Yo quick question do you guys keep IRL injuries when starting a franchise mode? For example Sean Manaea is out for Oakland would you guys keep him in single A or use him off the bat? Always have wondered if anyone does that.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
When I start a new franchise, I don't worry about IRL injuries. My franchise is my own virtual world, so I let teams start with zero injuries.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Texas Rangers Update: Season 1 MOM (Play 1 Sim 3)
Well 32 games in to my first season and things have not gone to bad. I am currently 16-16 and sit 6.5 games out of first place. I am in the first week of May. I've gotten lucky with injuries in that Lance Lynn in spring training was my only injury. He missed 10 games and that was it. Other than 4 injuries with my Minor League Clubs that has been it. I sent Chris Martin down at the end of April in favor of Jeff Springs, I also sent Ronald Guzman down and brought up Eli White. Pulling White up did force me to expose Calhoun to waivers an low a behold he was claimed by another team.
Here is a run down
1. C- Mathis- OK Season hitting about 230
2. 1B- Forsythe- hitting 260
3. 2b- Odor- Hitting 270 with 5 homers
4. SS- Elvis- Solid season at 270
5. 3B- Cabrera- Only hitting 200, losing patience
6. LF Gallo- 270 hitter, 8 HR's
7. CF- Deshileds- 250 with 11SB's
8. RF- Mazara- 310 hitter
All starter not named Shelby Miller are doing well, Especially Minor and SmyleyComment

Interesting. I’ve been using Choo over Mazara and he’s hitting like .330 with 7 HR’s in April. Also my Gallo has 15 homeruns LOL. My rotation isn’t fairing all that well. Aside from Mike Minor, they’re all over a 4 ERA still. Shelby Miller is particularly bad, he’s got an ERA in the 8’s still. LeClerc hasn’t been good for me either. (Coincidentally he’s sucking IRL)Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
2018 brought hope and high expectations to the south side. With fans expecting building blocks Yoan Moncada, Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo López to break out, many thought that this was the season the Sox turned it around. Fans were glued to You Tube videos of Michael Kopech’s blistering fastball and disappearing slider as well as Eloy Jimenez’s light-tower power. Everything was looking up for a franchise that has only seen the postseason in 9 of its 118 years.
The season ended with Moncada leading the league in strikeouts, looked like a total disaster for former top prospect Lucas Giolito, López showed flashes of brilliance but it wasn’t often enough. They lost Kopech for the season in August and the club opted not to bring up Jimenez, much to the fans dismay, even though he tore through AA and AAA.
The media, the fans, the team were looking for something to brighten what looked to be a long cold winter. Then Sox VP Kenny Williams and GM Rick Hahn gave us hope when they stated they would not be outbid this offseason. With mega-superstars Bryce Harper and Manny Machado available as free agents and the Sox having the money to acquire both players and still be outside of the top 10 in payroll, it looked to be a great offseason. They were the talk of town during the Winter Meetings after they met with Harper and agent Scott Boras. They acquired Machado’s brother-in-law Yonder Alonso and long time friend Jon Jay.
January snow brought frigid cold February temperatures in Chicago. In sunny and warm Glendale, AZ the first weeks of spring training was in full swing. Just days before the first spring games, news broke that Machado signed a 10-year, $300 million deal with SD who offered $50 million more than the Sox. A week later Harper signed a 13-year, $330 million mega-deal with Philly, while the Sox didn’t even offer him a contract. So much for not being outbid this offseason.
Fans wanted answers. Reports started circling that the long time ownership team headlined by Jerry Reinsdorf had sold the team to a season ticket holder. New ownership quickly made changes at the top. Gone was VP Kenny Williams and GM Rick Hahn. Director of Player Development, Chris Getz was promoted to GM. They went outside the organization and brought in Seattle scout Amanda Hopkins to fill the Director of Amateur Scouting Role as Nick Hostetler was promoted to fill Getz’s old role.
New ownership has said they have money and will not be afraid to spend it. Changes were promised. The future does look brighter.
Much to the dismay of fans however, they aren’t able to get rid of the Guaranteed Rate name and contract.Comment

Just started a season with the Twins..
Currently 4-2 in the first week, which saw my greatest comeback to win in the game (down 10-3 top 9 to KC, won 11-10 capped with a Buxton GS ), and also my biggest defeat (up 7-2 to Phils and Nola... only to lose 8-7 in the bandbox park).

Baseball season has finally arrived. New ownership started the spring out with a bang. Out are oft injured Nate Jones, building block Reynaldo López, catcher Wellington Castillo and a host of minor league prospects. I’m sure they would’ve traded family members for the right price. The only position battle, or question mark, they had during the spring ended once they announced that top prospect Eloy Jiménez signed a record 6 year, $43 million deal during the final week of camp. The team heads into Kansas City feeling good about the spring and ready to take their first* steps toward the future.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
I have a Phillies franchise going on with OSFM rosters I’m gonna try and keep it as realistic as possible but I will make moves I deem best for the team. So I have a question. I want to get Scott kingery and Nick Williams playing time at the MLB level so they can develop. But they are blocked by Cesar Hernandez and technically McCutchen. Should I trade Herrera and move cutch to center with Hernandez for a bullpen arm or starter? Or let it play out alittle and see how they do at first kind of sharing time and platooning?Comment

Well. Personally, I wouldn’t put Cutch in center cause his defense is pretty bad these days. I’d probably trade Cesar, and give Williams maybe 2-3 games a week and see how he does. The way stamina is in this game you pretty much have to sub guys out every few games anyway.Comment

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise
July 15, 2019
We’ve made a decision on Jonathan Villar, shipping him to Cleveland in the first blockbuster trade of the deadline period. Cleveland initially offered us infielder Yu Chang and RHP Jefry Rodriguez. I was leaning toward keeping and extending Villar until Cleveland agreed to amend the trade to include two higher upside prospects. We had to add some extra pieces and take some salary back to make it work, but we have a deal I’m happy with. Villar was hard to part with as he was a star for us this year, but after this trade there is a much clearer picture of the future of this team.
INDIANS RECEIVE:
2B JONATHAN VILLAR
Villar is having a breakout year in 2019 - ranking in the top 10 in the league in batting average and runs scored, while leading all of baseball with 56 SB. A switch hitter who can play anywhere in the infield plus centerfield, he is a versatile weapon that can fill a multitude of roles as Cleveland hangs on to a 3 game lead in the central in hopes of making it back to the World Series. As he is controllable through 2020, he becomes the heir apparent to second baseman Jason Kipnis who is expected to leave in free agency after the season.
SS ALCIDES ESCOBAR
Signed on a veteran non-roster contract by Baltimore prior to the season, Escobar has spent the season in AAA as the starting shortstop for the Norfolk Tides. Escobar was integral to the Royals World Series team in 2015, so he would add a veteran presence down the stretch should Cleveland need additional infield depth after losing Chang in the trade.
C CARLOS PEREZ
Still just 28, the journeyman Perez hit close to .400 in AAA in April and May before being selected to the major league roster where he served as the backup to Chance Sisco. Perez could find himself stealing playing time from Roberto Perez or Kevin Plawecki, who have both hit under .240 on the season.
ORIOLES RECEIVE:
1B BOBBY BRADLEY
The 23-year-old Bradley ranked as the Tribe’s #7 prospect prior to the season. A bona-fide slugger, Bradley has topped 20 home runs in 4 consecutive seasons in the minors prior to 2019. A below-average defensive profile limits him to first base, but he has enough offensive tools to fit the profile. Even if his future is as a full-time DH, he has the potential to have perennial 30-HR production. With Ryan Mountcastle demoted to AA, Bradley slides into the starting 1B job in Norfolk. Though his ceiling isn’t as high as Mountcastle’s, he is a year older and likely will reach the majors first - potentially later this season.
SS YU CHANG
Chang has been a highly-regarded prospect since the Indians signed him as an international amateur out of Taiwan in 2013. The emergence of Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez had left Chang as the subject of trade rumors for several years, as he seemed unlikely to break into the majors aside from as a reserve infielder in Cleveland. Chang has an impressive swing that at times has been compared to David Wright’s. He presents an average defensive package at shortstop, and the success of Richie Martin in Baltimore likely puts Chang in competition with Drew Jackson as the second baseman of the future if Mountcastle can stick at third.
RHP AARON CIVALE
A third round pick out of Northeastern in 2016, Civale’s calling card is his plus control that helps his average pitch repertoire play up. He has the ceiling of a mid-rotation innings eater and will have a chance to crack the Orioles’ rotation in 2020.
LHP OLIVER PEREZ
Perez struggled in Cleveland, pitching to an ERA over 4.60. He was included as a partial salary offset, and was placed on release waivers immediately following the trade.
With our best player gone, things are going to be rough for the rest of the season (as if they weren’t already). However, after this trade I’m pretty happy with the upper levels of the farm system and can start to see a glimpse of what our future lineup will look like. The plan for 2019 was to continue the rebuild, and after a promising draft and a big trade it looks like we are on our way.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Yea I know cutch isn’t ideal in center due to the defense. I’m probably gonna trade Hernandez for a bullpen arm or a 4-5 starter and move Velazquez to the pen. And yea I haven’t played franchise yet they changed stamina a bit this year so that you have to be subbing guys out quite a bit ?
I usually max the entire rosters durability just to make sure their ‘stamina’ is as high as it can be, and they’ll still be at half energy after like 5 consecutive games.Comment

Well, the 2025 Cubs are starting to remember that they are a team that has won over 1000 games in the last decade. After a start that saw them drop to the record of 4-11, the Cubbies are now 13-14. They swept Colorado, Split a 4 game series vs the West Leading Dodgers, took 2 of 3 from East Leading Philly and have taken the first 2 games in a series vs the Central Leading Pirates.
Kris Bryant who at his lowest was 3 for 32, now has is ave up to .245 and has hit 8 Hrs and knocked in 16.Comment
