Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Got it. Yea, I can let some unusual trades happen, I just don't want game-breaking stuff to pass where I gotta slam the brakes. I guess I'll do my thing and just keep an eye on those transactions each day. ThanksComment

Why didn’t you do 30 team control? In the future you should definitely go 30 team control for your next franchise, having the ability to step in and fix any really dumb things the CPU does is a must in my opinion. What are you planning to do with the franchise? Are you a new franchise every year kind of player or are you interested in carrying it over? If you were planning on it being a carryover I’d say it’s probably worth restarting to have 30 team control.Comment

I don't do 30 team control. I play every game, every pitch. My franchise is it's own little world, whatever trades happen, happen.Playstation Network:That70s_Gamer

I'm the same way, I've come to grips with the fact that it is a video game and some things will happen that wouldn't happen in real life. But I like the randomness that comes with controlling only 1 team and letting the rest of the league play out. Plus I don't have nearly as much time to game as I used to so I don't have the time to mess around with 30 team control.Comment

Cardinals lose Michael Wacha for 2-3 months due to torn pectoral
Michael Wacha left in the 2nd inning of the game against the Pirates due to a torn pectoral. The Cardinals placed Wacha on the 60 Day IL and he is expected to miss 2-3 months. Wacha wasn't having the best of seasons (2-3 3.89 ERA) but he was pitching well in his last few starts.
Miles Mikolas was recalled from Memphis to take Wacha's spot in the rotation.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Following the 3 out of 4 series win over LAA, the Yankees crumbled during the remainder of the West Coast road trip. First the Yankees would drop 2 out of 3 to the Giants and would then be swept out of Arizona in 2. Most notable event was a wasted Keuchel gem where he tossed 8 innings of 1 run ball against Arizona where the Yankees would go on to lose in extras. We now sit at 19-11, still in 1st place in the AL East.
April has now come to a close and May baseball is here!
Division Leaders:
Yankees
Indians
Angels
Nationals
Cubs
Rockies and Dodgers are tied.
Your April Players of the month!
AL Pitcher of the month: Chris Sale 6 games 1.17 ERA and 60 strikeouts.
AL Player of the month: Miguel Cabrera 79 AB’s 405 AVG 7 HR’s 17 RBI’s.
AL rookie of the month: Yusei Kikuchi 5 games 2.34 ERA and 30 strikeouts.
NL pitcher of the month: Jake Arrieta 5 games 1.36 ERA and 36 strikeouts.
NL player of the month: Juan Soto 90 AB’s 456 AVG 4 HR’s and 22 RBI’s.
NL rookie of the month: Pete Alonso 84 AB’s 310 AVG 5 HR’s 11 RBI’s.
Top Yankees of April:
Brett Gardner 303 AVG 2 HR’s 10 RBI’s
Aaron Judge 311 AVG 13 HR’s 27 RBI’s
Luke Voit 308 AVG 4 HR’s 10 RBI’s.
Dallas Keuchel 1.91 ERA 42 IP.
Craig Kimbrel 1.08 ERA 8.1 IP.
Aroldis Chapman 2.70 ERA 10 IP
Zach Britton 2.08 ERA 8.2 IP.
Next up for the Yankees is a 3 game set vs the 17-13 Twins.
The day fans thought would never come has finally arrived, Jacoby Ellsbury has been activated from the IL. Ellsbury, who hasn’t seen MLB action since 2017, will rejoin the MLB club. To create room on the MLB roster, Clint Frazier was optioned to AAA.
Just what Ellsbury can provide at this point is unknown. He does add another lefty bat to the mix for a Yankee lineup stacked with RH hitters. Very unlikely he lives up to his massive salary but we hope he can at least be a decent backup OF. With his arm being terrible and his glove ok at best, he’s likely a guy you see subbed out late in close games.Last edited by Rocket32; 04-24-2019, 11:49 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Haven't updated in a little while, was grinding out my first season as year one was a big rebuilding year for the Jays. We finished 71-91 and ended up trading Smoak & Tepera at the deadline to the Red Sox who were desperately in need of some help at first base.
As far as year 2 goes, it has been an interesting one to say the least. First of all, Kyle Schwarber suffered a torn achilles just a few weeks into the season putting him out at least for the entire season, if not even longer than that. It was a tough loss, considering he led the team in home runs with 30 and RBI with 90 the previous season. Nothing we could do though, we had to move on, so we went ahead and brought in a now 39 year old Nelson Cruz. He has a track record of demolishing the Blue Jays so I figured maybe he would tear things up given the opportunity to play half of his games in the Rogers Center, and so far he has not disappointed, leading the team in dingers and RBI since joining on a 1 year contract.
The injuries didn't stop there however, as our two breakout starters from last year Ryan Borucki and Trent Thorton both suffered major injuries putting them on the 60-day IL. This left room for two call-ups in the form of Antonio Santana and Manuel Herrera, our two first picks in the 2019 amateur player draft. They have both pitched decently since their arrival, making me a little unsure of how handle the rotation moving forward.
Despite the setbacks, we are still competing, Teoscar Hernandez and Randal Grichuk have stepped up in a big way and even with the injuries our pitching has delivered. As of mid-June we sit 4 games back from the Yankees who lead the AL East. Vlad Guerrero Jr has become the latest causality of a 60-day IL stay though, so we will see if we can keep competing.
The biggest update however, and what prompted me to post this, was Julio Teheran, who we had picked up on a cheap 1 year deal after the Braves declined his team option, threw a no-hit 1 walk game his last time out versus the Angels. Not only was this shocking because he's been having a fairly average year up to this point and is on the verge of being traded when Borucki and Thorton return, but also because I didn't even realize it was a no-hitter until the 8th inning, at which time I was too scared to check the box score to see if anyone had been on base at all. My first no-hitter on the show and I was very happy about it, albeit a little let down when I found out I had indeed issued a walk in the 3rd so the perfect game was not to be.
Either way trading Teheran just got a little harder.
We did also make a trade during spring training that sent Sean Reid Foley, Jonathan Davis, Anthony Alford and Alen Hanson to the Indians in exchange for Tyler Naquin and Mike Clevinger.
A bit of a weird deal but with the Indians starting to lose players due to free agency it's looking like a rebuild might be in order, and Davis had a break-out season last year (in fact his overall at the time of the trade was the same as Naquin's!) We have a pretty big pool of pitching prospects as well, and I was in need of a lead off guy with solid contact ratings. As far as Clevinger goes, I'm just a fan of the guy, even if he had posted lackluster numbers last year in my franchise, and has done the same so far in his time in TO.PL: Manchester United

I’m borderline psychotic with the detail I can put in to these things and don’t want it to take a week, but I’m having fun with it. Since I’ll be controlling the Yankees I’ll probably opt to not sign the Hicks extension.Comment

PIRATES FRANCHISE: HOF pitching, all-star hitting
I’m currently taking in the challenge of bringing a playoff series win and championship to the city of Pittsburgh. The roster is average to below average but I’m loving the bullpen and starting rotation. A lot of talent there. My lineup is subpar besides a few guys so I’ll look to pitch and play defense to keep me in games. Lot of A devlopment players as I’m limiting myself to 3 trades. I’ve sent 2 prospects with A grades and 1 B for top 50 prospect Luis Roberts(a bit much IMO). My remaining 2 I’ll probably shop marte for more prospects. Ke’bryn Hayes, cole tucker, Mitch Keller will make there Mlb debuts at some point in the season (Hayes coming first IMO) My final remaining trade I’ll wait closer to the deadline to see where I’m at. Will keep everyone posted on how it goes. Go BucsComment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Writing this sick from my bed since I've been sick and in the hospital once since friday. Anyway originally had a yankee franchise and was going 9-4 however wasn't hitting enough and was pitching too well. So i started over with different sliders and opened up against baltimore. We ended up winning 9-4. Sevy pitched great, 8 innings 1 run 10 strikeouts. The bullpen struggled to get the last 3 outs as we've given up 3 runs in the 9th as Baltimore left 2 runners on to end the game. No Home runs for the bombers however we sprayed the ball all around the field en route to the win. Game 2 and a much better recap coming soonComment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Man to me why not do both? Rebuilds are mainly just sim anyway. I would continue to do that one just for a less realistic fun franchise. But I would do a play every game one too. To me there's NOTHING more fun then playing and mashing with you're favorite team. Personally thats what im doing and i love it. 162 is time consuming but i make time for it in my free time. I work 2 jobs, and take 5 college courses on top of other life things, but my love for the game allows me to find time to get a season done. Ive personally never done 30 team control because to me thats too nitpicky. But as far as the play every game chise GO FOR ITComment
