up after the second one with a warning being issued to the bench’s. Another failed attempt later, the benches cleared and German was ejected.

                        Game 4 Happ Vs Skaggs
A pitchers duel. The first run wouldn’t come till the 8th with Skaggs still out there. Clint Frazier got ahold of one blasting it 398 feet to left making it 1-0 Yankees. He had a double earlier in the game. Happ only lasted 5 innings. Chapman would get into more trouble in the 9th. With runners on 1st and second with outs Chapman was pulled for Ottavino with Trout stepping up to the plate. Trout lined it into right tying the game. Onto extras.

After 2 scoreless frames from Green it was still tied. It became German’s game to win or lose, taking the mound as the final arm in the Yankee bullpen. He did not disappoint. He ran into trouble in his first inning, the 12th, walking Trout. Trout stole second and then reached third on a wild pitch. Got Upton looking on strikes. Put Cozart on. Struck out Pujols. Goodwin groundout. Inning over.

Fast forward to the 15th, Stanton crushed one 399 feet to left givingthe Yankees a 2-1 lead. To the bottom half, German still out there. Things weren’t looking good as Cozart walked and reached second on a wild pitch. Another LA rally? Not this time. Pujols lineout. Goodwin strikeout. Smith groundout. Ballgame.
Yankees win 2-1. What a game.

German will be headed to the minors to rest as a few fresh arms will be needed after 10 total innings of work from the bullpen. But he’ll be back in 4 days after a 3 game set with the Giants and a day off to meet the MLB club in Arizona. 2 strong first impressions in their season debuts from German and Frazier.

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

                          2019 All-Star Week

Congrats to the Orioles major and minor league all-stars!

                          MLB:
2B Jonathan Villar - I’ve wrote about him a lot because he’s having a career year and is the standout best player on our squad. At the break he’s batting .307/.377/.446 with 8 HR, 34 RBI, 18 2B, and a league-leading 54 SB. He ranks in the top-10 in the AL in batting average, hits and runs scored. He’s also displayed impressive versatility, occasionally playing centerfield for us where his speed plays well. He is the leading vote-getter among AL second basemen.

As for the game, the NL Stars would win going away by a score of 10-3. The game was quite close until the 9th when the NL squad would touch up Rays lefty Jose Alvarado and White Sox righty Juan Minaya for 5 runs. That outburst was capped by a 3-run homer from Manny Machado, who would take home ASG MVP honors. Villar would start at second and go 0-1, striking out in his lone plate appearance.

                          AAA:
OF Yusniel Diaz - Another guy I’ve written plenty about this year, as he’s our #1 prospect and a half step away from the majors. He makes the team as a reserve and will be the Tides’ only representative in El Paso for the AAA All-Star game.

                          AA:
RHP Matthias Dietz - Our #29 prospect, the 23-year-old Dietz has always had big-league stuff which was limited by poor command. After a move to the bullpen, Dietz earned a mid-season promotion to AA where he dominated and hasn’t looked back. In 34 games, he’s posted a 3-0 record with a 1.73 ERA in 52.0 innings with an impressive 3:1 K:BB ratio.

RHP Bo Schultz - The 33-year-old Schultz has had a fairytale career, starting as an undrafted free agent who was signed out of the independent leagues. He’d eventually make the majors, pitching 67 innings split over various assignments between the Diamondbacks and Blue Jays from 2014-2016. We signed him on a veteran non-roster contract prior to the season, and he reported to Bowie without complaint where he’s posted a 1.10 ERA in 41 innings as the primary 8th-inning setup man for Zach Pop.

RHP Zach Pop - He began the season as our #24 prospect but has moved up the rankings more aggressively than any of our other prospects this season. Pop has dominated as Bowie’s closer, posting a 1.16 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. His 26 saves rank 4th in the Eastern League. He’s not long for AA.

1B/DH J.C. Escarra - A 15th round pick in 2017 as a senior out of Florida Atlantic, Escarra is a non-prospect who has shown breakout potential in 2019 with 12 home runs which is tied for 4th in the EL.

C Andrew Susac - Like Schultz, Susac was signed to a veteran non-roster deal and was squeezed down to AA due to a glut of depth ahead of him. He’s hit in the middle of the order all season, batting .271 with 8 homers and 32 RBI.

3B Anderson Feliz - Feliz, a career minor leaguer, has played 3 infield positions for us this year and hit .252 with 3 HR.

I drafted a 19 year old 1B out of Puerto Rico in the 3rd round who comes in at a 71 Overall and a B potential. He has 73 Power vs LHP and 63 Power vs RHP. 61/54 contact ratings vs LHP/RHP. Will be interesting to see his development. 67 vision, 70 discipline and 70 clutch. Name is Eddy Cabrera

Arguably the worst loss I’ve ever had on The Show...

Up 1-0 in the top of the ninth, one out. Hendricks has a no-hitter. Seeing-eye single that sneaks through the infield for a base hit to end the no-hit bid. Next batter, Mike Trout, home run. I lose, 2-1.

                                Start of Season - 2020

For the first time since May 13th, 2010 the Kansas City Royals will have someone other than Ned Yost step into the dugout as manager. Jay Chung takes over as skipper bringing in Landon Baldwin as Hitting Coach and Troy Mooney as Pitching Coach. Alex Cruz and Les Little will take over as 1st and 3rd base coaches respectively. With Brandon Rector taking control of the farm

Alex Gordon chose not to retire and we chose not to bring him back. Chris Owings, Jake Diekman, Billy Hamilton and Terrance Gore all became free agents. Billy Hamilton wanted a lot more money than I think he is worth. So we gave him a qualifying offer which he refused and ultimately signed with the Yankees for 62 million over 4 years. And Ian Kennedy helped out our wallet retiring with a year left on his deal. And im not sure what the hell happened to Brad Boxberger.

To help replace some of them we brought in Cole Hamels, Anthony Desclafani, Adam Warren, Jake Noll, Mac Williamson and Renato Nunez. Hoping we can move Hamels at the deadline to grab a prospect or 2. Nunez was pretty good with the bat last year hitting .302./.366/.454 with 10 HR. Not sure why he wasnt brought back in Baltimore at only 25. Mac Williamson didnt play in the majors last year. Mainly grabbed him as depth since he isnt a great hitter but can play fairly good defense all around the outfield. Desclafani had a 3.34 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 148 innings last year. Might have got a little lucky according to his 4.22 WHIP. But another guy we were able to get for fairly cheap with the reds not bringing him back. Adam Warren had a 3.32 ERA and 1.26 wHIP in 120 innings last year. With Boxberger going missing we needed a guy to slot into the pen. And Jake Noll was brought in as organizational depth but played well enough in Spring Traning to earn a spot on the team.

                                Spoiler

Once again the NW Arkansas Naturals are loaded with talent. Our top 4 prospects will all spend at least some of the season down there with 6 of the top 10 and 8 of the top 15 currently on the roster. Brady Singer returns as the top prospect with 2019 2nd overall pick Connor Christiansen sitting at #2. They are 25 and 26 on the MLB top 50 list.

                                Spoiler

We open up the season at home against the White Sox for the 3rd year in a row. 30 games total between now and the end of April. 12 of them against teams with a winning record last season. With 17 of the 30 games being at home. I was surprised we put together 77 wins last year. We were able to do it with a -79 run differential. Im gonna go with 73ish wins this year and then hopefully be pushing .500 next year if things go well with some of the minor leaguers.
