Breaking News: A’s Stun Yankees, Advance To WS With A 4-1 Series Win
Oakland has defied the odds once again, first overcoming the Indians in the ALDS, and now toppling a historic Yankees squad. Combined, the Yankees and Indians were only able to beat the A’s twice and both had home field advantage. Call it excuses but you could argue Boston deserves some of the credit for the A’s victory over the Yanks. The A’s magical season continues.
Game 1: Paxton Vs Manaea
Manaea contained us in game 1, holding us to just 2 runs through 6.1 innings. Paxton would give up 4 over 6.1 innings. We couldn’t get to their bullpen so scoreless innings from Betances and Ottavino wouldn’t matter.
A’s Win 4-2. LeMahieu - Solo HR. EE - Solo HR
Game 2: Keuchel Vs Wood
The A’s big trade deadline acquisition keeps paying off. Wood pitched very well holding us to 1 run through 5 innings. Keuchel got shelled giving up 4 runs in 4.1 innings before being forced out. An inning later, Britton and Ottavino got hammered combining to give up 6 runs. Frazier would drive in our only run.
A’s Win 10-1.
Game 3 Bumgarner Vs Triggs. Series Shifts To Oakland.
We finally broke out at the plate and MadBum helped get us a much needed win.
Bumgarner pitched a gem shutting them out through 5. After that he was pulled with a massive lead so he’d be ready to start again quicker. Keuchel would come in to eat innings since he was still somewhat fresh after a short outing the day before. and gave up 4 runs over 3 innings.
Yankees win 11-4. EE - Grand Slam. Stanton - 3 Run HR.
Game 4: Severino Vs Mengdon
This is where we lost the series. We knocked Mengdon out after only a single inning scoring 5 runs. Sevy would leave after only 4 innings giving 3 runs, 2 earned. They’d get another 3 off Miller in the 5th cutting it to a 7-6 deficit. Betances, Britton, and Ottavino would combine to hold the lead until the 9th. Chapman gave up not only the tying run but the winning run as well walking 2 batters in the process to blow it.
A’s Win 8-7. Frazier - 3 hits 4 RBI’s. Stanton - Solo HR.
Game 5: Bumgarner Vs Blackburn
MadBum wasn’t quite 100%, but there wasn’t much of a choice other then rushing him back. Bumgarner was nowhere near as sharp allowing 4 runs through innings. Blackburn would leave after 1 inning with an injury and the entire Oakland bullpen would be used, holding us to just 3 runs the rest of the way to secure the win.
A’s Win 4-3. A’s Win ALCS 4-1.
Very rough ending to an amazing season.
