Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Had a team meeting. Wanted to know who keyed my face while I slept last night. Nobody was talking.

Opened a three game set against the Brewers. Thames hit two monster shots st Forbes field.

    MIL. 4 5 0
    ATL. 1 6 0

I’m first in the league with homers, 70 in 46 games. Twins are second with 69.
Three players have 32 of these.

    Hougard 12
    Will 11
    Albies 9

Thing about Will are his attributes aren’t that great.

42/51/56/65, with a clutch of 46, but the guy is hitting .331. Go figure. He’s a C/1b/LF and has put Donaldson on the bench. My bench....ugh.

    Kelsey .223
    Donaldson .239
    Read. .190
Greg Butler, just called up hitting .500, that won’t last
    Camargo .173

24-22 half game behind the Phils. Last place Marlins 3.5 out. Nobody wants to take control of this division.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

With the college semester ending for me in little over a week and most of my end of semester work already complete I can now finally have time to start up a main franchise. Playing as the Baltimore Orioles. Released 1B Chris Davis and signed RP Kyle Crockett and RP Bruce Rondon to help round out the bullpen and to add depth to it. Made three trades prior to 2019 Opening Day. First trade came at the start of Spring Training (am also skipping over Spring Training for time's sake). Traded SS Richie Martin to to the Chicago Cubs for 3B David Bote, who will be my 2019 Opening Day third baseman. Next I traded SP Dylan Bundy, RP Richard Bleier, and CF prospect Lamar Sparks to the New York Mets for SP Jason Vargas, C Travis d'Arnaud, and 2B Dilson Herrera. Herrera was the key piece in this trade as I plan on him being my Opening Day 2019 second baseman. Travis d'Arnaud gives me another decent catcher who can play at the major league level until Chance Sisco is ready for the big leagues. The third and final trade I made prior to Opening Day was to send CP Michael Givens, 3B prospect Jomar Reyes, and CF prospect Austin Hays to the Atlanta Braves for SP Max Fried, will be my 2019 Opening Day starter,SP prospect Bryse Wilson, and SP prospect Freddy Tarnok. Fried and Wilson were the key pieces to this trade as both will serve in my starting five to start the season and could prove to be long-term pieces in my starting rotation. Now on to Opening Day 2019.

Rowdy Tellez broke his shin. Nobody else could play 1B outside Smoak. Acquired Gyorko from STL who was not getting any play time. Nice addition for me.

Well the 2020 season started out pretty well taking 2 out of 3 from the Cardinals. Down 3-0 in game 3 and rallied to win it 4-3 in extras thanks to a throwing error by their 2nd baseman but I'll take it!

Sixto Sanchez' first outing of his first full season went well going 6 innings and giving up 3 earned runs while striking out 8 earning his first quality start.

Big trade to start the new year for my M's as we traded Rule 5 Draft pick Sean Reid-Foley (68 overall with A potential at age 24) and a decent minor leaguer for Rockies Top prospect, SS Brendan Rogers! Love the trade as SS is something I have been looking to lock up and I have mine now for the next 15 years hopefully! Major league ready which will help us compete for a playoff spot in our 2nd year.

Long ways to go so back to grinding away!

2019 Chicago White Sox Fantasy Franchise

4/8: We just completed our Home opening series by taking 2 out of 3 from the Mariners. We had an offensive explosion for the first two games scoring 10 and 14 runs(new high for me this year). I was just thinking it’s time to bump the difficulty up and then we faced an ace in game 3 and got shut down! Verlander pitched 7+ scoreless and we ended up losing 3-2 coming up just short in the 9th. I’ll still prob up the difficulty soon, but I’ll see how the next week or so of games plays out.

In the two wins, Carlos Martinez improved to 2-0 and Rookie Japanese import Yusei Kikuchi picked up his first career MLB win to go 1-0 on the year.

We are tied for the MLB lead with 22 HR on the year already.

Next up is a 3 game set vs TB(5-5) before heading back on the road. They have a strong staff and will be throwing Snell, Carrasco and Stroman in the series.

23-17 at the quarter point. I acquired Gyorko after the Tellez injury. Just a week later Teoscar broke his ankle. 2-3 months.

Vlad and Bo are killing it so far, Bo over .330 and Vlad at .290. Grichuk has 29 RBI and 9 HR's already. Gyorko has been a massive addition, hitting .330 with 25 RBI. Drury has stepped in and his hitting .440 with 6hr and 23 RBI.

I am very impressed with the offense so far, and we began May losing the first 6 games, and I was worried we were headed for the downfall.

Rotation is doing well, Stroman is 5-2 with a 2.20, Sanchez has a 3.10, SHoemaker has aa 2.50. The 4 & 5 are struggling a bit, but still putting some quality outings together.

Bo Sox are still 3 up (26-14) and dont look to slow down anytime soon. Draft is about 23 days away. Hoping we can keep playing competitive baseball.

Starting my 2019 Chicago Cubs franchise.........look for more to come. Some storylines to come: what will the rotation look like? Will the Cubs make any trades? What will the bullpen look like coming out of spring training? What will be their draft needs?
Stay tuned for more to come as we get and over look of spring training and what direction the Cubs are looking to head to.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Well, I'm sitting at 28-27 in year 2025 (year 12) of my carry forward franchise. Not gonna lie, Part of me wants to take the latest OSFM roster add in some legends and continue my Baseball universe this way. The thought of having 1984 Ryne Sandberg patrolling the second sack is really enticing. I noticed they gave him attributes more in-line with his MVP season. His Batting stance is still jacked up though. **FWIW, as a Ryno fanatic I believe the best way to capture his batting stance is to use Adam Everett's stance with the following adjustments: Hand offset (x:35, Y:65, Z:19), Hand Rotation:66, Handwaggle:96, Back Elbow: 31, Front Elbow: 40 and Forward Foot offset (z:36, x:50)**

Anyways, the thought of playing with my favorite all time guy in a league with all the rookies and legends added from the 80's and 90's is really got me considering this. It would also allow me to turnoff GM contracts so I'm not forced to win a WS every 3 years.

If I do this I will consider the first year "2025" and this will branch off of my already 11 completed seasons. So I will still be my dynasty Cubbies. This is sort of the thing Ive done with Madden for about 20 years now and it why my Niners "Universe" has over 110 seasons. Basically I just keep marching on with the goal of Team year by year results.

I haven't fully decided and the good news is even if I start this and I want to go back to my other one I can. So if you see me talking about "2025" and mentioning Guys Like Ryno and Kerry Wood you'll know I did this I was planning on giving teams their legends and giving them 5 year team friendly contracts. I'm not a huge stickler on budgets and as I mentioned my goal is just pounding out seasons.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Now at May 17, the Yankees are 28-15 and remain in 1st place in the East. We took 2 out of 3 from the Twins before embarrassingly dropping 3 out of 4 at home to the Mariners. We turned it on at the right time for a key series against the second place Rays as we took it to them at the Trop sweeping them in 3. Then we headed home and swept Baltimore and their AAA caliber squad in 3.

Back on the 3rd, Ellsbury was optioned to AAA as we called Frazier back up to the MLB club. Days ago the Yankees suffered a major blow at the minor league level losing A potential 64 OVR international signing OF Alexander Palma for the year to a Torn MCL..

Next up after a day off is another key 3 game series vs the Rays who only trail us by 3 games, this time in NY. Then we’ll have a soft 7 game road trip against the Orioles and Royals.

                      Stories From Around The League:
Kimbrel and Keuchel As Dominant As Ever, Making Rest Of GM’s Look Foolish.
Both players FA’s dragged into ST, with no team willing to step up and meet their demands, until the Yankees jumped in, quickly taking both off the market. Boy are most teams looking bad right now. Kimbrel has pitched to a 1.32 ERA in 13 innings and Keuchel has a 2.20 ERA through 57 innings. So far Keuchel has managed to turn back the clock to 2015.

Other teams were wary of committing to Kimbrel for 4 years, but the Yankees did and so far it’s paid off. This has surely been painful for Boston to watch, who’s bullpen has been pretty shaky so far and could really use Kimbrel right now. They trail the Yankees by 6 games.

                      Braves Save Season For Now
Things were looking ugly fast for Atlanta, but they managed to to turn it around now at 21-25, 9-1 in their last 10. Unfortunately it’s done little for them in the division race, as Philly just keeps rolling with a record of 30-14. They still sit 10 games out. They have charged back into the fringe of the WC race, sitting 6 out.

                      Ugly Season In St Louis
Entering the season with heightened expectations following the addition of Goldschmidt, these Cardinals look nothing like they were supposed to. They need to get hot fast or their season might be over soon. They can’t afford much more losing with a record of 16-29, already in last place and far behind the 1st place Cubs by a massive 15 game gap. They also sit 10.5 out of the WC. If this pathetic baseball continues much longer, they can forget about the division and possibly even about making the playoffs altogether.

                        Injuries mount for Redbirds

The Cardinals have added two more to IL after today's game against the Cubs. Tyler Lyons (Bruised Hand) and Juan Fabregas (Sprained knee) both were added to the 10 Day IL after the Cardinals loss to the Cubs today 9-1.

                        The Cardinals current IL:

Michael Wacha - 60 Day IL
Tory Tulowitzki - 10 Day IL
Miles Mikolas - 10 Day IL
Tyler Lyons - 10 Day IL
Juan Fabregas - 10 Day IL

The Cardinals recalled Drew Harrington and Kyle Waldrop.

Cardinals will travel to Miami for the weekend to face the struggling Marlins for 3 games.

Thanks to Operation Sports Vault I was able to get the most up to date team rosters available at that time. But as teams bring up newly created players from the Minor Leagues, do to injuries, people playing Road to the Show get these new players and updates once a week. Why isn't it possible for players of Franchise Mode to also get these same updates so that our Franchise teams will also have this same option of new players and ratings? To my knowledge we cannot create new players not in the original Franchise roster.

Rosenthal blows first save of season...Cardinals lose in extras

With a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the 9th, the Cardinals called up Trevor Rosenthal to notch his 10th save of the season. After striking out Jose Devers, Jordan Rodriguez hit a line shot that short hopped and got passed Kolten Wong to put a man on first. Next up was Giancarlo Stanton. A 1-2 changeup in the dirt would get away from Kelly allowing Rodriguez to advance to 2nd. Two pitches later, Stanton would line a fastball into the right field corner scoring Rodriguez and to tie the game. Castellanos would strike out and then in I didn't see that coming moment, Stanton would get picked off at first to end the inning.

Fast forward to the 13th and Dean Kiekhefer would give up a double to Devers and then a double to Rodriguez to end the game, 2-1 in the Marlins favor.

This is the Cards 2nd straight loss after having won 6 straight.

Game 2 is today in Miami with Alex Reyes getting the ball for the Cardinals. Miami has not yet announced its starter.

So as I mentioned yesterday I flirted with the idea of starting a new franchise with legends......however, I decided to just march on with my carry forward one.

One game into June the 2025 Cubs sit at 30-27 and are 3.5 games off the pace for the division. This team started 4-11 and they have been a team that’s went 26-16 over the last 42. Good news from my last game was that Varela my horse over the last 3 years who had been slumping to the tune of a 5.5+ era put together 7 innings of scoreless baseball. It’s a small step in the right direction.
